We did not stay here but used this as a starting point for our hike around the Atlas mountain area. The Kasbah is beautiful in the areas we visited, including the outdoor seating areas and the dining space where we had a buffet lunch. The food itself during lunch was relatively basic consisting of a variety of local salads, grilled...

The gardens, views & scenery are one of the greatest we've come across in our travels; the location was unique and away from everything; was truly a wonder to be there. The grounds where VEry well kept and the gardens where stunning. Inside was very dated to an extent but it felt right, it made it feel classic, kind of...

A magnificent property in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains - Berber territory! Rooms are magnificent and we were especially pleased with our upgrade to one of the Pool Suites. Activities and food were superb. Our trek with Ahmed was a wonderful experience with a nice lunch at a Berber village. All staff were very attentive. Thank you!

We left the bustle of Marrakech with no idea of what to expect from a kasbah... but we were simply blown away! Up a steep windy road into the High Atlas, we could never have expected such an oasis as Bab Ourika. Surrounded by the beautiful mountains, overlooking red clay valleys, and entrenched in beautiful fragrant gardens, your senses are...

This is a Kasbah on top of an atoll with panoramic views, excellent food, comfortable rooms and incredibly helpful friendly staff. The swimming pool is good, options of using the Hamman and having a massage. The vegetable garden is extensive and is used daily. Staff are happy to arrange interesting trips or walks.

What a surprising afternoon lunch at Kasbah Bab Ourika. You talk about "location - location - location" and this one is right up there. We weren't staying here, but it was a lunch stop on our day trip out of Marrakech into the Atlas Mountain area. We were transported up to the hotel in a four wheel drive vehicle (a...

I had been told this was an amazing hotel, so expectations were sky high, but I was not disappointed. The situation could hardly be better with wonderful views in all directions, The building is well and sensitively designed and the staff were efficient and friendly. We were lucky enough not to need the fire in our room as it became...

Back again for two separate stopovers during a fortnight's self-drive around Morocco. The standards do not slip. Considerable and reliable help given in arranging transport for our 1000 mile drive and also dependable recommendations for consideration received on other riads at which to stay as we travelled. The atmosphere at KBO remains outstanding and we found our co-guests most convivial.

We stayed here for a couple of nights. A lovely hotel with excellent views and very good service. We were a little unlucky with the weather - it didn't get much above 12 degs in the day and very cold at night. But being in the mountains this must be common and so you would have thought the hotel would...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bab Ourika perches majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – yet it is only 45 minutes from Marrakech’s International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets. From its unique eyrie-like position it offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, of traditional Berber villages and of the lush river valley below. The Kasbah is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in Morocco; constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique, it seems almost to have grown out of the rocks beneath. The thick walls provide such good insulation that air-conditioning is unnecessary. Solar panels provide hot water for the hotel and and the underfloor heating in the dining and bar area. Soon a biodigester will provide electricity and compost not only for the hotel but also for the village below. ... more   less
