Stopped off on drive to Kent from Edinburgh for lunch. A really quaint pub with a very friendly and entertaining barmaid/landlady. Lunch nice too. Had the pulled pork baguette and companion had the lentil soup, both lovely and good value. Would live to stay if I'm going that way again.

OK, so it was relatively cheap, BUT if you want a base to explore Northumberland then choose somewhere else. It is right on the A68 so there is constant road noise. The bedroom was small and basic with a plastic cubicle bathroom the size of an average shower. Sitting on the loo was an art form, with knees touching the... More

Came in on a dreary Thursday evening, lady behind the bar was very warm and welcoming. Great service from the bar, food was also nice. Bar was very clean, and the locals we spoke to were very welcoming and good craic. The lady behind the bar was very helpful in giving information about the local area. Would visit again!!

On holiday nearby and stopped into this delightful pub for a late lunch. Dog friendly and we were all meant to feel most welcome. Our food was delicious and plentiful, although only baguettes they were fresh, presented beautifully and arrived promptly. The locals were pleasant and the place had a warm feel. Highly recommended...

We stopped here for a light lunch after a morning's fishing. The weather was beautiful and the pub food came recommended by a local. We were served by a very friendly barmaid who served a very good ale - speckled hen. The meal came quickly and was traditional Northern fare. The pulled pork was tender and beautifully cooked but too... More

5* hotel this is not, its a pub, great atmosphere...Rooms comfortable and very clean...we ate dinner both nights we stayed here and were not disappointed. Pig on a plate is great if you are a meat eater....Breakfast no frills but perfectly adequate, well cooked, eggs just right.

My husband and I have travelled to the Bay Horse on several occasions now. We regularly partake of the seniors menu on a Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime. The food is delicious, beautifully presented and amazing value for money. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. This is a pub with a long history, is comfortable and interesting, and the staff... More

Stayed here on an offer so very good value. Super room (£20 extra and worth it). Very comfortable and well placed for walking. Good atmosphere in the pub with regulars using it as well as travellers but very quiet after closing time. Food well cooked but some dishes lacking flavour and some n/a. I can recommend haggis. Staff seemed friendly... More
