We enjoyed our stay at this dated but functional hotel. Our room was very clean. The handrails in the hallway reminded us a bit of a seniors home... And remember those bedspreads from the 70's and 80's? They're still here, but are clean and in good repair. As there is no elevator in this two-story hotel, the front desk was happy to switch our booking to a ground-floor unit. Even though our room faced the road, it was quiet. We appreciated the self-serve continental breakfast. We noticed the nice pool and waterslide - we didn't use either, but kids would like enjoy them for sure. Our unit was a queen bed suite, with a pullout couch in the seating area, which has diving wall with sliding door, perfect for families. The hotel is south of downtown, but only a short drive away.
I travel to The Pas quite often on business, and always stay here. Staff is great, rooms are clean and comfy (and have in-room coffee) and Good Thymes restaurant is a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast is continental (muffins, toast, yogurt and fruit), so I usually have a bite there, then pick up something more substantial when heading into the office.
While working in The Pas, Flin Flon and Snow Lake MB, I chose to stay where the rooms are always clean and bright. Strict Covid-19 protocols are in place, which allowed for use of the Pool, waterslide and hot tub with care. Cleaning practices of doors, hallway rails and all public spaces were excellent! I always enjoy the friendly staff here, and really feel welcome every time I stay with them. The weather too was incredible while there, and use of the Barbecue for meals was a bonus!
My room was pre booked by a booking company through my employer as I’m here on business. I arrived at the hotel at 3:45pm. After sitting in the lobby until 6pm I was finally able to get into my room. The front desk clerk was having issues getting me checked in. After trying to check me in for 45 mins, he called the manager and asked her to come in and help. She arrived at the hotel at approx 5pm. She walked the clerk through my check in. Turns out that my room had not been cleaned yet and they had to call cleaning staff in to clean it. I explained to the manager that my room was booked by a professional company for my business trip and the manager replied “when your room is booked by someone else you should call and check with us that everything is done correctly so that when you arrive we don’t have these problems” SERIOUSLY!? I’ve been travelling for employers for 15 years and 90% of the time My room is booked for me! I’m not going to say there has NEVER been an issue, but I will say I have never waited over 2 hrs in the lobby for my room and I have never been told what I should do when my room is booked via someone else or on behalf of someone! I was not offered another room while my room was being made up, I was not offered any compensation because of my wait and due to an error on behalf of the hotel! I was so polite and understanding with all of the issues, I never once showed any discontent, I just sat and waited. After the 7hr drive I was tired, hungry and needed a shower, so I just sat and waited quietly. Being that I am originally from the area, I tried to give the clerk, manager and cleaning staff the benefit of doubt. I recognize that sometimes things just happen but honestly, this was pretty unacceptable! I may have to escalate my opinions to a higher authority. …
I travel within rural Manitoba a lot for work. This hotel is very clean and well run. The staff are very friendly and helpfully. Quiet location and good value for the cost. The breakfast could use a bit of an upgrade but seems pretty standard for this type of hotel.
