We had a wonderful two-night stay at River View. The cottage is *not* in the same area as Alta Crystal Resort (about 15 mins earlier on 410). The cottage was well-equipped. The hot tub had a problem so property management offered our family the BBQ dinner and wine on the house, which was a welcome gesture (kids were tired after a full day of hiking). Will definitely visit again!

We loved our charming Hawthorne Cabin. Alta Crystal’s location and amenities were great, and the staff was helpful. The cabin’s location is wonderfully quiet. The deck and hot tub face away from the rest of the resort, and are within earshot of a bubbling creek. Lots of outdoor seating. We enjoyed the walking trails around the property. The cabin could use a little updating (some peeling veneers, chipped tile, warped window screen, etc.) but was cute and comfortable. Fans were provided. The loft bedroom and balcony are very romantic. Stairs up to the loft were carpeted and had a landing and handrail, so they were easy to navigate. The bathroom was small, but had good counter and shelf space. Dispensers in the bathtub provided nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The shower water pressure and temperature were excellent, but the drain was slow and left us standing in water after a short time. (I reported this to staff.) The kitchen had the basics. Salt and pepper were provided, as well as one pot’s worth of coffee. The fridge is dorm size; it would be hard to store enough food for more than a couple of days. (The gift shop did have a well chosen selection of snacks, drinks, and basic foods, including salad, ice cream, and ground beef.) I would have liked some ice, but there was so much frost in the little freezer, it left no room for ice trays. The wifi was surprisingly OK for the remote location. Devices didn’t stay connected when not in use, but after a brief connection delay, internet service was fast enough to stream short videos. We had decent Verizon voice service, but data was slow. Very nice property; I would stay here again. The location near Mount Rainier can’t be beat!

We just returned from a short getaway at Mt. Rainier, staying at Alta Crystal Resort. We have stayed here previously for skiing, but this was the first summer visit. We go for hiking, and we now know this is the best place to stay on the Sunrise side of the park. We like to do our own cooking, and the kitchen in our 1-bedroom suite, while compact, was certainly adequate and equipped with the basics ( dishes, pots and pans, silverware and cooking tools). High recommended for your time in this beautiful park!

I booked this property from afar, Arizona, specifically, not knowing anything about Mount Rainier National Park. Hence I did not know that this is located in a remote area, not at the main entrance. Cell phone coverage is spotty; getting gas can be challenging; there are hardly any restaurants and what is there closes early. When my friend and I arrived in early August, we dropped our stuff at the room and went immediately to the park. When we got back in early evening, my friend's parking lights were stuck on and would not turn off. We realized if the lights stayed on the battery would run down and we'd be stuck, with no garage in sight. We also needed gas, and had to drive 20 minutes in the opposite direction to get it at an unmanned gas pump by the side of the road that charged $5 a gallon. On the way back to the resort, we were running through the doomsday scenarios of getting stuck in the wilderness. I wished aloud: maybe the hotel's night clerk is a guy who knows how to fix cars. My friend said: nah, it'll be a 22-year-old woman who knows nothing about cars and doesn't care. We made it back to Alta Crystal, walked to the front desk, and there sat a young woman with rainbow colored hair whose name is Holly. We told her our story. No problem, she said. I know a lot about cars. I used to drive that model Subaru. My husband and my Dad are mechanics.. Let's have a look! So much for gender stereotyping. Holly got behind the wheel, tested the lights in different configurations, then all of a sudden, they went out! The parking light switch on the steering column was stuck in the "on" position and she turned it "off." Hallelujah! What a relief! She pointed out another car in the lot and said she fixed that one, too. Amazing! We will forever be grateful to Holly. A word about the property...there is no air conditioning, and though it's probably rarely needed, when it's hot, it's stuffy in the rooms, especially the loft where we stayed. This is a rustic lodge that was originally built for a college men's ski team, and it has that feel, more of a cabin than a resort. Bring your own food and wine because offerings are slim. Arrive with a full tank of gas. But if you have car trouble, Holly's got you covered!

Hi Azonie, Thank you for the feedback as we're always seeking ways we can improve our quality and service for the best guest experience. So happy to hear Holly was able to assist you with your vehicle and put you and your friend at ease. High temperatures are definitely out of the norm here in Washington but that seems to be changing as most places are in the country. We're working on updating our rooms to help accommodate our guests with the new heat! We hope to see you again in the near future! Safe travels, Charles Chan, Interim General Manger

This is a reflection of the rental property owned by Crystal Resort, and not upon the resort itself. Beautiful house along the white river. Very comfortable beds, large kitchen, huge outdoor deck space with fire pit. When we first arrived, only 2 bedrooms downstairs were open, upstairs there was an additional locked bedroom. When we booked, the ad said 3 rooms, so when we arrived we had to call the staff to open up the third room. At first, the office told us that would be an extra charge of $75 a night if we wanted the third bedroom opened. When we told them that we originally booked the place it said there’s three bedrooms and we’re not aware of this extra charge, the manager called us back and gave us the code for the extra room and said we were in fact suppose to get the third room, so just be aware of that situation. The beds were all super comfy and well equipped with extra blankets and pillows. The bathrooms were clean and had JUST enough towels and supplies to last for the 4 nights we were there (my IBS had me worried I’d have to buy some extra TP). The washing/dryer machine are small in size and no detergent was available. The views were outstanding, the house very charming, and the location just 30 miles outside Mt Rainier made it worth recommending. I am giving it four stars because I believe for the price we could have had better amenities, including laundry detergent, extra TP/tissues/towels, more dishes/coffee cups and there should MOST DEFINITELY be wine glasses for a vacation rental!! Also to note there is no dishwasher, which makes cleaning the small amount of dishes after each use a necessity if dining in.
