I go to Orillia all the time, this is my go to hotel for work. It is not the fanciest but it is the nicest, largest rooms and comfy beds. I love that the windows and doors open for real fresh air, so few hotels allow that anymore. The staff is great, I have never had any issues and they are helpful when ever I need anything. The rooms are big, lots of space. The kitchen in the suites is a full kitchen (Everything but a stove) with a full size fridge and a grocery store is right next door, so it is easy to bring my own food in. The bath rooms are big and most rooms the sink is separate from the shower and toilet. The showers work well and the water is always hot. I find the other hotels in Orillia either not as big, or clean but small and typical (And more money). There is some wear and tear but I have never had an issue with overall cleanliness.

We stayed in one of the suites for two nights. (Friday and Saturday ). When we arrived our tv would not work in the bedroom. The manageress came immediately and switched out the box and had it working again. The rooms were clean, it was nice and quiet, the bed was comfortable ( we took our own pillows) the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is minimal but we had stayed before and knew what to expect. The lake is a 10 min walk and there are two well-groomed rail trails very close for bicycling and hiking. We would stay there again.

Stayed here for one night while in town. Very nice hotel with a pool and continental breakfast. We stayed in a suite which had a fridge, microwave, actual dishes and silverware. Room was spacious. We did however almost get locked out late at night because our key didn’t work and the front desk was closed. Fortunately we found a door unlocked.

The staff was terrific. However, the manager's demeanour significantly shifted when I indicated that the room did not have phone or TV access for my one-night stay. Instead of accepting responsibility, he blamed the housekeeping staff and did not apologize or offer any pricing adjustment. Stated bluntly, "That is not how we do things around here." Essentially, the change in demeanour concerned me most. As it stands, I can not recommend or stay at this hotel again.

Booked at Stone Gate Inn in Orillia as we had a family funeral to attend. Called a few days before our stay to ask if we could have late checkout. The answer was a firm no because the hotel was fully booked and the room would need to be cleaned for the next guest.
I tried calling for hours on our check in date because we would be arriving late. We had been advised upon booking to call the hotel if we would be late but unfortunately the hotel's phones were broken. I called the grocery store next door and a young man answering the phone walked over to tell the hotel we may be late.
Upon arriving, we asked about late checkout again. The clerk said it would be $50 extra. We realized after a couple of hours that the connecting door to the next room had no lock. We were offered another room but I said how could that be possible when the manager told me the hotel was fully booked. NOT. The pool is under construction which the hotel site failed to mention. The site also mentioned room service. NOT. Not even coffee. The room had a coffee machine with 3 pods and no creamer packs or stir sticks. When we checked in at 6 pm there was a person slumped over in a chair. At 9 pm the person was still there. I was told it was an employee. The person at the front desk said she was new but didn't know much. She did try to be helpful and was pleasant. Very disappointed to say the least. We will never stay here again.

I’ve visited this place first in 2008 and 2013. 2013 I was really surprised that they haven’t renovated the place having the decor stuck in the late 1990’s. I wanted to give this place a try again based on previous experiences that were beyond expectations. I arrived at the hotel with only 2 cars in the parking lot and it was 4:00PM. I found that really odd because this place is always packed. Something seemed off.
Greeted by the one staff I checked into my room, to find out the small restaurant and bar was permanently closed. This was a great feature to have and it was great, they always had some sort of entertainment. I was really disappointed.
I walked into a very warm room and noticed that the rooms have not been touched or renovated since my initial visit in 2008. I turned the A/C on, the room was really stuffy and smelled closed in. The room took almost all night to get a bit cool. The AC unit was faulty all along, I had a hard time sleeping cause it was too warm, I did not feel like switching rooms as it was a hassle with a child.
The ceilings were falling apart, plaster peeling. Fixtures in the washroom were all loose, mold and water stains in the ceiling.
The kitchenette lacked utensils, dishes, cleaning products, like it used to have stocked automatically years past.
The pool needed a lot of work and some TLC, the border around the pool looked like it had green algae stains and the hot tub was empty and not functional. The water left at the bottom of the tub has mold and algae growing. The place had small towels not big enough to use around your body. And there was 2 to share for the 8 total guests that were checked in.
Breakfast was a joke and an embarrassment to even call it a breakfast, waffles were gross, you had to ask for eggs, sausages and utensils as they seemed to have a bare minimum on hand and too cheap to have the good stuff out and it was by order only only assuming not to waste food.
There was a repair man that was servicing the ice machine, I took a look inside and it was disgusting. I was lucky not to get ice from this thing, the drain was plugged full of who knows what. I know you have to clean those out every 3-6 months as mold and algae will grow in them.
This place is definitely not worth $198 per night, I will definitely not be returning. The new owners really have to step up their game in the hospitality business. Major upgrades need to be done to this place to keep business going. It is stating to look like an eye sore.

