This is a nice stopover if you want to spend a few days hiking or visiting the area.

The views are great and the hosts are very friendly. Communication was difficult at times with only one staff speaking fluent English, but we managed with a bit of French too.

The food is very tasty and traditional homemade dishes.

Only criticism would be some mould in the bathroom and at times there was a lingering smell coming from the pipes.

Nice place, beautiful surroundings, friendly and kind people. Excellent traditional food and drinks. No TV so guests take the opportunity to go hiking, to spend time outdoors and to take advantage of the extraordinary fresh air. Wonderful place for kids who can play outside or in the game room. No canned drinks, only home made syrup and tea made from local herbs gathered by local people. A wonderful place to come back to!

The location of the cottage is excellent, the surrounding landscapes, amazing!
We went there in the summer and there are plenty of activities you can do: walks, hikes, mountainbiking ...
The cleanliness is impeccable, the traditional food is and excellent, and the staff is always at our disposal. I highly recommend Cabana Moţilor!

Excellent place to go skiing for a long week-end, far from the city and technology (there is Wi-Fi but no tv in the room - best thing ever). What is most impressive is the family feeling and the cosines of the place, this is all because of the owners that are very present and helpful, making sure that your stay is perfect . The food is soo great, traditional food with almost everything done there, by the owners and their staff. The kids loved it as well, every aspect of it. We will return soon I guess, maybe we'll try it in the summer as well.

We've visited this nice chalet for the 1'st of December weekend. Access to the chalet is very easy, about 50 minutes of Cluj. I have no words to describe the joy and satisfaction that we had in those four days. “Cabana Motilor” is very cozy, tastefully decorated and very welcoming, we had a double room which had everything needed to have a nice stay. The only thing that we dindn't like was that the double bed was quite small for 2 persons.
In terms of landscape - very soothing, very pleasant, the places we visited in the area will definitely awake our memories in the future. The chalet is situated on a small hill, so you can enjoy better surroundings. Downstairs, there is a dining room, tastefully decorated, very welcoming, and a living room, where ultimate generation audio-visual equipment can be found and a place where you can have social activities, like resting or to playing games- Monopoly, Risk, etc.. All equipment (windows, heaters, lights, doors, tables, etc.) are absolutely above average quality, ensuring comfort throughout your stay. The food- here is where “Cabana Motilor” approaches to perfection. I would say in a word- simply wonderful. Breakfast is very rich; I enjoyed the jam pies” motesti” style, a form of pancake-omelet with cheese, a kind of pizza, and various dishes with meat, accompanied by strawberry or raspberry syrup. Lunch or evening meals were a real challenge-besides palinca, visinata, afinata (Romanian products), I could enjoy the tripe soup (probably the best I have ever eaten), roast deer, wild boar, quail, goulash- all tasty and plentiful.
The chalet’s staff is extremely polite and friendly, and the host, Mr.Sebastian, manages to satisfy the highest demands of customers in general and ours in particular. We received information about routes that can be done in the area; we received proposals for various activities in the area, suggestions about local cuisine etc. Finally, we have bought homemade products such as jam, syrup, spirits, etc-all wonderful, that we tasted during our stay.
I recommend this superb place in a very enthusiastic way, for a romantic getaway or for a team-building or for a gathering with friends, you will certainly not regret it. Booking is very easy, there is the possibility of paying with credit card on the spot.
Although distance from Bucharest is high (about 6 h drive) it is definitely an excellent choice that deserves your attention;
I will try to return there as soon as possible.

My wife and I stayed here in October 2012. We found a great offer for b&b for such a low rate that it would have been a pity not to take advantage of it. So we left Bucharest not knowing where we were going nor what to expect. And whom we would meet. And when we got there, we were greeted by the owner, Sebastian. A wonderful and warm man who gave us the best room in the house (his and his wife's room) as the pension was fully booked. Which from the start gave us an idea of how seeked this place is. The place gave us the feeling we were home and not in a distant unfamiliar place, therefore we enjoyed the most of it. The food was amazing, especially since it was entirely homemade. The syrups were unimaginably delicious, and also beautifully presented, therefore they became the main presents which we presented ourselves home to our families.
As there were no tv's in the rooms, we've spent the whole week relaxing, visiting the surroundings and enjoying nature at it's most.
Back then, their Saint Bernard, by the name of Sara, had puppies, and was the bundle of joy to play with... and their little kitten (Goguta) was our main attraction to play with in the mornings when we were enjoying our coffee with a view.
I would definitely recommend this "out-of-the-world" place for anyone who wishes to escape the fast-paced daily life.
Once again, huge thanks to Sebastian and his wife and as well as to all the staff, for giving us the most wonderful memories and one of the best vacations ever in Romania.
Catalin & Ingrid

Last week end I was to guesthouse "Cabana Motilor", located at 1250 meteres altitude in Apuseni Mountains, village of Marisel ( Romania, province of Cluj ).

The location of this guesthouse is execelent, having an outstanding panorama to the valleys and to the mountains around this place.

Because this guesthouse was fully booked, we stay in a chalet located across the road of guesthouse (called "Cabana de peste drum"). This chalet was a nice surprise, because: it is made by wood timbers, it has 4 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, a dinning room an one kitchen and we stay very private (two couples ) in a generous yard.

All the meals have been taken in the restaurant of the guesthouse.

The food was very relishing, made by local products. One remark for improvment of the servces: the menu must be extended with more dishes.

Sebastian, the host, and the staff was very helpfull and friendly.

A PLUS: In this guesthouse you will find and can buy the homemade products as: syrups, jams and vegetable oils.

Acces: Only by car. The easiest road is from village of Gilau (near A3 Higway).

Dear friends!
I would like to inform you clearly of this location and to come to my belief that they have misleaded the notes that are exceedingly high and that I do not think they are on the merit of this place.

Location: The beautiful nature is found around this place because it is situated in close proximity to the Apuseni Nature Reserve and there are many huts and tourist shelters.

The cottage as a tourist object: It is nothing special but on the contrary it struck me that it is not a chalet with its really old interior, it is an imitation of an old shelter and this imitation is made of bad taste!

Accommodation: Excessively large prices that do not deserve this money, uncomfortable rooms very awkward beds, can not cost 50 euros a night in such living conditions, you have no respect for the tourist who travels so far to reach you!  Prices do not deserve this accommodation!

Restaurant: Here I totally disappointed what I tasted and saw!  Syrup drink: syrup is a homogeneous substance extracted from certain products that intensifies the natural taste extracted!  They bring the water with the sweetness but not the syrup!  If it is called Syrup in the menu should be SIROP correctly not the water with the sweetness.  Mushroom soup: the soup is prepared from mushrooms in vinegar to jar!  There are plenty of possibilities to make a natural soup!  This soup can not cost 20 lei !  It's a simple marketing based on beautiful labels!

Payment: I received no tax receipt!
