Had a perfect little much needed getaway. The property is beautiful to walk around and right on the water. We enjoyed the view of the marina from our room and patio. The restaurant has a fantastic view of Campbell River and the marine activity, and a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Our salmon and tuna dishes were done to perfection. The room was cabin like, very charming, clean and cozy. The mattress was comfortable, but the bed had a bit of a lean to it. We had the West Coast Benny for breakfast. The smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce was very good, though the english muffin was over toasted. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back.

Our girls group stayed over at Painter's Lodge this past summer and we were able to water taxi over to April Point for dinner and drinks. What an amazing experience. Thank you to the team at April Point for going above and beyond for our girls getaway.

Used to be top notch when Eric Peterson owned it. Now it is like a chain motel. No staff to help carry luggage to the room. It would be nice to have a shuttle to the parking lot. Seemed to be understaffed.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback, we’re sorry that we have not lived up to your expectations. We are excited about a lot of changes that will be coming in in our 2020 season that will take our resort to the next level. The resort will be operating under new management next season, so we are expecting to see some great thinks coming. A shuttle to the parking lot is a great idea! We will look into that. All the best, Dikran Zabunyan

I had the opertunity to stay at the marina at the April Point Resort and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. They charge rates similar to mooring in downtown Vancouver with none of the ammenitites. The marina is completely run down and when asking what the reason was, the staff stated that it is under repair, but it has been for over a year already. I did not even see a staff member until my third night. As I was there to join friends for a fishing trip (who were staying at the Painter Lodge side of the resort) I had to take the water taxi back and forth to Painters as there is no place to tie up a boat on the Painters side. The water taxi operator was rude the first ride and requested a tip!! His service did not warrent any tip. The seocnd night he refused to take me back to the marina, instead dropping me off at the April Point Lodge. It was 10:30 at night, pitch dark and the marina is approx 1 KM from the Lodge. I could have been seriously injured as it was so dark I could not see my hand in front of my face. The third night, the water taxi once again would not return me to the marina, I stayed on the boat until he begrudgingly took me to the marina, and once again demanded a tip. A tip for what? The service was so bad that I will never return to this report again. The staff was generaly uninformed about the place they worked and when I asked simple questions like where I could get breakfast they did not seem to have an answer. This resort will definately be a pass in the future.

Hi Craig, We’re terribly sorry that your experience with our resort staff was unsatisfactory and that you felt disrespected. We are now operating under new management and are working hard to hire and train the best staff possible for our next season who will be knowledgeable, courteous, and kind. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re doing all we can to ensure experiences like this do not happen again in the future. All the best, Dikran Zabunyan

We went for a couple of days for our 40th wedding anniversary. Like a lot of the reviews, we arrived to be told our room was not ready so we sat outside on the deck and had munchies until it was. We were told to make a reservation for supper and when we arrived there was no-one else there! The food the first night was really good, but that didn't last as the second night it was almost cold and definitely not as much as the first night. Server was smug and uncaring. Opened our wine and poured and that was the last we saw of him until he came to clear the plates and asked our thoughts on the food, I told him the absolute truth and he said he would take it up with the kitchen later as they were busy right now (they were not!). Also while eating, some member of staff came in asking in a loud voice where the fire was - very encouraging! Also the staff were bickering loud enough for the guests to hear. The breakfast was continental and I've eaten better at cheap motels! I believe we were overcharged for the room and like one of your other reviewers remarked, there was no pool, no spa and the room had things wrong with it like lightbulbs that were out and a toilet that wobbled. I also had a fall while I was there and asked the front desk for an ice pack, which they could not produce (isn't that against health and welfare regulations not to have a first aid kit?) and eventually came up with a block of ice from the fishing hut. I could go on, but I think I've painted a pretty damning picture. Also a member of the cleaning staff walked across our balcony and was going into our room when she noticed my husband sitting there!

Hi Suzie, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at April Point. I’m very sorry that you experienced disappointment after disappointment during your time here and on your 40th anniversary getaway of all times! We are aware that during this season our resort has been lacking in areas and that has created poor experiences for many of our guests this year. We have a new management team that have all come on recently and who have big plans for the resort for our 2020 season and we are specifically looking to hire and train more professional staff, create better unique guest experiences, update our rooms, expand our dining options, and open the spa (which has been under renovation). We are very excited for the coming changes as we want to deliver exceptional service. We hope that if you are ever on the island again that you’ll come visit us for lunch or at the spa. All the best, Dikran Zabunyan
