We booked an ocean front king suite only to be placed in a room overlooking the parking lot. If you stand and look out the window, you can view the ocean in the distance. Called front desk and asked for another room. Front desk staff are rude and unaccommodating. Would never book here again.

Hotel's Favorite
During Covid and the upcoming long fall / winter with limited options for entertainment, my husband and I have decided to book one local BC getaway per month throughout the winter. This all in an effort to save our sanity and support the BC tourism economy. Our first Fall trip was Sooke Oceanfront resort in Sooke. Danielle sent me an email with recommendations on things to do in the area and Jacob took such good care of us from the moment we arrived. The property is stunning and situated on a marina where you can catch a whale watching trip, join a fishing charter or rent kayaks to tour the local bay. And the easy hikes in the area are numerous. I really recommend a weekend at the Prestige Sooke Oceanfront to experience a true BC weekend and recharge the batteries.

I booked two nights in a two queen ocean view room with a balcony. The photos show a lovely green colonial style room with a wood look floor. (With allergies I hesitate to stay in carpeted hotel rooms.) The hotel was lovely and the lobby looked newly remodelled in a modern blue sea theme. When we saw our room I was shocked. It was dated, dark, with carpets. The worst part was my ocean view meant standing on the edge of the balcony and looking around the dividing fence between my balcony and the room next to me. From in the room all I could see was into other rooms. I went to the front desk to inquire if there had been a mistake. A woman, I assume the manager, saw I was upset and offered to try to help. Apparently the room type I saw in the picture was not available for my stay (made my reservation months ago) and they considered my room in the same category. She did move me to a room with a better view where I could actually see the water from in the room. She claimed it was an upgrade. It was however still very dated, carpeted, and dingy. The food in the restaurant was very good and breakfast service was good. Dinner service was very slow and they made mistakes on my bill, charging for things I didn't order. The grounds were lovely, most of the staff friendly, but I don't think I will be returning.

Interestingly, Sooke was at least 3 degrees cooler than Victoria and since it is situated by the water, with a brisk wind, you wouldn't know there was a heatwave over BC whilst staying here! The lobby and the back terrace is the best bit to this place: refreshingly bright, clean and modern, with white columns and wavy palm trees to give some wow factor. The rooms are average for a resort, with the added nice perks of bathrobes and tv in the washroom. The small swimming pool was a little murky with a slightly inefficient booking system (Covid) and front desk is a little slow with only one staff member manning it. It's still great for a short getaway and well-priced when booking during low season or advance payment, etc.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort. Our room was very comfortable and had all the amenities of a five star resort. The staff were friendly and helpful and eager to please. We very much enjoyed the beautiful grounds with all the interesting trees and shrubs. Very very nice!
