I sometimes tip the waiters and waitresses and it has come to my attention that they don’t even get the tip that i have given to them, instead it goes in a pot which they then don’t see again or barely get any of. Very disappointed, im sure people higher up earn enough to not need tips as well as their salary. However food is amazing and drink selection is good, just a shame the young staff members dont get the tips they deserve.

We visited here for a wedding meal on a Friday lunchtime. The meals everyone received were fantastic and good sized portions. The staff made everyone feel very welcome especially the newly married couple . Everyone really really enjoyed themselves .

This supposed to be a treat for our team, and picked this place as a few of us had great experience here before. The management and “dedicated” staff member managed to lose 5 customers in 1 go including prior regulars. We have been served by a lady whose name unfortunately we didn’t get however she worked on the 04.06.2019, long black hair. Well I would recommend that she does not interact with guests until can learn to control the facial expression and does not treat customers as inconvenience just to be there so she has to stop chatting. Luckily Sophie took us over who was the only person who seemed to know about customer service including the manageress. Starters were divine, including main courses although side dish was missed off as apparently it did not go through the till. Oh well, after Black haired lady once again treating us like it is our fault Sophie recovered it again for the place but started to be a bit uncomfortable. We ordered dessert, we got the cutlery for it and after........thumbleweed. After waiting for over 45 min we asked where is our order and it took again almost 10 min for the Black haired lady to come back and with a “face on” tell us that our order did not go through the till but we can have free tea or coffee. brilliant. I would’ve even mind that much if the staff comes to us to tell us there is an error as in an almost empty restaurant if you care just a tad you would’ve see that perhaps we should’ve been served. So we asked that maybe a free dessert would be more appropriate after all the shenanigans, away again, returns another 5 min later ( started to think to get rooms) that we can get 3 pudding free out of the 5. That was the point when it became completely embarrassing and asked for the manageress and we were in for a treat....no real apology, probably trained together with the Black haired lady...claimed that the failure is not their fault and other people didn’t get their pudding either ( quite passive aggressive tone, by far not what I would expect in her line of work). And this should help us how?!?!! Anyway comes to payment. On the top of everything they’ve decided to overcharge us. 4 of us eat a meal deal and 1 just a main course. They’ve picked the most expensive main course to be charged separately, regardless that it was actually part of the meal deal and just for cherry on the top added the supplementary charge on the top of it. Did we get an apology? Nope. Will we return? Hell no! ( what is a shame as the food was to die for)

We were recommended by someone who owns blyton ponds fishery. Really excellent service and food. We will be visiting again in August. A really up to date place to be both inside and out. This is also what looks to be a first class hotel although I haven’t stayed
