Just back from a week at Mowat and it was fantastic! Wonderfully large rustic cabin, equipped with all the creature comforts including a wood burning stove for the cooler evenings. Had our own fire pit and bbq which was perfect (wood was already cut and stacked for us to use). Enjoyed fishing the Montreal River and seeing the plentiful wildlife. Trevor is an awesome host who goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Looking forward to trying ice-fishing next time.

We chose Mowat Landing Cottages because we could drive our car right to the cottage, no need to load our food and gear into a boat. Trevor also has very flexible boat rental options (hourly, daily, weekly) as well as many different types of boats available. The boat I wanted wasn't available so Trevor gave us a better boat at the same price...so grateful! Also, because they are his boats on his dock, there is no need to return the boat by a certain time, a boat rental for the day is truly for the entire day.

The recently installed solar power system gave us silent power throughout the night which was great for us as we forgot to bring flashlights. No cell signal there but the WI-FI kept us connected with friends and family back home.

Fishing the Montreal river was a real treat, unlike all the lakes in Ontario we didn't have to worry about choppy waves or bad weather ruining our boating. There are tons of bays and weedy areas that are full of fish as well as deep water channels and holes, I caught a lot of large mouth Bass which I wasn't expecting.

I would definitely recommend Mowat Landing Cottages if you don't want to commit to 7 days of non-stop fishing, a very relaxing experience.

I'll start off with saying that Trevor and Lisa were great hosts. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable enough for 6 of us to stay in. Trevor ensured that we had everything we needed and that the wood stove was maintained while we were out and about for the day. It was nice to return back to a nice, warm and cozy cabin.
If you're looking for an amazing place to go ice fishing and snowmobiling this is your place. The cabin is not far from Lady Evelyn lake which we discovered has some excellent walleye fishing, Trevor pointed us in the right direction and he put us on the fish. In addition to lady evelyn there are countless back lakes in close proximity that offer great fishing and snowmobiling as well. The OFSC trail is a short distance down the road from the cabin if you are more interested in trail riding.

I encourage everyone to give this place a try. Group had an awesome time at Mowats and we have already booked for 2021. Thanks again Trevor and Lisa.

We stayed at Mowat Landing Cottages 7 years ago for 3 nights. Have been going back now 3 times over 7 years and plan on keeping going back. Very nice cottages, friendly owners, good people in my books. Generator running from 7am until 11pm for hydro. This year 2020 they have a brand new solar system for hydro. Excellent fishing off the shore and by boat. There is also a small convenience store if you need odds and ends.We were there in August 2019 and booked for July 2020 already.
Will recommend 100%

was supposed to stay for a week but left after two days. The owner was rude and made us feel like we were intruding. The cabins/cottages were old and dirty. It was overpriced it felt like were bleeding money everytime we wanted to wanted to do an activity. We will never go again and highly recommend others to stay away.

Great stay all around! Cabin was clean, owners made us feel very welcome and the kids loved their very friendly dogs. The property beautiful and well maintained. It was very private and quiet, hard to believe there were other campers near by. We will definitely be staying there again!!

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! PLEASE READ THIS!!! Friend and I rented for a week Oct 2017. Upon arrival Trevor was drunk and border line rude and condescending. He said he had maps available for the area and handed over a photo copy of hand scribbled paper with slang land marks of the area. He indicated $450 per person based on 3 people but said he would give the 2 of us a great deal and charged us $1350?? The cottage had strong odour of mold/mildew throughout. Front door was missing and only had broken screen door. One bedroom had no door. The cottage is very old and run down. Front porch roof totally rotten and really unsafe with railing missing. Very dangerous for children. No carbon monoxide alarms and stove runs on propane!! Windows very old, rotten and drafty. We killed at least 20-50 house flies per day and continually came in and was annoying while trying to sleep. Trevor said he would not charge us for firewood if we were conservative with it but which was easy because firewood was green/unseasoned. Wet wood created poor fire so it was cold inside as front door was missing. Old fireplace had very poor draw and smoke came inside and we felt it was blocked with creosote. Newspaper was wet and and had to ask for good wood and kindling. Bedding was soiled and had not been changed. Washroom floor
sagged about 2 inches when walked on and completely rotten from cracked toilet leaking.
Trevor yells at 3 dogs on site that are not friendly and continually fight. Rented a boat and charged us $50 for $20 of gas.
Main generator for entire camp was on in morning and off at night at random times in evening and morning. Guests (from Cardinal, Ontario) at next cottage had to start it in the morning for the week cause they said Trevor slept in. They said the will not be coming back as well.
Trevor was a personable fellow but in my opinion in the wrong line of work.
We didn't stay the full week
Please don't make the same mistake we made, you work hard for your holidays each year and can find much, much better out there for much cheaper.

Stayed 2 nights in a cabin with a deck facing the water . Very clean cottage , comfortable bed. Our host Trevor was awesome ! Provided us with firewood for our indoor stove , heated up the wood Sauna both evenings , provided directions for hiking and paddling . I'm pretty sure he sold us the coffee cream from his own fridge as we forgot to buy some ! We will definitely be returning for a girls weekend in the very near future .

As one review states, don’t judge a book by its cover. The outside of the cottages do not match the inside. Love the cathedral ceilings. The huge bathroom was totally unlike any we’ve seen at a fishing camp! And the hospitality shown by Trevor was beyond expectations. Our relatives from the US plan to make a return visit soon.

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure having you come visit. We enjoyed having your friends and ours come stay in our newly renovated 3 bedroom cottage. It was great to see everyone, which I haven’t seen for 20 years. Except you 2 from New Liskeard.

Spent a night at these cottages prior to heading to Lady Evelyn lake and I can't say it was an overly positive experience. The cabin was old and dilapidated, the water was not potable, I thought I was going to fall through the bathroom floor and the kicker was the sign stating there is no pest control for rodents. The beds were uncomfortable and the power generator went off in the middle of the night which was awkward and made it hard to find the bathroom. Will give it a pass from now on.

I rented a boat from Trevor and the boat broke down. The boats are old and the motors are unreliable. The dock is falling apart and unstable. He tried to charge us for extra tank of gas and the generator was suppose to stay on during the day but he turned it off and by Thursday some of our food was spoiled. It's the first time and the LAST TIME for this place. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
