We booked to stay elsewhere and went for a walk. Ended up asking the receptionist at Forest Dreams Hotel who gave us warm, genuine tips and even told us to mention we stayed at their place so we could get a discount at one of the best local restaurants.

My family of six took two rooms for two nights; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The place was a little difficult to find but once we told them it used to be called Manakin Lodge everyone knew were it was. The staff were so very helpful and friendly! Their recommendations for places to eat were spot on. We even saw...

We went to Forest Dreams, a small walk outside the centre. The little walk is worth it. We had good en comfortable rooms and beds, a good bathroom and a good breakfast. Comparing to the price, this was more than we were used to in Costa Rica. The service was also very relaxing and easy. Just go to Chris or...

I feel the need to temper the reviews here a bit. First, let me focus on the positives. The guys that work in reception are super nice and helpful. I would also say that the rooms were perfectly clean and the hotel is a good value. However, I think it’s important that any prospective traveler consider the following: 1. The...

If you are visiting Monteverde to hike in the numerous reserves this is a great place to stay. If you want a luxury hotel with an inhouse restaurant, bar, swimming pool and exercise equipment you should go elsewhere. I terms of negatives, the walls between rooms are not soundproof. Whoever built this hotel (not current owners) must have used substandard...

The room was simple, but very clean. The staff was excellent. They let us use their washing machine for free. They arranged all our tours (which I'm sure they got some kickback for) and answered all our questions, no mater how many times we asked the same ones. They make coffee or tea for us in the afternoon upon request....

We stayed at this hotel 2 nights and had a great experience. The young men who run the place went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They provided lots of helpful information about the area and places to visit. The rooms are very large and comfortable. A good value. The hotel backs up to a dense fores,t...

This was really a nice surprise. Excellent service. The breakfast was good in a restaurant where you felt you were in the middle of the forrest. Several restaurants in walking distance. Close to Skytrek and other adventure tours and many different tracks to follow to experience the forrest.

If you want the most authentic Costa Rican experience when you travel to Monteverde, this is the place for you. You are literally on the edge of the cloud forest. You will be awakened in the morning by the hum of the forest. It could be birds one day or monkeys the next or just the wind and the sun....

We stayed at Forest Dreams for 5 days just recently. The weather unfortunately was not wonderful however the people at Forest Dreams were wonderful. My wife was sick and they brought her fruit to the room and on another occasion sent up tea and banana cake free of charge and were so concerned for her. We recommend this hotel, the...

“When you get to the sign for the hotel off the main road, you'll turn onto a gravel street and go down a steep hill, maybe 100 feet. At the bottom of the road is a big black metal gate, maybe 40 feet wide. The hotel is actually behind the gate, and behind the gate is where you park, too. The gate is manually operated, so if it isn't open, just get out and slide it open and park your car.”
