Stayed recently on a two night Winter deal which was excellent value for money. All the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful and the whole place was warm and welcoming on two very cold January days. Bedroom and bathroom were warm and clean whilst the bar and eating areas were as you would expect in a country inn. Food, at...

We stayed for 1 night at the fat lamb, which is an old fashioned inn with a big fire. Food was excellent, staff friendly. My 6 yeay old daughter got out of the car and said 'why is it so quiet here' it was so tranquil. If you want a nice walk with the family and tranquility and the sound...

Called for Dinner whilst staying in the area Great menu choice from meat and game to vegetarian choices Good British menu and local meat and game. Dog friendly with coal fires. Lovely atmosphere and busy. Casual place where wellies and jumpers are welcome

The place itself appears to be set in the 70's, and could do with bringing into the 21st century. However, the standard of food was absolutely top notch. A traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings was delicious. We will definitely return and will bring our friends too.

Stayed here for 3 nights (Dec 11th - Dec 14th 2016). This is the fourth year on the trot we have stayed here in December. The very warm welcome we got on arrival was so special, and the service during our entire stay was first class. Once again, nothing was too much trouble. The food was exquisite and so much...

Restaurant visit only. The meal comprised a very good starter but the main course is the reason for a poor review: I chose a traditional turkey Christmas main course. It started badly with an apology for the absence of Brussels sprouts. Apparently there's a shortage of them in Ravenstonedale. So vegetables were limited to courgettes, carrots, & broccoli. The roast...

Relaxing, comfortable, friendly, clean, cosy, great food. It snowed and coming back to the open fire was perfect. Rooms were a little dated, but clean and had everything you needed, bed was very comfortable too. No doubt we will be back!

A relaxing, comfortable and friendly base from which to enjoy the stunning countryside. Good home prepared pub food, reasonable range of beers, homely bar with open fire, quiet seating areas, separate bar snack/breakfast eating area and smarter dining room. Plenty of reading material, local guide books etc. Plenty of space for boots at entrance. Staff absolutely wonderful - friendly, efficient,...

A wonderful hotel in the middle of nowhere. The food seemed expensive for the quality. The rooms where clean and majority of staff very friendly. The whole stay was ok but didn't set my world on fire.
