We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Libertad Lodge and all our activities and excursions. We felt very welcome and safe during the entire trip. Our guide, Manuel Andres and his assistant Rolando, were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They made sure we did everything we had planned to do and more. They looked after us at all times, ensuring we were confortable and enjoying the experience. The food was excellent and we had a spectacular lunch and dinner during our full day out and camping night in the jungle. We are so happy we chose Libertad as we could not have had a better and a more meaningful experience knowing that our visit also helped the entire community.

We would like to thank the Libertad Lodge team for all the incredible memories and experience that we shared during our 4 days stay in the jungle!!! Special thanks to Olivier for helping us make the right choice. Thank you for answering all our messages and calls. Thank you for trusting me, and despite the tight preparation time, everything went really great! Upon arrival at the airport, we were immediately met by our guide Gumer and Manuel and were taken to the port by a comfortable car, and then by boat to the lodge. Special thanks to our guide Gumer, who was ready to help us fulfill any request we had: buy local fruits, buy a SIM card, medicines, etc. The territory of the lodge and the tourist houses themselves are very clean. Yes, this is not a luxury hotel, but a wooden house with a private bathroom. But for us, the priority were cleanliness and comfort. And actually we had everything we needed: soap, towels. Shampoo, toothpaste and slippers are better to take with you or you can buy them in Iquitos itself. The room was cleaned every day. The water in the shower is only cold, but that's tolerable because it is quite hot outside. Given that you are on a tour all day, and then you just want to sleep, then 3 hours of electricity a day is enough to charge your phone. We had some concerns about mosquitoes and other insects in the room, but during the entire time we saw only 1 cockroach and 1 spider. I think it's nothing, considering we lived in straight in the jungle. Before our arrival, the room was treated for mosquitoes several times. Thick mosquito nets were stretched over each bed, which was important - clean and without holes. I read comments that residents of the neighboring commune are making noise but we didn't have any of that. We fell asleep only to the sounds of nature, that are totally louder than the people themselves))) Drinking water is freely available on the territory of the lodge. We recommend taking a water bottle with you to bring water during your tours. We also had meals 3 times a day. Once we cooked dinner in the jungle over a bonfire. 2 times we prepared our own food from our fish catch. Almost every day we ate fresh fish. We were immediately asked about our food preferences and possible allergies. We were never hungry. The food was simple, but very tasty and satisfying. Every day, fresh fruits and juices that have never been repeated!! Special thanks to the chef for the original serving of the food))) Now the most important thing is the tour. You need to understand that the lodge is located deep in the jungle on the territory of a small commune (300 people who live their normal lives). The residents of the commune built the lodge themselves and maintain it. Guides are also residents of the commune. They simply talk about their lives and the environment (animals, plants), traditions that are passed down from father to son. All that they tell, they have not read on the Internet, but know by experience. All the money earned goes to support the life of the commune: the construction of schools, medicines for pensioners, school materials... Your arrival at the lodge is a great help to these people. I would like to note that I have studied many reviews of other hotels, and many have noted that guides extort tips. We didn't have that. Not once. But I can assure you that you will want to thank your guide yourself! And the best part is that Libertad has the lowest price, with excellent quality of services. As for the tour program, everything is flexible. The lodge offers all the most popular excursions: piranha fishing, medical plants, kayaking, monkey and sloth seeing, night tarantula hunting, etc. In addition, the guide will be happy to go with you to the jungle for the whole day or you can lie in a hammock for half a day and enjoy the sounds of nature. Everything depends entirely on you and your desires. There is no clear program to follow. You are assigned a personal guide for the duration of your stay and everything is adjusted only for you. And the guide will be happy to do everything and tell you. Everything we wanted to see (lupuna tree, mirror water, piranhas, etc.), the guide showed us. He responded to our every request and desire. We tasted wild fruit from a tree, swam in the Amazon, painted our face with natural colors fruits, hugged a sloth, found an anaconda, caught piranhas, saw a flooded forest. Everything was just astonishing and breathtaking. I really highly recommend you to take this trip to live all the magnificent experience of the selva peruana ))) What surprised us most was how the guide can spot even the smallest animal or bird high up in a tree and even in complete darkness. He always tried to show us every living thing he saw, and waited patiently for us to see it. He told interesting facts about almost every animal. Also because of that we arrived at the end of the winter season (1-4 of May), the water has not yet had time to recede, and 90% of the time we moved by boat. The guide and his companion created a complete sense of security and comfort. In addition, you will be able to swim for the Amazon on a kayak, which is made by hand from a tree trunk. Locals swim and fish on these boats. More importantly, we didn't want to visit super touristic places. Wild animal centers, wild tribes, and so on. We immediately told the guide about this, and he did not even insist on the opposite. We were completely immersed in the wild. It's been a long time since I've seen such dedication from guides, a desire to show and tell everything that the know. Trust me, you will leave satisfied with your journey, as well as with a sense of moral satisfaction, as your arrival helps other people to live and develop their community. Thank you for the unforgettable emotions and impressions of our trip to the jungle. We wholeheartedly recommend Libertad lodge!!!)))