Have stayed in the past, probably 10 years ago now and really enjoyed our stay at that time. So, this time around we were coming for a concert @ Casino Rama and to do a bit of cycling the following day. We booked through Expedia but also checked the hotel site and they had no mention of not allowing bicycles in your room. Well to our surprise upon checking in, right at the reception is a sign on the counter, no bicycles allowed. To top it off, if they caught you sneaking a bicycle into the room, they would charge you $250.00.
We asked the front desk staff if they had a storage room where we could put the bikes overnight. That was responded with a rather snarky & smirky response of NO. They suggested we leave the bikes on the bike rack outside of the front door overnight, to which I responded, not a chance. To the non cyclist's out there, you would probably say what's all the fuss about with bicycles, well, like many things these days, they aren't inexpensive.
My partner spoke to the manager and she got an even nastier reception and response. We wound up going across the road to a small motel, not as nice of a place as Stone Gate but the owner was gracious enough to allow us to bring the bikes in the room.
To add to the story, 5 days later, my partner receives a phone call from some rude, obnoxious employee of Stone Gate to discuss our dissatisfaction. Probably due to the fact I gave them a bad review on their Facebook page. The employee was hard to understand, obviously English was not his first language and mentioned that the review would not help their business. A true genius if there ever was one, if you are in the service industry, customer satisfaction is key and if you don't like negative reviews, treat your guests in a more professional manner. Then after a few minute discussion back and forth, he obviously became quite agitated and hung up.
Great customer relations on their part. Well, now I will post a bad review wherever and whenever possible and never recommend this business.

Things missing in the hotel since new owners takeover a few years back. Ice bucket, Ice cube trays, plates and matching coffee cups, clock radio in bedroom, door that opens to let fresh air in. Door is there but will not open, flower boxes on balcony. Bar in lounge not stocked anylonger, no booze available. No hor'derves on Friday nights. Floors in kitchen not cleaned, stick to floor, glass windows in room covered in dirt smeers, desk have sticky finger prints, hair floating in jacuzzi. This room was not cleaned or disinfected dispite covid regulations. Had waffle maker and batter in breakfast room but now only eggo waffles to toast. No bagels or danish either. Since the hotel takeover there are no staff from Stonegate any longer, cleaning staff does not speak english, only spanish and if you complain to manager she does nothing but say I will take care of it, then does nothing. Swimming pool was 67F. 2 days later, same temp. even after complaining. Its one thing to try and save money as a hotel owner but don't call yourself a luxury hotel when you basically rate a #2 rating. If no improvement over the next few years this hotel will either go bankrupt or turn into a no tell motel. Lounge used to be full on FRIDAY nights from 5-8pm with guest eating and drinking. No drunks or problems just guests enjoying the hor'derves and drinking and making the hotel money.

No free wifi in room. Found some in overflow breakfast room. iPad said their Wifi network is operating on channels in use by other networks nearby! Asked to speak to Manager as l expected a room with Wifi. Manager never appeared over our 2 night stay. Elevator is unsafe. The door opens before the elevator floor and lobby floor are aligned. At least 2.5 to 3” difference so you WILL trip! A small warning note is not enough! We had cutlery and glass mugs etc. in room. Their policy is you have to wash what you used as there is no room service unless requested. Strange, but okay….until there was NO DISHSOAP in the room! Inexcusable with Covid. Last night there l woke up to loud music despite wearing custom fitted earplugs. Hotel policy is be considerate from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Finally at 2 a.m. l dressed and went downstairs. The festive music was coming from the front desk computer! Rang the bell. Employee comes from a door down the room hallway. She looked as if she had been napping. She wanted to know which room l was in. It was the room directly above the front desk. She turned off the volume but never apologized for the breach of policy. Looks are deceiving. The only good thing was a comfy bed and okay breakfast. I’ve never had an experience like this in 45 years of travelling. I will never stay there again.

Several things were not as advertised. We were planning on using the shuttle, to go see a Chicago concert, no shuttle, we brought swim suits pool and hot tub were down, we stayed 3 days, no maid service, so no clean towels, no garbage being collected etc. warm breakfast was scrambled eggs everyday, same apples sat in the basket for 3 days I. The lunch room for 3 days, they were really wrinkled up and there was no other fruit. They did have cereal, yogurt and toast. Our tv didn’t work, so after having them play with it for 3 hours I asked to be changed rooms, and our friends fireplace didn’t work. On the bright side, the rooms were clean, the one employee was so genuine and sweet, the girl on shift didn’t know how to fix our tv, so she called this other girl, who was making Easter eggs with her kids,to come help. She is a real gem,

Best to contact the hotel. Their in-room info details the schedule; if memory serves, they suggest reserving as it's a small bus. Runs weekends and "for select shows".
We had our own transportation. However, there is a shuttle to take you to places. We used it to go to the show at the Casino. It was very good. Call the inn to see if they can accommodate your requests.
