We stayed in the Studio Cottage for 2 days . It was beautiful inside and out. We had a great view of the ocean from our deck. The most amazing and beautiful thing was the view from the gazebo. The sunset was totally stunning. I would definitely stay there again Bob and Jan were awesome hosts. We truly loved it... More

We are delighted to give our highest recommendation to Chimney Corner Costal Cottages after having spent three nights there at the end of July. We were late to register and thus were able to rent only the ‘Studio’ A-frame cottage, the smallest and least secluded of the cabins on the property. Still, we were amazed at the sense of peace... We stayed in the Clifftop Octogon Cottage for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The location is absolutely breathtaking. There is a deck built right on the edge of the cliff to enjoy sunsets and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below. The cottage, which also gives you amazing views, is perfect for 2... Wow ! If you want to get away from the city, stay at one of the Chimney Corner Coastal Cottages. We stayed at the Octagon cottage (more like a beautiful home) for a week at the end of July. It was the best place and area to stay in. Right in the middle of everything. We were a short drive... More

I rented the studio. It was extremely comfortable and I was able to cook dinners there both nights (there is also a bbq for every unit). You may want to check ahead to inquire about places to buy food/wine/and beer because you will probably pass them on your way here, and they are both a little distance away. The view... More

Where do I even start?! We stayed 3 nights in the Cliffside Cottage. Wow, wow and wow. I was greatly anticipating our trip to Cape Breton, then when I found Chimney Corners I was like a child waiting for Christmas. I couldn't wait to check in. The Wheelers are superb hosts who gave us the most scrumptious treats! They made... More

Most of the guest stay here multiple days but we were passing through and only needed a room for the night. But what a wonderful place this is. The hosts are fantastic and make you right at home. We stayed in their smaller cottage, the Studio. And it was much more than adequate. Plus they have a laundry room so... More

We stayed two nights in the studio cabin. This cabin is a rustic A frame built by Bob. The studio was quiet and private. The view was stunning. We appreciated the availability of the laundry which included a washer, dryer and clothes line. Bob was warm and friendly and quite a story teller. This property was fairly close to a... More

Jan and Bob are gracious hosts and ready of offer advice and insight into making the most of your stay on Cape Breton. The Cliff Cottage is small, but perfect for two people with a wonderful view over the water. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy a meal on our own, the laundry facilities were well appreciated, and... More

Chimney Corners is a WONderful place to stop toward the end of the Cabot Trail drive for a few days or a week of total peace and quiet! Jan and Bob, the owners, are absolutely delightful and did everything possible to ensure that our stay was comfortable. All of the large, lovely cottages face the water. They have been built... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Chimney Corner is located in the beautiful Margaree River region of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Our site is situated on the Gulf of St.Lawrence and provides twenty-five acres of woodland and private beach for those who wish to escape the world of commercialism and enjoy a quiet, secluded, ocean setting. The property lends itself to reflection and getting in touch with yourself: walking down the birch lined driveway, sitting on a cliff deck overlooking the Gulf, or going to the beach and counting that seventh wave. Enjoy the fresh air, the birds calling, a clear night sky, a stroll to the beach to collect driftwood and search for fossils, along with an early morning coffee or late evening wine on the decks. The cottages provide privacy and tranquility while perched at the edge of fifty foot cliffs. The stressed-out and burnt-out can recharge, and the vacationer can just vegetate. Three-days in a cottage will give you a “taste,” but it takes a minimum of a week to “savour” Cape Breton. ... more   less
