This kasbah in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains is a great place to vacation. I wish we'd had more days to stay. The Kasbah is beautiful. The service is great. From the time we arrived we were pampered and emphasis is placed on relaxation. The food is fabulous -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even our picnic lunch (taken on... More

This is a hidden gem! Spacious airy rooms where everything works, Designed round 2 central courtyards with rooms 'Riad' style with lots of spaces & quiet rooms to 'swallow up' the guests so that you never feel like it has all of 20 rooms. Breakfasts on the terrace are a highlight as both food and the views ate stunning -... More

The return was well justified. Apart from the familiar faces from our last visit [April 2013] the standards had been maintained, the service was exemplary and the comfort level quite exceptional. When one wants some solitude, getting away from the other guests is easy. The food is simple, much of it locally sourced from the Kasbah's own garden, well prepared... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here as part of our visit to Morocco. The property is absolutely stunning - a beautiful garden, sitting rooms, terraces and a pool. Everyone was hospitable and friendly and helpful. We received tea upon arrival. The menu, although limited, had three options (usually a vegetarian, meat, and chicken) and each was always delicious. The wine... More

We stayed here for two nights as part of a group bicycle trip. The facilities and grounds are very good, and the food excellent, much of it home grown in the garden. The views are spectacular. The staff is very helpful and attentive and the indoor/outdoor eating options quite broad. Our room needed updating, the ceiling fan was noisy, so... More

Stayed for four nights at Bab Ourika eary September but could easily have spent many more days there. Fantastic food, wonderful staff who could not do enough to help you. And then of course there was the Kasbah itself which had been built with elegance and imagination. We stayed in a top tower where the views were spectacular from dawn... More

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and thought that KBO was very special. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and particularly the pastries and desserts....the chef obviously knows how to cook. Stunning location and the feel of the hotel becomes very special in the evenings under the moonlit sky and candle lights / lanterns. Staff... More

We arrived her from Essaoiura after a 4 hour drive thankfully the roads were empty due to the 'Sheep Festival'. We arrived at Kasbah Bab Ourika after climbing up the valley from Marrakesh. The valley itself is lush and green with fruits and vegetables. The Kasbah is sitting on top of a peak overlooking the river and the villages below... More

Beautiful position, the most amazing views. Menu not huge but well served and delicious. Rooms very comfortable, staff delightful and helpful. The local guides for treks were very helpful and considerate and took us to places we would not have found alone. Free wi-fi in the reception area and by the pool, and sometimes on the balcony.

We stayed for 4 nights at the KBO two years ago and loved it. For us it was the obvious place to return to after a stressful start to 2014. So we returned for 6 nights this time. It is the perfect escape and ticks all the boxes for us: beautiful setting; friendly and and helpful staff, delicious food and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bab Ourika perches majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – yet it is only 45 minutes from Marrakech’s International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets. From its unique eyrie-like position it offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, of traditional Berber villages and of the lush river valley below. The Kasbah is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in Morocco; constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique, it seems almost to have grown out of the rocks beneath. The thick walls provide such good insulation that air-conditioning is unnecessary. Solar panels provide hot water for the hotel and and the underfloor heating in the dining and bar area. Soon a biodigester will provide electricity and compost not only for the hotel but also for the village below. ... more   less
