While it takes a bit of effort to get to Discovery Island Lodge the rewards are terrific. A wonderfully friendly staff, fantastic breakfasts, a fully equipped kitchen to prepare dinners and views that are amazing. The dock is perfect to launch a kayak and the opportunities are wonderful from beginner to advanced paddlers. I loved this place and will return!!

Excellent four day/night stay despite heavy winds that prevented us from getting out on the water. Spent the time swimming in Main Lake, hiking to Surge Narrows and other spots with varying distances and difficulty. Breakfasts included were good and nutritious. No real problems preparing our own lunches and dinners in the community kitchen. Amazing views from the lodge. Floating... More

This is our second stay at Discovery Island Lodge and we thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding hospitality from the staff at the Lodge. The lodge is well kept and the breakfast was delious and sitting around the breakfast table gave us a chance to meet and chat with people who share a common interest in kayaking and exploring the ocean coast... We found this to be a very good balance of getting away from it all in rustic surroundings, but still with some important comforts like a decent bed, hot showers and a well equipped communal kitchen. The open plan lounge/kitchen had comfy couches and a lovely woodburning fire that made it really cozy. Beth and the rest of the staff... More

My husband and I are geriatric kayakers and stayed here for 3 days recently. We cant say enough good things about the staff of 3 young women who took such good care of us. This place runs like a casual group experience with the fine tuning and organization running efficiently, smoothly and humming right along under the surface. We had... More

Ralph and Lannie have designed and built a place that has everything sea kayakers would ever want in a resort. The location is easily accessible, the paddling is top notch, the lodge is just fantastic from the wonderful and scenic living/dining area to the gorgeous dock system, and especially the wood-fired sauna, also on the dock. The place is also... More

We stayed at the lodge the second week of August for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. Great set-up for all types of travelers Remote but not too remote, easy to get to but far enoug away that you settle in and relax. Spectacular setting, wonderful sunsets, idillic kayaking for beginners or for experts, friendly kayak guides and lodge... More

We decided to book a kayak trip for 4 leaving from the Discovery Island Lodge. The lodge itself is very inviting and the views are breathtaking. Serenity all around. We wished we stayed a night just experience it. The paddling was also fantastic around the island. Our guide Emily was friendly, knowledgeable and experienced kayaker. While paddling we spotted plenty... More

We loved this lodge. We were with our Australian cousins who had never kayaked. The lodge is beautiful and comfortable. The girls who run it were professional and friendly. Breakfasts were delicious. We prepared our own evening meals in the well-equipped kitchen. I can't wait to get back here again. A truly memorable time.

Great host in Beth and team, despite being under the weather, we had a great time. Could not get a better view anywhere. My wife went for a day trip on the river, while I had a game of golf with some of the best view I have ever seen on a course.
