The staff were amazing the cleanliness of the cabins was slightly shocking and were much smaller than expected. It was not to overall cleaners fault it’s more that the actual hotels owners are not putting money in to carpet cleaning or updating. The doors to cabinets were falling off and there were massive grunge spots on the carpets. Although a general deep clean would help. Overall we did have so much fun! Amd the pool and hot in was really awesome. We are thankful to all the staff for their hard work they are the back bone of this hotel! I would come again if I herd that they have updated their cabins and have new mattresses. Ps the beds were the most in for table beds I have ever slept on and I’ve slept in hostels in Cambodia for $6 a night so..... need I say more.
We recently spent two nights at Poet's Cove Resort on Pender Island. It was a beautiful, restful retreat. The staff was very friendly, always available to answer questions. We stayed in a king room which was excellent and exactly as pictured online...very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The view of the harbour was right there from our expansive private deck where we enjoyed a glass of wine each evening. I would highly recommend Poet's Cove Resort.
We stayed here last minute for 4 nights in Cottage #1 when BC decided to close schools for the week at the start of January. We had our 3 kids and dog with us and the cottage has 2 single beds and a king bed, 3 TVs, full kitchen, nice BBQ and a 4 person hot tub. Our unit was clean, WIFI worked and the views were great, plus it was super quiet there. Our hot tub did seem a bit like the chemicals needed checking (water cloudy) and the main hot tub was only warm and the jets didn't work when we tried it one night. The pool was heated, not hot but the kids jumped in and swam around when it was snowing out. The resort overall is well kept in my opinion. Also we had dinner one night at Syrens, it was good, everyone was nice there. Our only complaint was that one day the power went out for the whole island, the main building has a generator, but they wouldn't let anyone from the cottages/villas use a room for the day. This meant we had no running water or heat for the whole day as the cottages are not connected to the generator. It would have been nice to have some support that day, otherwise the stay was great. For the island... it is a really quiet place in the winter, we went to Brooks Point Regional park, about 5 mins away by car, good for a short hike to the coast line. We did the 'enchanted forest loop' twice, kids loved looking for the fairy doors (super easy 10 min walking loop, not accessible for a stroller though). We popped down to Mortimer Spit park - drove right out onto the beach (kids loved that). The last day we had lunch at the Port Browning Pub, the server was super nice and food was good. Other than that, there is not much else on the island. Also - the hotel has an included continental breakfast (muffins, cereal, juice, etc) Mon-Fri that we raided every morning.…
Christmas at Poets Cove was a great decision. The atmosphere was lovely, and it snowed. We stayed in the Villa which over looked the hot tub and ocean. It looked fantastic when it snowed. I could have stayed longer.
All the staff during our stay were friendly and helpful. Despite COVID, we were able to enjoy privacy in the pool/hot tub area and the amenities were great. The food at Syrens was amazing (although we missed the breakfast buffet). Even when there was no quiet hours it was very quiet. We will be back again for sure!
