I'm familiar with this place and Painters lodge. The rooms are unremarkable at best yet very expensive. 4 star city prices for a basic room with a tv. You're paying for a pretty view. The food varies from adequate to attrocious. Service is the same yet prices are high. The one and only time I stayed here, I felt ripped off and the experience left a nasty taste in my mouth as did the awful steak I suffered the night before. The misery of the Hotel staff was almost palpable.
Had a perfect little much needed getaway. The property is beautiful to walk around and right on the water. We enjoyed the view of the marina from our room and patio. The restaurant has a fantastic view of Campbell River and the marine activity, and a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Our salmon and tuna dishes were done to perfection. The room was cabin like, very charming, clean and cozy. The mattress was comfortable, but the bed had a bit of a lean to it. We had the West Coast Benny for breakfast. The smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce was very good, though the english muffin was over toasted. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back.
Our girls group stayed over at Painter's Lodge this past summer and we were able to water taxi over to April Point for dinner and drinks. What an amazing experience. Thank you to the team at April Point for going above and beyond for our girls getaway.
Used to be top notch when Eric Peterson owned it. Now it is like a chain motel. No staff to help carry luggage to the room. It would be nice to have a shuttle to the parking lot. Seemed to be understaffed.
I had the opertunity to stay at the marina at the April Point Resort and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. They charge rates similar to mooring in downtown Vancouver with none of the ammenitites. The marina is completely run down and when asking what the reason was, the staff stated that it is under repair, but it has been for over a year already. I did not even see a staff member until my third night. As I was there to join friends for a fishing trip (who were staying at the Painter Lodge side of the resort) I had to take the water taxi back and forth to Painters as there is no place to tie up a boat on the Painters side. The water taxi operator was rude the first ride and requested a tip!! His service did not warrent any tip. The seocnd night he refused to take me back to the marina, instead dropping me off at the April Point Lodge. It was 10:30 at night, pitch dark and the marina is approx 1 KM from the Lodge. I could have been seriously injured as it was so dark I could not see my hand in front of my face. The third night, the water taxi once again would not return me to the marina, I stayed on the boat until he begrudgingly took me to the marina, and once again demanded a tip. A tip for what? The service was so bad that I will never return to this report again. The staff was generaly uninformed about the place they worked and when I asked simple questions like where I could get breakfast they did not seem to have an answer. This resort will definately be a pass in the future.…
