We spent 4 wonderful days at the Mount 7 Red Fox Lodge using it as a base for enjoying the sights of the area. Jo and Dave are terrific hosts. They live on the property where they have been renting several lodges for many years. The location is ideal because it offers a stellar view of the mountains at sunrise and yet is close to Golden restaurants and area sights.
Red Fox is quite new (2022) and has been thoughtfully designed and decorated. It has huge windows showcasing the mountains, a complete kitchen and a unique air circulating system that keeps the house sustainably cool.
We highly recommend.

We went to mount 7 as a family of 6 to spend christmas from December 23 to 28, 2022 in the bear lodge. Before our arrival we received a welcome email from Jo and Dave to let us know they were excited for our visit and that a xmas tree was up and decorated and ligths outside.
The cabin was equipped with everything, for cooking, lots of pots, pans, baking sheets, hand mixer, utensils, knives, cutting boards, measuing cups, glasses and plates! It had everything just like home,no need to pack anything kitchen related, just bring the food and drinks. We cooked a whole Christmas Dinner during our visit!
The washer and dryer was great after skiing and exploring and building a snowman outside, putting our damp/wet clothes into dry for our next adventure. My favorite part was relaxing in the hot tub located on the deck after a long day on the slopes.
The cabins are nicely spaced apart to provide privacy, the whole property is so spectacular with the horses in the lower feild where we walked down to every morning to see and was greeted by their dog Loxley that really enjoyed playing and running in the snow with our boys.
They kept the roadway clear of snow everytime it snowed (it snowed everyday we were there) and made getting to our cabin easy in a small car.
The switchback up to the cabins can be alittle tricky in the winter in a smaller vehicle, we purchased some tire chains at the local auto store in town that is only 10 mins away. They helped anyone that got stuck on them up the hill that wasnt plowed by the county.
I highly recommend staying at Mount 7 in any of these lovely cabins, it really made our Christmas winter getaway very special and would love to come again. The ski hill is only 25 mins and any amenities needed are in the town of golden only 10 mins away. Its perfectly tucked away on the mountain side, in a very quite spot!

I have been coming to Mount 7 Lodges with friends for over 11 years and over that time I have stayed in all of the lodges located on this beautiful property. The property is owned by a lovely couple who have built the lodges over the years. The cabins are perfectly located just a few mins drive from the townsite of Golden, BC. Close to everything yet completely secluded and private. Each cabin is in its own private nook with lovely horses, puppies and beautiful mountain views in the front and a whole mountain complete with hiking trails right in the back (see pics). Each cabin is fully stocked with all amenities, my favorite of which is the private hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains.
For the last two years, we have rented the Red Fox Lodge, Mount 7’s newest and most modern lodge, over new years. The Red Fox Lodge is perfect for two couples. Each room has an extremely comfortable king sized bed and a private bathroom. One bathroom has a soaker tub and the other a rain shower, both with heated floors. The Red Fox Lodge has all of the kitchen tools we needed to cook amazing meals while we were there (see pics) and the owners even put up charming Christmas lights and tree for us to enjoy. There is a firepit on the side of the lodge and the owners leave the firewood well stocked so you don’t have to keep asking for more. The weather in Golden is perfect for all outdoor activities including fires, skiing, hiking and hot tubbing. We spent a lot of time over new years just enjoying the cabin, hiking out back, having fires and saying hello to the puppies and horses on site. There are plenty of towels and fluffy robes to keep you warm as you go into the hot tub to watch the sun set over the beautiful mountain ridge. I highly recommend this property (especially the Red Fox Lodge) for all seasons and I plan to return for many years to come.

Red Fox Lodge is truly an amazing place to spend some time. It’s very peaceful and private. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the design and layout. The fixtures, fittings and extra little touches make this a cut-above the competition. Relaxing in the hot tub, taking in the view, and then firing up the bbq is a lovely way to spend an evening.
Our only regrets are that we didn’t manage to try the private trail from the back on the lodge as the mosquitoes in this area are brutal and some of the family react badly. Also, we would have liked to stay for five days instead of three. Golden is a great base to explore the wider area and a little more driving would have been worth it as Mount 7 is far superior to our experience in other accommodation in Golden, Lake Louise and Canmore.

Hi Mark, Thank you so much for your lovely, well written review. We did put a lot of time and thought into the Red Fox Lodge design and enjoyed designing and building this new lodge in 2022, our first building since 2010. So thank you for noticing. The mosquitos were brutal while you were here and although we always have mosquitos in the summer, usually they come at dusk and not in swarms in the middle of the day! This location is often used as a base location for the Parks, Lake Louise, Yoho, Glacier over to Revelstoke and south to Kootenay National Park and we do a stay for 7 nights, pay for 6 offer. Thanks again for staying with us and all the best.

