A truly exceptional experience from the moment we walked through the door at Sumbawa airport. Having wanted to bring our children here having last visited Amanwana in 2006 we were a little nervous that it would not be as amazing as we recalled but the resort exceeded all of our expectations. The transfer from Sumbawa was seamless with all the hospitality that makes Aman the #1 hotel brand. Probably our favourite part of Amanwana is that nothing has changed since 2006 (except the wifi is better). The snorkeling, scuba diving, sunset cruise, stargazing and waterfall trip were all incredible and being at Amanwana achieved the highest praise from my children of being "better than having their Ipad !!" It is really the incredible staff that make Amanwana truly special, they are constantly going the extra mile to make everything perfect for the guests. Special shout out from my children for Gideon who they both loved during the cruises and fishing trips !! Having just left we are already trying to work out how to return....

We stayed with the full board package all inclusive including the food and activities. So far, I can say this is the best Aman resort in Indonesia. I was surprised with their food taste and quality since the resort is located on the remote area. The staffs are super attentive and the location itself is so beautiful! The only downside is the weather since we stay in the raining season of November. I think if you stay on dry season, it will be amazing. The other thing that I want to highlight is the snorkling experience which can make you swim for hours to enjoy it.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. First and foremost the service! The best ever, in a league of their own! The activities great, and unique. The food was high quality and delicious for all the meals. We did the group trekking one morning and a private snorkling arranged by Amanwana another morning. Both super. I'd highly recommend Amanwana for anyone who wants a very special and Luxurious Vacation. Thank you mbak Susan & Amanwana Team!

It's hard to review Aman resorts as they are all five star. This one is definitely "excellent" but to put it up against, say, the Amandira boat is a tough call. Still...you can't go wrong. Amanwana is the original Aman and apparently the most beloved of the original founder. It is simpler, wilder, and more isolated than most Amans. "Best property on Moyo Island?" You mean...only property! Expect simple but beautifully appointed luxury tents set along a deserted beach...miniature deer walking up to your front door...mischievous (really mischievous!) monkeys trying to steal everything...and a whole lot of nothing to do but read books, swim, snorkel and grab mostly delicious meals in the open air restaurant. Moyo is not a destination in itself - it's best as a stop on your Indonesian itinerary (we did it between Amandira and Amanjiwo). A truly charming place but not the uber-luxury of most Amans...you need to be ready for this, and you will love the peacefulness.

Amanwana Aman had arranged our transfer between our hotels and the car and plane journey. We arrived at Amanwana late morning and looked forward to spending our 5 days/nights on this Robinson Crusoe luxury island. Unfortunately not a single piece of luggage turned up on the plane, for each and every passenger, and it would appear that it was because the plane was full and the hotel were aware of this ahead of take-off. I think that had we have been told, the guests with who we travelled with could’ve grabbed some bathing stuff and any medication needed. I was wearing a pair of trousers and a shirt and had packed my asthma pump. We finally got our bags around 7.30pm, which really and truly wasted the first day, as we weren’t dressed for this lovely place, so spent about 3 hours at the bar, and the following 4 hours in the room. I’m not sure the management dealt with it correctly as we weren’t properly informed, front of house was quite sharp with her response, and finally when I asked for the manager, he couldn’t be found and the assistant manager (very helpful and apologetic) finally explained the situation. But by this time it was dark and I was a annoyed. Not the first day that Aman promise at their hotels. Its so peaceful here, the cheeky monkeys are a delight and Selma the resident deer comes and chats to you while you’re sat down to eat! The chef is brilliant….he made us shashimi when it wasn’t on the menu, as a snack. The freshest of fish, amazing. But disappointingly, the long stretch of beach doesn’t have any beds and is quite stoney, so there is a small decking area with 12 beds on. The accommodation comprises of 20 tents which are all amazing, we were in the beach facing which I would recommend, but the jungle ones are only steps away. The trip to the local waterfall is a must. Its literally all yours, sooo private, but with 2 hotel staff to assist your every need. So in conclusion, Amanwana is very special, we loved it, the pace of life slows to a chill, you read, eat, lounge, swim, admire the beauty of where you are. But the communication regarding the baggage should be a simple exercise and some work on the beach would elevate it to somewhere unique and special.

Absolute paradise! Moyo island & Amanwana were the best part of our month long holiday in Indonesia. The snorkeling was unbelievable and there were so many other things to see & do on such a small island as well as just relax. The accommodation was luxurious & rustic. Can't beat waking up to an ocean view and falling asleep to the sound of waves. We felt so welcome by everyone & were even treated to a wine tasting and dinner with Robyn & Matt (general managers). They also created a personal menu for our dietary needs & it was some of the best food we had in Indonesia. We don't know if we can stay in any other place other than an Aman now! Say hi to Salma for us 🥰

Matt and Robin are such an excellent host. They greet us in the beginning of our trip and see to it that everything that we need are well taken care off. We are in the middle of Moyo jungle when it began to rain, and to our surprise within minutes Matt arrived with his mountain bike and stocks of umbrella. Food are always in abundant free flow, full hearted service at its best. You need a towel, forgot a sunblock, want to have honeymoon dinner at the beach, they will make it happen. A++

The site is ideal. The former GM apparently did such a poor job that although a super GM that we knew from Aman hi Kas in India has come to clean it up, it still is a bit chaotic in terms of service and is a huge contrast to Amandari and Amanjiwo. Nonetheless the nature and the sea makes you forget

My husband and I have just returned from 4 nights at Amanwana, it is a very peaceful resort and probably the most laidback/relaxed of all the Amans I've visited. The staff are lovely, very friendly and sweet, the GM is great too! For such a remote place the food was surprisingly excellent! So good in fact we asked the head chef to send us some recipes. Must try: soto ayam, banana pancakes for breakfast and the strawberry ice-cream - yum! I was a little disappointed though with snorkelling and diving, the coral is average, not colourful and quite damaged in some areas. We did see a lot of fish, black tip reef sharks, different kinds of star fish, a turtle, a sea snake, lobsters, squids etc. I highly recommend visiting Barry's Falls - a beautiful waterfall with big clear swimming holes. Also the sunset cruise and fishing, we caught a few small fish which the chef made into a curry for us! Plus if calm paddle boarding at sunset out to Crocodile Head (don't worry no crocodiles anywhere). But having stayed at around 7 Amans, I must say this was not one of my favourites, when you're paying so much you do expect a bit more. Not a big deal but dirty glasses were left in our room after the room was made up, wilted flowers left in our room a little too long and when we did a private beach drop off they forgot to give us cutlery so we couldn't eat half the picnic, but they did remember and brought it 2 hours later. The resort could do with a small refurb too.

....and are plotting when to return! we’ve stayed in 9 or so amans and this one is absolutely one of our favorites. yes, you’re basically ‘glamping,’ but that’s the charm of this particular aman in this particularly magical location. imagine out-of-this-world sunsets every evening, thousands of stars at night, and the kindest staff who truly became like family to us by the end of our week-long stay. the staff at this location absolutely made it, as well as the extremely unique location (and that’s saying a lot for an aman). we hope to see the exact same staff when we return in the coming years. the only note is that we too did not get the seaplane, and it’s sounding a bit like a recurring theme. arriving by seaplane would make it even more special—hopefully they can ensure that most guests get use of the seaplane unless there’s inclement weather. in our case we were told it was ‘being repaired’ which is too bad. but oh amanwana, what a special place you have in our hearts!
