Went for a little get away from Vancouver to celebrate my birthday. GM Jacob was very helpful and reserved a water view king room for us. Every one was very nice in Prestige, they even wrote a little b’day card for me :) The washroom was bigger and feel more luxurious than the pictures on their website, we really liked it. I won’t question even if they mark the hotel as a 4-star. There weren’t a lot of people in the hotel (guess they do have regulation of maximum guest per day) so we feel quite safe during our stay. The room was well sanitized too (although the sofas could be deep cleaned for the dark marks overtime). It was cloudy during our stay so we didn’t catch any sun rise or sun set. However, the hotel has a great water view and I am sure it will be a pretty bonus to relax during sunny days. Please note that the $10 voucher for their restaurant downstair is only for dine in. It would be better if it could work for take out to our rooms though (as the restaurant gets a bit busier at night and take out will be safer for both employees and guests). The food was good, but could be better for the price point. All in all, we enjoyed staying with Prestige Resort and will certainly recommend it for any one who is planning a trip to Sooke (or even to nearby Langford or Victoria since they are just 30-60 min drive away). We will certainly consider staying with BW again for our next travel as well.…
I made the mistake of staying here in November. The bathroom smelled of mildew. The room was not clean. Come on. In the time of COVID this is especially important but these guys have failed miserably. To top it off the have staff that show attitude towards guests? Do yourself a favour and avoid this terrible hotel property.
Stopped by with family to enjoy a meal but upon entry saw that none of the guests in the lobby were wearing masks or social distancing, and staff were not making any effort to enforce this. There was a large wedding happening with guests milling around the lobby. We opted to leave as it did not feel like a safe environment.
There is an element of sloppiness that irritates. What could have been a four star rating slipped to a two. In order of events: while the hotel has a prominent sign re masks, guests came through the lobby without while checking in. After unloading the luggage in the room we noticed potato chip pieces (see photo) around the couch and other areas. Someone didn't vacuum? At $250 the promised ocean view with balcony turned out to be a room at the end of a tunnel (see photo), surrounded on both sides with the wings of the hotel. Even in mid summer you would only have a few hours of sunshine on that deck. Bringing the cleanliness issue to the attention of the front desk was immediate followed by an offer to send staff to vacuum. We declined. Every hotel we stayed at over the last few months has a no staff entry into a guest room while you stay there during the covid epidemic. Mentioning that the room doesn't really qualify due its very limited view of the ocean channel as 'ocean view' was followed with:' how much would you like to pay'. At the surface generous, but when we suggested that it was at the hotel's discretion, we were told that 'let me see what I can do'. In view of lack cleanliness and lack of value a room change would have been appropriate. When he didn't ask for the room number and turned to the next guest it was clear that he had no intention of doing anything. …
Hotel is lovely, and we are not sure if the very limited hours of the coffee shop were Covid related or if this was the regular operating hours. Check in is at 4:00.....coffee shop closes at 3:00.... would have loved a coffee or tea as we needed a pick me up after travelling. The grounds were well manicured and had it been summer instead of fall, it would be nice to sit outside by the fire tables. Rooms quiet.
