This property is a family owned and run place which consists of approximately fifteen individual cabins set in large grounds. Ours was a standard cabin and it was generally very comfortable. It was very spacious with wooden floors, a large wrap around deck with couch, BBQ table and hammock. The kitchen was reasonably equipped....the supply of oil and vinegar was very welcome...and it had a great shower. There was also a couch inside along with table and chairs and a big comfy armchair. The only downside for us was the bed...quite small (assume it was a double) and not very comfortable...but other people may find it ok. No heating or air-conditioning...but not really required for these temperatures. It was a pleasure to meet Rafael, Jeffry and Gloriana and we really appreciated the time each of them spent discussing what activities would best suit us. They also organised our guide to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Alexander....who succeeded in spotting both a male and female Quetzal...very special. We loved all the birds and wildlife that lived / visited the property...the birds night chorus a cocophany!! There were a number of restaurants and a good supermarket within walking distance....a bit of a walk to Santa Elena. All in all....a special place and we thoroughly enjoyed our five nights here…
Good wholesome relaxed ambiance begins with checking in. The rooms are private cabins with fully furnished kitchen. Raised balcony with view of the passage of wildlife through beautiful grounds. Very clean and a lot of quality for the price. They also recommended a great guide from Tres Hermanos for us in the Reserve who was able to find a rare incredibly showy Quetzal . This was a happy first for both of us.
A superb family run, eco friendly, conservation minded and relaxing place to stay. From the start, the experience was outstanding. Check in was managed by a very competent and friendly member of the family that owns Los Pinos. Location is close to everything, but quiet. The superior cabin was clean and well maintained and very spacious and well appointed. Clearly a labour of love. Beautiful trails on the property. Highly recommended!
The cabin was surrounded by trees and flora. We enjoyed waking up early and drinking coffee on the patio and listening to nature. The hotel has trails to hike through on the property. The staff was friendly.
The host/owner Geoffrey was fantastic - we arrived early so he gave us a different room that was ready. Then he spent almost an hour telling us all the best things to do in the area, and booked some things for us then and there. He was kind and knowledgable and was genuinely interested in what we had been up and what we had seen. Room was lovely, they have their own trail to hike (small but scenic) and a greenhouse to buy fresh veg from if you’re cooking for yourself - but you don’t need to because the hotel is 10 min walk from lots of local cafes/restaurants. We had breakfast every morning at a delicious little bakery right opposite the hotel. Highly recommend!
