We have visited Ko mook before and stayed at the mook lamai which has a small swimming pool which was 4 times the price, and I can honestly say this property was overall nicer. We were too late booking mook lamai so took a chance with this property. We had a room with air con, a fridge, a comfy clean bed with new blue sheets and a lightweight duvet. It had a tiled clean bathroom with hot shower. It had a little patio with two wooden chairs and a table in a pretty garden where you could relax watching the visiting birds and butterflies. There was a clothes rail outside handy to hang costumes or to wash tops etc. The room inside was white with blue pictures and concrete bungalows painted in various pastel colours( very pretty). It was run by a lovely lady Mai and her friendly staff. The location was two mins off the pier, 2 mins to walking street ( with lots of restaurants) and a ten minute tuk til ride away to Charlie beach( 50 bhatt per person). We hired a motor bike for 200 bhatt a day from Mai so we could explore the small island. .We stayed in 4 star resorts on other islands and came to the conclusion that this property was extremely great value. If we returned to mook id ditch the expensive resorts and stay here.Extremely clean, new, great base …all one can ask for

Nice budget friendly room with basic accommodations. Although close to the pier and merchant shops, it’s not close to a nice relaxing beach. For that you’ll need to take a :10 min taxi ride to Charlie Beach ( 50 thb per person) which was doable. Friendly staff on property that brings fresh fruit to your room each afternoon and makes up your room on time. No pool, weight room, or massage offerings, you’ll need to go to the other resort down the road for those services ( Savalai). One word about Ko Mook island (and not a reflection of moo king lay), there is trash everywhere ( including the beaches and near the pier), not sure why the locals allow it to get this bad. It took away from the beauty of this island. Overall, a nice budget friendly, no frills, property.

Lovely place in Koh Mook! Very nice and clean, and friendly owners. Perfect location if you want to stay in the village - everything within walking distance and only 5 min walk from the main pier. Very peaceful and quiet even so. We prefered staying in the village beeing close to restaurants and shops in the evenings, and did not mind taking taxi or scooter to Charlies beach. This is by far the nicest beach on the Island, so we went there everyday. We did not bother going to the Sivalai beach, even it is within 5 min walk from Mook Ing Lay. We liked the spacious «villa room» on the Second floor. The smaller bungalows where also very nice. Nice and clean bathrooms, large frigde and very well kept outdoor area.

Located only metres from the pier. I had booked and paid for a delux bungalow in advance. On arrival, I was advised by phone that therewas an aircon problem with my room so I was placed in a standard bungalow and given 1000 baht refund. Tip: if you are traveling during the pandemic make your room booking online 2-3 days prior as you will get a cheaper rate. My standard room was basic but spacious. Aircon was quiet and worked well. The TV must have had around 100 channels all in Thai or Malay except one which was a French station in English. Good lighting. Good size bathroom with separate shower area. Water heater worked okay with good water pressure. The air holes in the concrete were covered with insect mesh which is needed as there are mozzies aplenty. The lady gave me insect spray to use which was a kind gesture. If you can't afford Sivilai then this would be next best for location and comfort. If you need a longtail boat/tour contact Mr Jes (PK Team Tour) from the nearby minimart. He organised my private transfer to Koh Libong.

VIDEO room walkthrough is now uploaded to YouTube- search ‘Amelia Bolger’ for my channel I would rate this hotel 3.5 out of 5 (TA doesn’t allow this option) + The resort is in a great location for the pier + Room was clean and a good size + Excellent Air Con + Nice gardens - Booked for 2 nights, on arrival we were told they were overbooked. The owner arranged an alternative room elsewhere on the island for us. It seemed they prioritised a large group booking over our reservation which we had made months in advance. In the end it was handled well but only after we stuck to our guns about a refund for the inconvenience. We moved back over to Mook Ing Lay for our second night - Bathroom ceiling was unfinished and needed painting - The shower head holder wasn’t good enough to hold the shower head in place when the water was on. Kept falling off and hitting us on the head mid shower. - It felt disappointing compared to all the glowing reviews, we didn’t see any staff after we’d checked in. There were some obvious maintenance issues that need sorting out to bring it up to the standard that would be expected for the price. Ok, but probably wouldn’t stay there again

We were delighted with our stay at Ing Lay. Everything was spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and always greeted us with a smile. Perfect location, close to the pier and to the village, but set in a tranquil, beautiful, flowery garden. When we returned to Ing Lay every afternoon we were always presented with a serving of fresh fruit. A super place that we would like to keep to ourselves.

Very clean and comfortable. Light bright and airy. Never saw the owners after check in, although room was always cleaned and restocked, so a bit souless, but that may suit some. Very convenient for pier and restaurants but quiet (apart from occasional dogs) - a beautiful, peaceful, flowerfilled garden.

This place had the rare feature of having no gaps in between the doors and windows for lizards and bugs to get through - I felt safe from creatures! There is a resident white dog who hangs out in the yard often, she is seriously sweet and a bit too skinny, so we bought her dog food for 30 baht and fed her daily - if you see her around, give the dog some love and some food <3 She is kind with good manners, even during a feeding when clearly, meals are scarce for her. Staff was lovely and kind - they dropped by with a big smile and fresh fruit daily, which was a beautiful touch! The grounds are absolutely lovely, with a white picket fence and a stunning garden. The rooms were situated in a really thoughtful layout on the grounds and it didn't seem crowded, even though the cluster of rooms we stayed in were part of the 4 that are attached to each other. There were no issues with neighbor noise despite sharing walls in the basic rooms - perhaps because we had quiet neighbors. The bed was hard and could use a pillow top mattress - it's hard enough that if one were to stay longer than 3 nights, you may have a HARD time :D Only one true complaint: despite being relieved over how pristine the main room floors were, the bathroom floor looked downright dirty on arrival. Upon further inspection, some of the 'dirt' was actually permanent unsightly spots and the floor felt gritty the whole time. However, compared to other bathrooms in Thailand, I can live with the gritty floor. It didn't smell and had good venting without having a window wide open for creatures to enter. We arrived early due to the boat schedule and had the easiest / quickest check in process of any hotel. Within quick walking distance to the beach and the main road, we had a great discounted rate compared to the pricier options on the island. I would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional friendly island backed up by the hospitality of the lady owner & staff. Mook Ing Lay is a short walk from the pier, so no need for a taxi but I was given a free ride by a shop owner at the end of the pier. Little things like sharing fresh fruit which the owner or staff brought to my room every day when I returned. I had a small bungalow which was perfect for my needs. Always greeted with a smile - the legendary Thai smile & hospitality. Stay as guests but you leave these people as friends. I found Trang to be pretty much unspoilt by the tourist industry & good value for money. So you pay Thai prices.

The accommodation has a great location in the main village of the island and just a few yards from the pier where the ferry arrives (it’s actually the first accommodation you come to). All amenities are within easy walking distance and if you want to head over to Haad Farang (Charlie Beach) it’s a 30 minute walk or 50 baht per person by motorcycle taxi. We had a standard room which was chalet style in a block of 4. There are also a pair of semi-detached bungalows and a couple of houses on stilts, all set in attractive gardens. Our room was a decent size, clean and tidy with a comfortable double bed, fridge, TV and A/C - functional rather than luxurious. Good shower with plenty of hot water. The hosts spoke little English but were extremely friendly and we received complimentary fresh fruit every day. The whole area was very quiet at night and we slept extremely well for our 3 night stay.
