We did NOT stay at Explonapo. But we did stage from the lodge to do the tree canopy walk (arriving by boat from Ceiba Tops Lodge) and having lunch. The tree canopy walk was one of our best experiences in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. The views and perspectives are totally different from on high, and the flowers and bromeliads are... More

the simplicity of life, the beautiful children, the food, the wildlife, and the hospitality. I literally had tears running when the boat docked to take me to the airport to come home. Mt great adventure, and it WAS GREAT

Explornapo is my favorite of the Explorama lodges, partly because it is so rustic and the setting is so very peaceful. The rooms are comfortable and the cold showers refreshing, but it's the things like the baby capybara and the night excursion (those stars, those frogs!) and the wonderfully fresh air and, of course, our wonderful guide Armando that make... The lodge is very rustic, peaceful, lush green surroundings, basic rooms, outdoor toilet, however the experience was awesome, the meals were delicious, staff very courteous and the bar great place to meet other travellers.

This is the most basic of the 3 Explorama Lodges, partially because it it deep in the Amazon. The rooms are open air under thatched roofs and you can hear all the sounds of the rainforest day and night (be warned, though, you can also hear your neighbors). There are no bathrooms in the rooms - there out outhouses and... More

This was nights 4 and 5 of our 7 night trip. We loved the morning boat ride to the black lake. We also saw the dolphins and a wide variety of other birds and wildlife. I was amazed to notice that the local people all had solar panels in each yard. We found out that the use of kerosene for... More

We started our Amazon adventure here and stayed for 3 nights. A great way to experience a more authentic living experience on the Amazon: Open air rooms under large thatched roof, mosquito net single bed, latrine outhouses and showers pumped from the Amazon. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable and bilingual. I recommend the canopy walk to experience the rainforest from... More

We split our time between Explorama (reviewed under Explorama Lodeges) and ExplorNapo. The coolest parts about Napo were doing the Canopy walk at 5:30am, alone with our guide, and learning from Guillermo the shaman. We didn't get to do a nature walk here, unfortunately, but on our trip to and from the canopy walk we saw TONS of monkeys and... More

ExplorNapo is the most remote of Explorama's lodges. We found it charming, intimate and relaxing. Besides being the furthest downriver from Iquitos what makes it different from their air conditioned Ceiba Tops location is that you have to leave your room to use the commodes and showers. We developed a strategy for dealing with the cold water -- shower in... More

We loved it here. Our guide Armando was amazing. He took us on jungle hikes in the Amazon and found us all kinds of monkeys We went piranha fishing, on a visit to a native village, and on an amazing tree canopy tour where you can see a 360 degree view of the jungle. He played the guitar for us,... More
