We returned to Susan's place for the 6th time in Feb'. As always we were welcomed as old friends, met some great people (all tremendous skiers and boarders) and the snow was just amazing - pure champagne powder! This is one of the best catered chalets we've stayed in (as Europeans, we've stayed in a lot), the food, ambiance and guiding (...are you sure that's ski-able Susan, it looks like a cliff to me??) are fabulous. We'll be going again....

Thank you Mark for your awesome review. I do seem to remember this past year your first day was 55cm of fresh champagne powder...thrown in at the deep end literally, having managed to get lines down first opening on a couple of runs! Great memories! Over the 6 visits to the chalet we have become great friends and even enjoyed a walk in the fabulous English countryside and pub lunch! Here's to many more adventures. Thanks Mark.

In 2007, our ski group chose Fernie as our ski destination. This was our initial introduction to Canadian Powder Tours. When we arrived at Susan’s, we felt at home. Her warm hospitality won us over immediately. On our “chef’s night off, we went to the fanciest restaurant in downtown Fernie. On our way home after the meal, everyone did not comment on the great meal we had, but rather wondered what elegant cuisine would await us for supper the next night. Twelve years later, we made our 9th trip to visit Susan and Canadian Powder Tours. Recently, we have booked our 10th visit for February 2020. There are many reasons why we have kept on returning. Obviously, the main reason is Susan. She wears many hats including: top-notch hostess, great chauffeur to the ski hill, a seasoned experienced guide on the ski hill and five-star (*****) gourmet chef. To me, the friendship that we have developed with Susan is the most precious. Obviously, when people come to Fernie it is for the skiing. Over the years, Susan has guided us to almost all of her hidden gems, resulting in super skiing conditions and experiences that will last a lifetime. If you are looking for a really unique ski experience, I recommend Canadian Powder Tours. A visit with Susan will be a very memorable experience. Paul Johannsen, Chelsea Québec

Well thank you very much Paul! We have indeed shared many amazing years and had every type of ski conditions! You have conquered more than you both thought possible and are hardened BC powder skiers now! In fact, you even have a cliff named after you and Mary has a tree named after her! And you do wear fat skis once a year now! I am so grateful to have made such dear friends as yourselves and also know such passionate ski industry people, your work in the industry in Eastern Canada is so important and encouraging. You are both great friends and I can't wait to see you again this coming February! Thank you for your review Paul.

I cannot recommend Canadian Powder Tours highly enough. I first visited with my children - who had never skied - 12 years ago and have returned every Christmas since. All are now experienced extreme skiers, always looking for the ‘gnarly’ runs which Susan the host never fails to find! My son loved it so much he qualified as an instructor and did a season teaching!! The ski school is excellent for beginners and for those who want to experience the legendary deep powder. The chalet is a beautiful, warm welcoming place and Susan always treats us like family. Meals are always delicious as well as being healthy, organic and plentiful. A hearty breakfast before hitting the slopes. Afternoon tea and then a 3 course dinner with local wine sat around the huge communal table, beautifully laid out with fellow skiers recounting a days fun on the slopes. Then retiring to a huge roaring fire in the living area with comfy sofas and floor cushions. There is also a hot tub to sit in to soothe aching muscles - look up at the mountains watch the sunset along with the occasional wildlife visit and a cool beer!! The most exceptional offer with this chalet is the guiding, Susan can find fresh untracked snow, hidden runs and exposes us to places that without a guide you would never get to experience. We have experienced Fernie at its very best - deep powder - also at times when the snow hasn’t fallen so much but I’ve never, in all my visits been disappointed So .... check out Fernie and the chalet, you WILL have an amazing experience.

Thank you so much Leonie. We have definitely had many years of amazing times together and been a part of each others lives. The one Christmas you didn't come it didn't feel the same at all! You are all "local" Fernie skiers now, having conquered more steep and deep than you could've imagined! I look forward to seeing you all every time at your second home in Fernie! Thank you for your lovely review Leonie.

We stumbled across Canadian Powder Tours when arranging our trip to Fernie, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice! The chalet itself is beautifully furnished, and the perfect place to come back to after a day on the slopes. The quality of the meals produced (Breakfast, Afternoon snack, Dinner) was exceptional and all served in a communal setting that meant we got to know our fellow guests very quickly and spent many evenings recounting stories from the slopes. A real perk of staying with Canadian Powder Tours is being guided around the slopes of Fernie by Susan. Her knowledge of the ski area meant that we were riding fresh lines day after day. The hospitality shown by Susan and her team during our stay was unparalleled and made our trip truly unforgettable, I cannot recommend the whole experience highly enough and look forward to going back next year.

My partner and I visiting Fernie on a snowboarding trip in February this year and were intrigued by the catered chalet concept that Canadian Powder Tours offered so thought we'd give it a go. We absolutely did not regret it!! The chalet is amazing, such a unique find with beautiful homely furnishings, a huge shared living space and very nice rooms with comfortable and relaxing beds. Susan the host and owner treated us like family; we felt right at home from the moment we arrived and had a wine in our hands chatting around the fire and laughing within minutes! Susan and her staff cook organic, healthy and absolute delicious meals. You get breakfast and a top quality three-course evening meal included so you don't have to worry about a thing after a day on the slopes. And part of the fun is getting to know the other guests and sharing stories over a communal meal. An added bonus was heading out on the slopes with Susan - we were lucky to experience Fernie on top form with heaps of snow (55cm overnight!), and getting guided by Susan meant we were taken to all the best spots with completely untouched powder that we would never have found on our own. We had the best day boarding ever! After a day on the slopes we loved having a beer in the hot tub overlooking the mountains as the sun came down. If you are considering a stay at Canadian Powder Tours - DO IT! You will not regret it and we're already planning to go back next year!
