Our experience in Liberated Jungle Lodge is such a great one that we really enjoyed it. We were picked up from the airport in Iquitos and used three types of transportations you get to the lodge: car, tricycle, and boat. Meals were covered in the payment and they were really good! Our tour guide May speaks very good English, and he is very patient, nice, humorous, and knowledgeable. He customized our tours and filled our time with interesting activities such as looking for pink dolphins, jungle track, fishing, catching alligators at night, etc. Many thanks to May for making our experience so fun and unforgettable.
Unfortunately we both got sick from either the water or food provided at the lodge. While we were there about half of the guests got sick so it is strange that there is no reviews from these guests. I was sick for 2 weeks and only improved after the second lot of antibiotics which ruined my entire trip to Peru so be prepared! Another negative is that they feed the monkeys on the boat trips which is not good as they become reliant on us humans for food, they jump on the boat for the food. Our guide on the other had was great and took care of us very well, the lodge is rustic but clean and comfortable.
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness”- John Muir♥️ We just loved Libertad Jungle Lodge where we stayed for 5 days. This was my 6.time in the rainforest. 2,5 years ago I was in the rainforest in Borneo. Moreover my bucket list of rainforests counts Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica, India, so you might call me a hopeless admirer of these profound places of our beautiful planet. My poetic souls speaks to me, when I am ONE with Nature♥️Everything was just perfect in every sense. From the beginning of the booking, and correspondence with Libertad until our departure from the rainforest. We were picked up in the morning in Iquitos by our excellent and knowledgeable guide Larry, who worked with all his heart, and provided us with so much beauty and knowledge. On our way to Nauta we visited The Amazon Rescue Center, which cares for precious animals until they can be released into the wild. Very dedicated people are working there. Thank you guys🙏 Arriving to the lodge after a ride by car and by boat along Rio Ucayali, we decided which excursions we would like to explore. We were blessed with wildlife in abundance. Tiger Rat Snake Monk Saki Owl monkeys Spider monkey Wooly monkeys Squirrel monkey Capuchinu monkey/Brown face Macaws Blue Morpho King Fisher/blue Amazon King Fischer Ring King Fischer 3 -toed sloth/lower Amazon 2-toed sloth/the higher land Amazon Bamboo Rat The Green Anaconda/ Water Boa The Pink River Dolphin The Grey Dolphin Caiman We were exploring the rainforest in the morning and in the afternoon, and had an evening to explore caimans. A special and exciting moment listening to the frog concert. I went canoeing which touched the core of my soul. I simply loved the meditative and profound silence and smell of the rainforest. We learned about medicinal plants, exotic fruits, and the vegetation in general. We went hiking, and experienced a picnic in the rainforest which was pretty cool. The fishing of the piranhas was also nice. When we visited the community, I bought beautiful and colourful crafts, made of ‘chambira’ fibers by the women there. I prefer the concept of supporting the native, rather than buy in shops!! Our room was clean, the food was delicious and the fresh juice was exquisite. Yummy 😋 The staff working in Libertad were nice and kind. Thank you everybody for making our stay in the lodge such an unforgettable and beautiful adventure. Especially heartfelt thanks to our excellent guide Larry and our boat chauffeur Octavio, who both were extremely sharp eyed🙏🤗 I can highly recommend Libertad Jungle Lodge. “And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul” - John Muir🦋 Peace, love and light Susan and Annamaria…
Traveling to the Amazon was a dream I had for years and finally achieved with Libertad! They were a great choice, with quick responses via email and providing an amazing customized experience; from boating down the Amazon river to camping overnight in the jungle, I was able to see a large variety of wild creatures, from pink dolphins to bullet ants! I was able to hold a wild tarantula, fish for piranhas (which we had for dinner) and explore the jungle by foot! If your looking to have a great experience, not at a regular lodge, this is the place to visit. I reccomend that you confirm your guide is from Libertad, not a third party, as they will be more knowledgeable in that area and the community.
Libertad Jungle Lodge is a wonderful community, and provides a beautiful, ideal spot to examine the Amazon. My guide was warm and incredible knowledgeable. He knew exactly how to find animals, he shared stories and traditions from his people, and he helped secure me WiFi in an emergency. I fished for piranha and cooked them over a fire. Wow! I saw all different kinds of animals. Tarantulas, spider monkeys, sloths, caiman, army ants, dolphins, iguana...I saw everything I wanted to see! I also learned about medicinal plants and ate wild fruit! I was very impressed by the lodge and its community. It's sustainable, committed to honoring, protecting, and celebrating the Amazon, and financially supportive of local people. There was time to rest and relax, time for adventures. A great way to vacation. And there is so much to see and do in Peru.…