Our experience in Liberated Jungle Lodge is such a great one that we really enjoyed it. We were picked up from the airport in Iquitos and used three types of transportations you get to the lodge: car, tricycle, and boat. Meals were covered in the payment and they were really good! Our tour guide May speaks very good English, and he is very patient, nice, humorous, and knowledgeable. He customized our tours and filled our time with interesting activities such as looking for pink dolphins, jungle track, fishing, catching alligators at night, etc. Many thanks to May for making our experience so fun and unforgettable.

Unfortunately we both got sick from either the water or food provided at the lodge. While we were there about half of the guests got sick so it is strange that there is no reviews from these guests. I was sick for 2 weeks and only improved after the second lot of antibiotics which ruined my entire trip to Peru so be prepared! Another negative is that they feed the monkeys on the boat trips which is not good as they become reliant on us humans for food, they jump on the boat for the food. Our guide on the other had was great and took care of us very well, the lodge is rustic but clean and comfortable.

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness”- John Muir♥️ We just loved Libertad Jungle Lodge where we stayed for 5 days. This was my 6.time in the rainforest. 2,5 years ago I was in the rainforest in Borneo. Moreover my bucket list of rainforests counts Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica, India, so you might call me a hopeless admirer of these profound places of our beautiful planet. My poetic souls speaks to me, when I am ONE with Nature♥️Everything was just perfect in every sense. From the beginning of the booking, and correspondence with Libertad until our departure from the rainforest. We were picked up in the morning in Iquitos by our excellent and knowledgeable guide Larry, who worked with all his heart, and provided us with so much beauty and knowledge. On our way to Nauta we visited The Amazon Rescue Center, which cares for precious animals until they can be released into the wild. Very dedicated people are working there. Thank you guys🙏 Arriving to the lodge after a ride by car and by boat along Rio Ucayali, we decided which excursions we would like to explore. We were blessed with wildlife in abundance. Tiger Rat Snake Monk Saki Owl monkeys Spider monkey Wooly monkeys Squirrel monkey Capuchinu monkey/Brown face Macaws Blue Morpho King Fisher/blue Amazon King Fischer Ring King Fischer 3 -toed sloth/lower Amazon 2-toed sloth/the higher land Amazon Bamboo Rat The Green Anaconda/ Water Boa The Pink River Dolphin The Grey Dolphin Caiman We were exploring the rainforest in the morning and in the afternoon, and had an evening to explore caimans. A special and exciting moment listening to the frog concert. I went canoeing which touched the core of my soul. I simply loved the meditative and profound silence and smell of the rainforest. We learned about medicinal plants, exotic fruits, and the vegetation in general. We went hiking, and experienced a picnic in the rainforest which was pretty cool. The fishing of the piranhas was also nice. When we visited the community, I bought beautiful and colourful crafts, made of ‘chambira’ fibers by the women there. I prefer the concept of supporting the native, rather than buy in shops!! Our room was clean, the food was delicious and the fresh juice was exquisite. Yummy 😋 The staff working in Libertad were nice and kind. Thank you everybody for making our stay in the lodge such an unforgettable and beautiful adventure. Especially heartfelt thanks to our excellent guide Larry and our boat chauffeur Octavio, who both were extremely sharp eyed🙏🤗 I can highly recommend Libertad Jungle Lodge. “And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul” - John Muir🦋 Peace, love and light Susan and Annamaria
