The Aguada was my mid stop in the tour of Belize. Apart from being a charming watering hole, they have a great compound where you can put your feet up at the end of a long day. I arrived at The Aguada at the end of a long days' travel and immediately felt refreshed after a cheap rum punch and... More

The hotel is just a bit too far out of town to walk, taxis cost around $10 Belize each way. Hotel is clean, bed a bit uncomfortable as its foam, so hot. Also scratchy sheets and old towels. Tiny bathroom. Food is ok, and meals are large. Clean pool & nice pond with frogs & turtles.

The hotel is a few kilometres from the CBD, but taxis very reasonable or you can walk, but beware, it is hot & humid. It's set in very well appointed garden with pond, where one can see turtles, huge iguanas, lots of birds & smaller lizards. Very nice pool, though they are a bit heavy-handed with the chlorine. Rooms very... More

We stayed as part of a tour and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The staff here were welcoming and keen to help with any queries. The room we had was of a decent size but the bathroom was very small and unfortunately during the entire two nights there, our room did not have water nor did other... More

We arrived on a Sunday late afternoon. Our room was clean but had no sheets. We waited another hour for housekeeping to bring sheets. (We were coming back from Walking all over Tikal. I looked like something the cat dragged in and just wanted a soft place to land.) Apparently the hotel had been busy the night before, which delayed... More

I have not stayed in the hotel, but have had lunch here twice. There is a large palapa and a cool tile floor in the outdoor seating area. The landscaping is gorgeous with a pond that sports water lilies, turtles and frogs. Large iguanas wander the grounds and cute little geckos scurry about. I regularly see herons and kingfishers at... We stayed here 11 years ago for our honeymoon. We just came back for our 11th anniversary. We stayed in one of the newest rooms. It was great! New bathroom, AC, Lat screen TV and you can access Free WIFI from their restaurant. Nice swimming pool. The staffs are great, hospitable and very accommodating. Thank you everyone for making us... We stayed here for 3 nights in January. We booked a room for 4 people. This consisted of 3 double beds in adjoining rooms, which is no big deal since we are a family. However, the adjoining room was like a strange neglected dorm room from the 70s. It did not have it's own bathroom or tv. The beds were... More

We've been visiting Belize for many years for an annual vacation. We stayed at the Aguada Hotel on our second visit and never stayed anywhere else. It had everything we wanted in a vacation hotel: family owned, mid-sized, secure, comfortable, beautifully landscaped, great staff, plus a first-rate swimming pool and a very good and very convenient restaurant. Year after year,... More

We stayed with our family of 5. We were able to get a room that had 3 double beds which worked perfectly for us. It also had a small table, chairs and a small couch. Great air conditioning, and hot water shower. There's the Aguada, which we nicknamed "turtle pond" which turned out to be a major highlight for our... More

Tucked away in a tranquil setting in San Ignacio's twin town, Santa Elena, you'll find The Aguada Hotel and Restaurant, named for a watering hole used by the Ancient Maya, and on our grounds sits a watering hole. This bucolic setting is attractively landscaped with blooming trees, orchids, iguanas, over 63 species of birds, and a lovely array of foliage and flowering plants. Combined with a charming atmosphere, attractive hardwood interiors, an excellent restaurant and bar, swimming pool complete with a patio, and all located in the best valued hotel in Belize; The Aguada is hard to beat.
