We just returned from a weekend getaway and we could not have been happier. We spent all of Saturday at the Spa and I have to thank the awesome staff at the Hydrospa for an amazing day. Our breakfast, lunch and dinner were all excellent and we had great service at all 3 restaurants. Definitely will return

I booked a 1 night stay to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. We got compliments from the hotel in our room which is a bottle of wine, chocolates and a greeting note addressed to my mom. We truly appreciate this kind gestures. The layout and hotel grounds is nice. You can walk all around if you are up for burning calories but shuttle golf carts are available anytime from the lobby to the beach which is so useful as my mom cannot walk that far and the amount of stairs to walk from hotel to the beach front is exhausting for her. Lots of water activities such as kayaking, canoeing, bike, swimming. There are beach chairs and cabanna available on a first come basis. Deck restaraunt is nice for snacks or lunch with a nice view of the lake. The only downside here is the service is slow. We ate breakfast and Dinner at Cottage restaurant. It has a nice relax ambiance, high ceiling. Food is fine. Room is nice and spacious. I only booked the studio no view but even that is enough since we are mostly outdoors. I was worried about the bad review but I did not see experience those negatives. We will come back for sure.

Great mini getaway from the city. Location view was beautiful, restaurant offerings were great for a 2-3 day stay. Lots of activities for the kids and the rooms were well stocked with amenities. Overall great family stay with the kids and can’t wait to be back during the holiday seasons.

We have been doing a short tour around Eastern Canada on our honeymoon, and we’re so glad with the location of this hotel- countryside, lakes, great views. We did visit in off-peak season but still had a lovely time walking and seeing all the local wildlife. We didn’t use the pool or other amenities but were given an information package on arrival about what was happening over the Halloween weekend. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We hadn’t booked breakfast so maybe consider this, but the staff member was more than helpful getting us fitted in. The room was gorgeous, comfy bed, good kitchen facilities and a lovely view. The toiletries were also lovely, and we felt the room was clean. The overall atmosphere in the hotel was so relaxing and everyone around us seemed to be having a good time too. Our only downside was the price of breakfast but to be honest, the food was great and we could have eaten more.

Got into our bed. Realized it felt wet. Realized I was lying on a dirty wet face towel? Totally gross. Called reception. They said they would send someone to change the bedding. I realize the wrinkled bedding wasn’t changed at all. Later after returning tot he room I drop a cable and when retrieving it it I find a used champagne cork under the couch and then look under the bed to find lots of debris. Clearly there is a housekeeping issue here. Restaurant uses cheap packaging, plastic condiment holders, diner butter packages, paper towels and no plates for the Wings which are only available with a spicy dry rub that most people return. Plus tax, serice charge fee and resort fee. Cheap, badly run, corner cutting ‘Five star” operation. Shame on you. Bar tender was miserable and no contact. No communication or issuing a menu. Had to beg for roll ups and no side plates. It was as if she was doing me a favour in striving us food and Beverage. Entitled attitude. And I have three days to go. No choice as I’m here for a conference. And it took 33 mins to upload this due to slow wifi.

