I stayed at the Marathon Inn for a week, had a room at the very end of the Annex, second floor, with a harbor view. While Wi-Fi was spotty, and there was only one outlet in the room, my room was cozy and the bathroom huge. Cast iron tub, lovely fixtures, and the resident Pheasant crowing in the early morning... Old sea captain house/inn with creaky wood floors and old wood stoves for heat close to ferry. Serves breakfast (not expensive) and dinner ( you have to tell them in am and what your selection is) which in this small beautiful island is a huge plus. Staff nice and helpful ,accommodations what you would expect in old inn.

The whole building, inside and out, is quite grand. We had room #8 which had two beds in different parts of the room so that it could practically be considered a suite. We had a lot more space (and comfort) here than other places we've stayed on the island (one, a cottage in north head and the other a hotel... More

I chose this place because it is the oldest inn on Grand Manan Island. The floors are at an angle, the lock was extremely difficult to manuever, and the stairs to the room were quite steep. Quite what you would expect in an old hotel, so how I judged this room were by the quality of the towels, sheets, and... More

My husband and I just got back from a three day stay on Grand Manan. We had a wonderful trip and I think the thing that made the trip for us was the Marathon Inn...(Grand Manan is beautiful and all, but it all starts with how you sleep and eat!) I had read some of the less then kind reviews... More

My kids loved the pool, we walked to our boat tours, we used the full kitchen in the annex and grill to make meals for our large family- saving us lots on meals out (though we did have a fabulous lobster dinner there as well), and the hosts were so friendly and welcoming! The hotel is old and we didn't... More

Here's what I loved about this hotel: the antiques, claw tub, comfy bed and pillows, view from room five, heated outdoor pool, yummy free breakfast, free North American phone calls, good Internet service, great spacious room, lounge, veranda, friendly , knowledgeable proprietor, quaint decor, proximity to the ferry, and all at a great price. This is the perfect hotel! Do... More

We stayed on the second floor of the Marathon Inn, in a room that looked out of the front of this historic hotel toward the Bay. Our room was comfortably and charmingly outfitted with a double and a twin bed covered with lovely period quilts. I found it incredibly thoughtful and handsome that our curtains were made of a velvet... More

I can only write about our room in the Annex – and it was a shock. After navigating the crooked boardwalk to the Annex we open our room’s door and were met with an atmosphere of dampness and the odour of mildew. On putting down the wheeled suitcase between the beds, it immediately rolled across the sloped floor. There were... More

The Inn has been well maintained over the years and has recently been refurbished. It still retains the charm and leisurely living of another age. Antiques and period decor complement the mood. We offer a licensed bar and there is also a solar-heated swimming pool. We now offer High Speed wireless Internet Access. Marathon Inn is Grand Manan Island's Elderhostel/Road Scholar destination.
