We were supposed to stay only one night , but the location , the delicious food and extremely good hospitality of Gisli and his wife made us change our mind We definitely enjoyed the two nights diners and breakfasts . Really an address to recommend without any doubt
As we were driving the ring road (counter-clockwise), we needed a place to stay somewhere between the Akureyri and the Snaesfellsness peninsula. Blonduos seemed like a good location. The location of Brimslod and the reviews of the dinners sold us. We were fortunate to book a room with a private bath. When we arrived we spent a few minutes chatting with Inga (one of the owners). She asked about my husband's Danish accent...and was delighted to tell us that we were going to be staying in a recently finished home next door. That 1882 home was disassembled and shipped from Denmark. Our room was beautiful...with an ensuite bathroom and a lovely deck overlooking the water. We joined a number of other guests for dinner that night in the main house. Inga's husband, Gisli, is a chef and served a wonderful three course meal. It was a lot of fun spending the evening chatting with visitors from all over the world. That night, although the forecast was predicting cloudy weather, we sat on our deck and photographed the northern lights! What a great place! Highly recommend!…
Outside appearance of Brimslod Atelier Guesthouse didn't look encouraging, but the interiors were very different. Stylish, modern, high ceilings, state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. The owner Inga Elsa is a friendly host and good cook. And the beautiful ocean views from the dining room.
Gisli, the owner is a fabulous cook! We had dinner there with absolutely no regrets! Served local fish, link, that was delicious. Magda, our hostess, was more than accommodating. She provided whatever we asked for with a smile! Highly recommend. Our view at the table was magnificent and conversation with other guests interesting.
Attractively decorated. Bathrooms were shared, but rather lavish. Bedroom lacked storage room. Dinner was excellent and the host/chef happy to talk about the food and other Icelandic matters. We had the opportunity to talk to the other guests round the dinner table, which created a really good atmosphere. I texted the day we arrived saying I don't eat lamb and they were very accommodating, despite the short notice. Lovely views of the sea from the dining room. We were pleased we stayed here. Breakfast was good. Slight issue with making everyone eat breakfast at the same time is all the bathrooms then get clogged up!
