We called to come for a breakfast at 9 am from a nearby suites in the same village where we were staying. Hotel San Martin offers a self service breakfast but we came to almost empty, picked over and messy buffet that was not replenished while we were eating. Very average food, bad coffee, cheap juice. And all that for 15 € per person (though on the phone they said 12 €). I understand it's a great location and the prices are set higher but you have to offer something for that price. 30 € for that food is offensive. On the previous morning we ate fabulous breakfast for 50 € at Morus estate and for that one we would pay even more.
We loved our stay at Hotel San Martin. The views are beautiful, the food is excellent, and the wine is plentiful. We found our room to be nicely appointed and spacious by European standards. We made friends with one of the servers our first night and spent some late nights trading stories and sharing schnapps. The Owner, Vesna, treated us like family, and no request seemed too difficult. She and her team shuttled us around and helped us add a third winery to our tour which turned out to be the best one we went to. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy Slovenian wine country. We usually love new experiences, but for sure we will come back soon to stay with Vesna!
We received a very friendly welcome when checking in. But otherwise, this felt more geared towards tour parties than individual travellers. For dinner, there was seemingly a choice of only two three-course menus (at €25 each), with no vegetarian options. We opted instead for dinner at Hisa Marica, which proved to be a very good choice.
It’s the best located hotel in Brda. Incredible views through the window from the hotel’s bar, lounge and dining area. Decent modern rooms. Plenty of parking. Very friendly, young and nice staff. Perfect!
This lovely new hotel has a beautiful view. The service is very good and the rooms are new, clean, bright and lovely. The location is good. We ate in their dining room and the meal was good. They had good bar service.
We are in the unit below the reception area, 1 bedroom with queen size bed, single bed & cot if needed, lounge/dining/kitchenette and bathroom/toilet. Also with a balcony from the bedroom and also the lounge area. Our experience has been nothing short of amazing. Our breakfast was included in the price and it was buffet style with a great range of food. Having a sore throat, the staff made me scrambled eggs in the morning to make it easier to eat. Gave me a jar of honey to help me swallow better etc. If you want a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, clean and cosy, this is the place for you. All bend over backwards to make sure your stay is the best it can be.
Great located hotel in the heart of one of Slovenia's best wine regions. History also abounds in the area. Hotel is modern and functional with great views from rooms and relaxing areas. Staff were very friendly.
After a long day of touring Slovenia, including a wine tasting at a local winery, we arrived and were told by our guide that there were very few options in Smartno, especially dining options. We were informed that the people were nice enough to keep the restaurant open and what they had left was what would be our options. Fair enough - very kind of them. Regrettably there was zero vegetarian options. There were about ten carnivore options like beef tongue, salmon, cold cuts, etc. actually one veg option was veggie lasagna which I declined expecting it to be a big blob of cheese and oil. No problem - I make sure I have a big jar of nuts and some Clif bars in my luggage. The annoying thing was the “free wi fi.” There was wi fi but it only worked in the lobby, as far as I could tell. This might seem picky but really - if they can get it to work in the lobby how hard would it be to get it into the rooms? In this era people like to look at their email and check their local news at night. The building was very attractive - it looks like an older hotel that got a nice facelift. The elevator was a bit odd - hit 1 for the floor that has the 200 numbers rooms. The room was fine. I’ve been told that the air conditioning in European hotels is not like it is in US hotels - the story checks out. We tried opening the outside doors but our room was right over a relatively busy street, and also partners were arriving from nights out so we shut the doors to reduce the noise. The next morning I had low expectations for the breakfast and was happy to discover they had the typical excellent European buffet. In general I’d say most people would like this hotel but then again it wouldn’t hurt if they’d try to accommodate vegetarians a little better. There actually are a lot of us out there.…
We have booked this hotel weeks before trip only to arrive late in the afternoon and find out they have double booked rooms so we were left without. Funny thing is they confirmed our reservation over phone 3 hours before we arrived on the same day and they didn't mention any double booking. They offered us far worse room, situated 500m from hotel, with no view and no service and all that for the same price (I quote, that was the good news according to them). They will never see us again there. Triple check your reservation with this hotel because double checking is apparently not sufficient!
Very nice rooms, staff is ok. Wellness with sauna and jacuzzi is clean and has a grat view! we did had bugs in our room, but they come from outside every time you open the window. Food is good, so is the wine. TOP LOCATION !
