Our first experience of staying on a ranch exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation was very comfortable with the bonus of looking out at the horses grazing nearby, and the occasional coyote. We did horse riding and the canoe trip during our stay, both of which were excellent and very informative for us 'townies'. Saw our first black bear on...

If you are travelling from Jasper to Whistler this is a lovely place to break the journey. We picked it mainly for its location and also for horse riding. You can pick various horse trails, either for beginners or riders. The horses are well trained and trustworthy and even though it rained for the whole 3 hours we still enjoyed...

We stayed here for two weeks. These are beautifully located cabins, with kitchenette and fridge, clean with nice patio. Location is perfect for hikes in Wells Gray park. The only thing we did not like was the restaurant. Basically, you get no choice at all. On the first night, we hoped to get a 3-course meal from the choice menu...

We stopped at Wells Gray Guest Ranch for one night on our way from Whistler to Jasper. It was a pleasant stop after a long day of very scenic driving. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and our children (10 and 18) played with several kids vacationing from Europe. However, I would recommend eating somewhere other than at...

I booked this ranch with the idea of a real Canadian experience. Not the case. The owner is Austrian and the ranch is a "ranch" in name only. We booked a wildlife viewing trip which was very expensive and had to share the trip with 10 other people. The guide told us that any more than 4 people was a...

This is a ranch in the middle of Wells Gray Park (27 km inside the park). We had the two rooms upstairs. The rooms were big but also outdated. The smell of food (bacon and eggs, oven roasted stuff) is in your room the whole day. The prices for dinner and breakfast are way too high! You can go horseriding...

This place has an odd feel to it. It basically caters for coach parties of German tourists to give them a wild-west type experience. From the website I thought that the bar might be somewhere locals go, and that there might be a genuine ranch atmosphere to the place - but in truth there isn't. It is a perfectly reasonable...

We stayed at the guest ranch with the idea of it being a working ranch with a real saloon where the locals enjoyed a beer or two after a hard day hearding the cattle... not the case. It was more like a movie set... the food dreadful and the saloon was only open for 3hrs max and anyone who knows...

We had a one night stay at the guest ranch. It is a beautiful spot next to beautiful Wells Gray Park and is very restful and quiet. The room was large and warm and clean. Staff seemed friendly. We did not get to do any activities at the ranch because our stay was only one night. Also, the restaurant was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
WESTERN HOSPITALITY ON A GUEST RANCH AT THE ENTRANCE TO BEAUTIFUL WELLS GRAY PARK Despite the rapid growth of its urban centers, much of Western Canada is still untamed frontier. One of those areas is the Wells Gray Park, 5200 sq. kilometer of protected wilderness in Central British Columbia. Bounded on the north and east by the Cariboo Mountains, and on the west by an upland plateau, the Wells Gray Park encompasses a broad spectrum of mountain scenery. The area is abundant in flora and fauna. Caribou, moose, black bear, beaver and wolf freely roam the park, and local streams are well stocked with trout. Horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking, river rafting, hiking and canoeing into the local wilderness are all part of the ranch's daily summer routine. In the winter the most popular activities are dog-sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing. Your skilled guide will lead you to adventures on remote mountains, valleys and lakes in a setting as spectacular as it is challenging ... more   less