The staff were excellent. They went above and beyond. They sometimes seemed rushed but that is an understaffing issue not an underworking issue. The hotel was clean. We stayed 3 nights and house keeping only came once which was unusual but every time we called for toilet paper or towels they were brought up. My main concern is the placement of the resort. It is up on a hill. When you arrive at the front there is a lower down parking lot, so after you park you need to hike up to the hotel, and in back is the lake. From the mezzanine (basement) level you need to walk down 122 steps across approximately a dozen staircases to get to the beach. We managed but its a hike. If you have someone with mobility issues this would be difficult. We used to stay at the near by Clevelands House and it is on a wide, low lot facing the water. There we could walk across the grass from place to place and it had a really great vibe. The Marriott seems more like a lot of concrete levels connected by stairs. The view is beautiful but accessibility to the water falls short. Compared to Clevelands House, the Marriott is on a narrow, high property. The main bar, near where you check in, also seemed very clubby. If you took a picture of it and said you were in Vegas I'd believe you. I personally would prefer a more cottagey vibe throughout the resort. More wood, paddles, canoes, feathers, the smell of cedar, piles of dried wood by the fireplaces, boughs of evergreen. We came to cottage country to get out of the city and enjoy some time by the lake, not to feel like we're back in the city again. We also found the gift shop very small and hard to find. It might make more sense to put the gift shop somewhere more central, make it way bigger and fill it up with great Muskoka sweatshirts, cool towels, local handmade fudge, and other fun souvenirs. We went looking for souvenirs but it was just a few generic, black Marriott branded hats and jackets. Staying at the resort was also very expensive but I feel like everything is expensive now so I guess that's just life. I will say that once we did get down to the beach we had lots of fun. There was a blow up water park which the kids played on. It was $30/kid for a day pass but well worth it. We also went canoeing and kayaking and enjoyed all the scenery.

The resort is very nice, the hotel room could use some upgrades and a bit more cleaning. Overall it’s like a little piece of paradise, awesome pools, great beach, well kept outdoor areas, food was good. The grounds are immaculate. I just wish they paid more attention to room cleaning and not ‘cut the corners’. Overall I give it 8/10 and will definitely return.

Spent the Thanksgiving staycation with family. Got a great room view from front desk agent Mai when we checked in. Her service was top notch with always listening, understanding and went beyond to the best touch by calling us after the check in for following up our satisfaction with the room type. I also wanna say “thank you” to the gentleman on the front drive (did not get his name) who was helping us with our belongings and reminding my kid for safety with my son’s little scooter🛴. He was very efficient by placing our belongings in the room prior we stepped in to the room. Thank you to the gentleman who did my check out at the front desk for offering us bottle of water, great farewell by the way. We got dinner and next day breakfast by ordering food from the restaurant and in room dining. Food was amazing with good taste, fresh and perfect portions to all of us. Thank you for everything and we are looking forward to be back soon.

In August 2022, myself and seven girlfriends spent a weekend at JW the Marriott to celebrate my best friend’s wedding. As the MOH, I started planning the getaway months in advance and was quickly linked up with the most amazing concierge, Amanda Morris. I told Amanda my vision for the weekend. She shared her thoughts, insights on the property and services and pulled so many strings behind the scenes. As the weekend approached, Amanda was in regular contact to ensure everything would be perfect for our stay. She even upgraded our suite to ensure we had the most comfortable space for our group size. Arriving at the resort, we were all in awe of the resorts amenities, layout and natural beauty. The front desk staff was friendly, efficient and informative! Our suite was incredible. Clean, spacious, well equipped… and that view!!! The grounds at the resort were meticulously kept. I had some tall requests of the resort and Amanda bent over backwards to ensure we were not disappointed. We brought with us a massive floatie raft, in the shape of a unicorn. The incredible beach staff inflated the floatie for us and brought it in and out of the water for us as we came and went. Thanks for your help with the floatie, Matt!! I also requested a private bon fire for our group. I expected a woodsy campfire but was floored when I found the most classy bonfire with breath taking views of the lake and sunset. We were surprised with complimentary sparklers, champagne and the most delightful charcuterie. Wow. Just wow. To top everything off, Amanda pulled strings and booked a private boat tour for us into Port Carling so we could enjoy dinner off site. The boat ride was beautiful. The guides from SWS gave us the gossip on where celebrities stay on Lake Rosseau and gave us control over the radio. This was a beautiful conclusion to a gorgeous day on the water! Our weekend away to celebrate our friend’s marriage would have been amazing with the resort and weather alone. However, the attention to detail, organization, thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity of Amanda pushed the weekend over top. The word amazing doesn’t give justice to our weekend. We were made to feel like VIPs. We had a weekend we’ll never forget. Thank you JW the Marriot. And thank you, Amanda - you are a gift. We appreciate you so much!!