We stayed in the Bear lodge this August for a few days whilst travelling around British Columbia.
The lodge itself is fantastic and contains everything you could need for a short or long stay. There’s plenty of space to stay as well with three large bedrooms and a sofa bed downstairs. We had two of the bedrooms set up as twin rooms (two single beds) which allowed the kids (3 of them) to choose where they slept. We had a queen bed in our room which was lovely and comfortable.
The surrounding area is also beautiful, Golden is a lovely place to visit and during our time we did horse back-riding, visited a buffalo ranch, a wolf sanctuary and the Skybridge - all fantastic experiences.
The evenings were then spent relaxing on the balcony with the kids spending time in the hot tub!
Jo, the host, was very friendly as well and in the lodge there was loads of information on local places for food, etc.
If we’re ever in the area we’d definitely stay again.

The Red Fox Lodge was a wonderful place to meet our friends from Alberta. Halfway for both. The one level lodge was perfect for my husband with a few mobility issues as well as the rest of us. We so enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub and just sitting on the deck enjoying the incredible views. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to fix our own meals. We already have plans to meet there again next year

Have stayed at a lot of cabins but this has to be our new favourite as it has everything and more than you would expect from a cabin. Fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful bbq on the deck, no sharing like most cabins. Private hot tub on the deck was an absolute delight. Owners are respectful of your privacy but also easy to reach if needed, they clearly spent a lot of time and effort in setting up the cabins with all the small details, going above and beyond the basics. As an added bonus they are pet friendly allowing us to brings our with us.

My wife, 6 adult children, one grandchild and two dogs had an early Christmas and it couldn't have been any more postcard like! We rented the Eagle and Bear Lodges. Jo and Dave were extremely accommodating in every respect possible. The facilities were spotless, all kitchen utensils, pots & pans were supplied, the bedding and beds were cozy and comfortable, the bathrooms were all spotless and modern, I could go on and on with the accolades. They even supplied and decorated a Christmas tree for us in the Eagle cabin. They were willing to set up another in the Bear cabin but we were concerned the dogs tails may create havoc with the tree so we gratefully declined their kind offer. We will most definitely be back but likely in the summer so we may experience the beauty at that time of year as well. Since the ratings only go to 5, our family rates Mount 7 Lodges as a 7.

The lodge is as advertised. It is clean and spacious and has everything you need. Note the wifi isn't the fastest at night (being on a mountain you won't get great coverage on you LTE either) This isn't a knock on the lodge, but download all your content before you come as streaming isn't an option at night.
You can't beat the view from the hot tub, and the hill in the back is great for sledding.
OH did I mention horses? You can feed them carrots and apples and do they know it.

Thanks so much for your great review. That is a great tip on streaming in advance and we should add it to our information on the lodges. We have 2 internet providers here at Mount 7 Lodges, so if one is down the other one is working and we can switch guests over one to the other. We can reliably get Netflix and do Zoom calls and Skype. One of our internet providers works off the Telus tower and that had maintenance on it recently and it was slow after that until we restarted everything. Snowfall can affect the quality of the internet too. Either way it's not as fast as the city so streaming in advance is still a great tip, thank you. That hill is great for sledding and a lot of people have had a lot of fun on it. The horses say thanks for the treats! Happy New Year to you all.

Looking for that perfect getaway in the time of COVID? It’s hard to travel these days but if you’re willing to put up with mask-wearing and be a decent citizen, this place has everything you need for a private, isolated mind-relaxing trip.
You’ll need a car to get around but you’ve got access to two National Parks in the Rockies and another in the Selkirk Mountains. Hiking trails abound and Golden has got all the basic necessities covered, including some whopping good coffee at the Bluebird Cafe. If you really want to get away from it all, helicopter in to a remote resort for week and still use Golden as a base.
Mount 7 Lodges are run by good people, who provide quality accommodation (we had a hot tub and in the cold and snow of this particular October, was a Godsend), comfort and privacy.
This was an ideal spot to hunker down and forget there was a pandemic raging across the world.

Hi Rhonda
No you have to trailer to one of the many trailheads in the area, the closest is Mount 7 which is 5 minutes away and then popular areas such as Quartz, Gorman and Silent Pass about 30 minutes.
Kind Regards
Jo
