This was an amazing experience. Diving with the sea lions was truly one of the most unique and surreal experiences of my live. Our hosts were accommodating, understood and corrected diving gear issues and overall provided an amazing experience. The food is top notch and plentiful and the diving is world class! Highly recommend.
Rob and Amanda do a truly fabulous job running this resort. Everything from the lodge to the food to the boat dives is very well planned out. Some of the best cold water diving you can do. The sea lions were awesome!
I had an incredible weekend diving! The diving, the hosts, and the other divers were all amazing! I am hoping to go back every year! Food was great! I even enjoyed a relaxing evening in the sauna. The sunsets were incredible. Highly recommend this place! Thank you!
I’m relatively new to cold water diving, and the bar has been set high! Hornby Island Diving Lodge is clearly set up by people who truly want their guests to have the best experience possible, from the layout of the lodge, to the multitude of books on hand for marine species id, a sauna to warm you up at the end of the day, and wonderful cooks making delicious food, no detail has been overlooked. Amanda and Rob were delightful hosts and were frequently on hand to answer questions or impart their local knowledge. The dive sites were incredible, no two were the same, though they all had excellent viz and so much marine life. I got to see my first pair of denning wolf eels, and a giant pacific octopus, this is not a trip I will forget any time soon!
We dove for a week with Hornby Island Diving as part of a REEF/SeaDoc Advanced Assessment Team: all very experienced cold-water divers. This was my first time there, but it won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The lodge, the boat, and the entire operation are clearly set up by divers for divers. They have dedicated spots to rinse cameras, recharge batteries/cameras/strobes, hang drysuits in between dives, hang undergarments in a nice warm drying room, and it all flows in logical order. The lodge itself affords a nice mix of common areas in which a group can eat and gather along with private rooms for guests to process photos, email, or just off-gas privately. The boat accommodated 11 divers well and was nicely set up. The stairs on and off were great: more of an easy series of platforms than a ladder. The staff were universally competent, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, everyone from the owners to cooks (really good meals, by the way). Finally, the dives and dive sites were fabulous! We did everything from walls to reefs to kelp plantations and it was all spectacular: great viz and so much life! Thanks Rob and Amanda for a wonderful trip!…
