The Indaba Hotel stands out for its serene African theme and an array of praised amenities such as the popular Jazz Sunday brunch and the on-site spa. While the rooms are often appreciated for their spaciousness and cleanliness, there are remarks about noise and a need for updated decor. The value proposition receives mixed feedback, with some guests commending the cost-effective dining options, yet others pointing out issues like thin walls. Service is generally applauded for being attentive, although occasional slow restaurant service and Wi-Fi connectivity problems have been noted.

Following an overnight UK flight and a morning of travelling and sightseeing, the Indaba was ideally situated for an overnight stop before travelling onto Kruger. We found the layout of the accommodation a little confusing and not well signposted, luckily there were enough staff around to ask directions. I came across one of the pools with limited loungers. The water appeared quite cloudy and uninviting, so I did not risk a swim. Our room was comfortable, quiet and backed onto a small attractive lake, with many nesting birds.

We “experienced” the Chief Boma dinner, which was pretty chaotic, both in the seating arrangements and the self service queues. There were insufficient cutlery at the tables and a hit and miss drinks service; although the lively band enhanced the atmosphere and put us in the holiday mood. Others in our party ate at the restaurant which by all accounts was excellent. After a comfortable sleep, we enjoyed a good breakfast menu, although the coffee service was slow, and we were not allowed to help ourselves. We stayed at the beginning of summer holidays, so the hotel was quite crowded with families and youth groups.

Fantastic rustic hotel with an Africa bushveld feel to it. Mowana Spa is a must try!! Great BRK with plenty of options. The refurbished rooms at the main building is decorated with style and an overall feel of luxury. Overall great value for money!

Stayed over for 1 night with my husband as a birthday spoil. Mowana spa was amazing but the stay over wasn't so amazing. We wanted to make some coffee only to find the kettle was dirty inside and and con webs, the cups were stained like they have never been washed before. Even though it was a room for 2 people. The room seemed prepared for one person as there was 1 bath towel, 1 spoon, 1 coffee and sugar. The room walls are so thin we could hear a couple next door having sex, dreadful.. and lastly the pills were so high it felt like I was sleeping in the sky. Terrible experience. Wouldn't suggest the place at all.

This is regarding the valentine's dinner at the Epsom restaurant at the Indaba as well as Indaba's miserable handling of the situation. I have tried to resolve this privately but to no avail.

Below is a summary of the dismal night:

"The starter hoisin chicken was dry and tasteless. When my mom asked for sauce the waitress brought tomato sauce and mayonnaise !? No salad dressings and she had to get the vinaigrette specially made in the kitchen. At least the salmon pancake starter was edible and actually rather pleasant.

The mains were awful in every aspect. The steak was overcooked and leathery, my mother refused to get another one when offered a replacement as it was just terrible to begin with. The kingklip main was dry, small portions and they forgot to bring the prawns with it ! When the waiter came back with the prawns it was a depressing sight. There were two paltry cold looking prawns that made my dad regret asking for them in the first place.

The desserts were presented wonderfully but the cheesecake had a heavy gelatinous flavour and the tart was just meh. They also brought the cheese plate out at the same time as the dessert which does not make sense to me. Surely it should come separately at the end. It made the dessert feel rushed. The crackers also felt stale and were crumbling while spreading the cheese."

The rooms that comes standard with the night spa package needs some attention as the carpets causes an overwhelming stench. The twin rooms were much better although only an underlining smell present which i believe is due to the room being carpeted only half way. the tiles creates a much more clean and hygenic feel.

Perfectly positioned on the outskirts of Johannesburg this hotel is well suited as an overnight stay after a late flight in or early flight out. Built in blocks over a large area it can confusing walking around and you will need the map they give you. It's also worth having a torch and waterproof with you when you go to the main building to eat. Can't fault the food we had but we were only there for one night with a coach party

It was the worst customer and dining experience I have ever had at any hotel restaurant or any restaurant for that matter. The food was tasteless and bland with many of my colleagues not even finishing their food. They never had half the food that was on the menu despite us booking weeks in advance based on the menu. you can see by the half written menu that was the only things we could order. We were told this after sitting down for 40 minutes and were ready to order from the main menu.
The staff were rude and took us nearly an hour and a half to get our starters. the waitress was arguing with my colleagues husband over his order and telling another guest that the bread crumbed hallumi is gluten free??
We will never be going anywhere near that hotel again.

The most delicious food can be enjoyed in all of the restaurants on the property. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the tranquility of the gardens and bird life makes you feel as if you are out in the countryside. The staff are so friendly. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay indeed.

I made a booking with Indaba hit l and arrive at the establishment at 12:30. The receptionist indicated to me that they don’t have rooms available at the time and their checking in time is 14:00. Granted. He went on to say that I can come back at 14:00 they should be ready for me. Fair enough. I then asked to do the paperwork and make a payment so that at 14:00 I can just get the keys which we did. I went on to at a the lounge area. I was even dosing off there as I had been travelling the previous 2 days. Just after 14:00 I went to check in only to be told the room isn’t ready still.
After a while I again went back to check if I could check in but still the room oom was said not to be ready. I then asked if I can cancel the booking as well as get the manager to speak to the manager to register my dissatisfaction on how things panned out. The receptionist gave me the GM business card and also agreed to cancel my booking. When I was on the phone with the GM the room was said to be ready and a key was handed to me. The GM’s initial response to my query was that it isn’t much over 14:00. Shocking! I had been sitting there since 12:30 waiting for the promised 14:00 and that is the response they could give me. Eventually when I got to the room it really smelled horrible!! Not fresh at all. I don’t know if the previous guest smoked in the room or not but it was horrible. When I checked in the bathroom I realised that there were no towels as well and that when I went to the reception and cancelled my booking and left for an alternative hotel. Engage the client to assist and to read me the rules book and of course within your policies.

Our Chiefs Boma is an informal dining restaurant and knee length shorts are more than acceptable. Epsom Bistro is a little more formal and long pants with collared shirts are required
