We went here for the beautiful scenery in and around Semonkong in July. Semonkong Lodge was basically the only option in accommodation, but the service is great. We went for the dormitory, this was a real dormitory (a lot of dormitories in Lesotho turn out to be double rooms with shared facilities) with 6 beds. Apart from the hike from... More

A great stop over in Lesotho. We had the top rooms with fire place, which I highly recommend in winter. The bedding was fantastic and we never got cold at all... A great place to relax and spend a few days in Lesotho. Be sure not to miss the absail, it is definitely worth it. Also,a highlight for is was... More

Semonkong Lodge is very comfortable and presents nice rooms with fireplace. The restaurant is also very good and changes the menu every day. We did a two-day horse ride, and slept at a farmer's place, which was a great experience (we had dinner with the guide and them). The landscapes that we came through are impressive and majestic (besides, we... More

I travelled with Australians who had not experienced Lesotho before and was very proud to be an African. The accommodation was rustic but clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hike to the falls was special with our guide Matšetši being very knowledgeable and patient with the geriatrics he was guiding. The falls are beautiful and worth the... More

if you go to semonkong, this lodge is the best place to stay. A bit expensive (and the prices continue to rise) but very nice. Great rooms, nice restaurant, nice staff, quiet atmosphere, and many great activites (we tried the two days horse riding with overnight in a village in the mountains, it was one of our best experience in... The lodge is well-integrated into the village. It employees villagers + the villagers run the activities program ( + we were told get all the financial benefit). Village life surrounds the lodge - where Basotho on horseback swathed in brightly-colored blankets ride up to and along the lodge and into the mountains. The food is exquisite ( anazing given the... Had an excellent time here! I arrived without booking after a tough, long travelling day (using six different means of shared transport from Underberg via Kokstad and Qacha's Nek) and was very friendly welcomed by the manager and his staff. I was so happy with this valuable bit of personal attention! I was lucky as they are often fully booked... More

It's along drive to reach Semonkong Lodge but the scenery en route is amazing and it is well worth the effort. We stayed in one of the thatched stone-walled huts which was very comfortable and clean. The meals served up in the Duck and Donkey Tavern were excellent, some of the best meals we've had in Southern Africa. Highlights of... More
