My wife and I stayed at The Sandman in Castlegar,we had a excellent room and slept really well, the breakfast was very good . However I found it unsettling that in B.C., the fruit center of Canada that the Fruit cups served for Breakfast came from China. Can they not find an adequate supply of fruit in B.C. and make arrangements with a local supplier and support business in Canada, especially when China is blocking Canadian goods from being sold in China

Thank you Companion555781 I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay and I appreciate you letting us know about the fruit cup. I will be talking to our supplier to see if there is a local choice for the these. We are a canadian owned and operated company and we always want to support local and Canadian businesses. Thank you for staying with us here in Castlegar and we look forward to you staying with us again in the future

Friendly clean place and very helpful. The only issue is the wait on the reservation line which is a central problem. All staff were friendly and accommodating with any query. Rooms were quiet and clean and coffee was always on in the lobby.

THis was a horrible hotel expericence. I have stayed at may hotels over the last few months. The hotel lobby is dark and not very well presented, however it was not dirty. The prices for this hotel should be under $100 a night, not closer to $200. The hotel has an elevator which is not the nicest to access. If you have mobility issues you would have to walk out of the main lobby the access through the side entracne and got to the back of the hotel to where the elevator is.Fair distance if you are limited in mobility. Room was tidy, and decor is very outdated and room was very warm. I turned the airconditioner down and went for dinner. The AC was not working and operated like a fan for the room. My room faced the indoor pool on the inside of the hotel. I went to the fromt desk and let them know that my AC was not working. The person at the counter indicated they would send Maintenance. Not a very comfortable night sleep at all. Wnet out for my day and again first thing in the AM i mentioned the airconditioner was not operating and needed to be fixed. The new person at the counter wrote it down and said they would send maintenance right away. I had return many hours later to notice that maintenance had not been there and neither did housekeeping. I wentr back down to the lobby and informed the attendant at the front desk about the AC with maintenance not arriving and that housekeeping did not come and I woulld like fresh towels and toiletries. I returned from dinner a couple hours later to nothing and idicated that no one came to take care of my issues. Stillo nothing... I will never waste my time and money with this place and advise you the same. Sleep is not that comfortable, staff is useless and hotel is over priced. Do not waste your time and money. Stay else where.

Thank you jbrown18 for your comments. I truly do apologize that you had issues with your a/c in the room and that our staff did not follow through on getting your a/c unit fixed or replaced this is not our normal standard of service. I will have all the a/c's on rooms facing the pool checked to ensure they are working properly. Again I do apologize for the inaction of the staff on not addressing these issues in a timely manner. We are expecting to have a major renovation in the near future to update the hotel. We hope you do decide to give us another try when you are in the Castlegar area.

The rooms are not cleaned properly. The air conditioning doesn’t work. People were sitting outside in the parking lot to cool off. The pool and hot tub are green. The front desk staff are nice. I would recommend telling them each morning that you want your room cleaned otherwise it may not happen. This hotel is in desperate need of renovations. The bath tub and sink are disgusting and in need of repair. The furniture is dated and old. I won’t be staying here again!

Had an overnight stay here again for about the 3rd time now. I like it, it’s quiet and Staff are friendly. Only negative is they don’t have any Fox News channel! Just that crummy CNN. I would go somewhere else if they had Fox news!
