My Husband and I checked in to Evergreen B&B on July 9th 2019. As we hadn’t booked it through booking.com or Expedia we negotiated a price which was similar to the price of booking.com. My husband paid and when Christian took us and showed the room it was double room , 2 double beds-in it. He said we can only use one of the beds, which I was very surprised as we have been traveling and had been staying in hotels and b&b with double beds previously. We had always had one each to sleep in. The double bed was too small for 2 of us and I didn’t have a good night sleep. Christian had charged us for the room with 2 beds in it asking us to use just one , wasn’t very hospitable of him as he could see my husband is very tall and we have a super king size bed at home!! As my husband had already paid for the room, I didn’t say anything and was also worried to use the second bed just in case he may charge us double as he had taken our card details!

Thank you for your review Farrah, it’s good that people like yourself are out there making sure that ones that may potentially spend their income with us will be prevented from doing so by speaking about what most disturbed you about our interactions. Not the conversations at breakfast, details of the rooms or I inhospitably carried your suitcases to and from the car park, but how I “negotiated “ a price. When certain “posh” people arrive from your country, I’m always reminded of a video of a Nepalese older woman that has been enraged to such a degree by a UK customer at her tiny tea hut she chases her down the footpath throwing rocks at her after the UK woman had attempted to negotiate her Tea price. Now though I can’t hurl rocks at you for wasting my time having what I thought was a pleasant conversation in the morning after everyone had left breakfast because you decided to show up 20 minutes late for the set breakfast time, I can still reply to your poor scoring of our property that will effect our ability to stay open and offer a luxury service though we ourselves can’t afford to do so. Your husband asked if this my day job and I replied yes, I’m here everyday early morning to afternoon before I go to my second job 6 days week. When you arrived on our doorstep that early evening, you asked our prices and then before I even showed you the room were negotiating as your budget was for however much. You asked if it was cheaper than third party booking sites which I explained you were saving at least $20. At this point I knew the type of person I was interacting with so calmly explained the price again, for one Bed as I knew you were going to Be “those customers” that have zero disregard for how you are perceived once you have checked out. The class system at play and because I, living in this tiny mountain community must be below your sitting on social totem pole, it’s completely fine for you to offer less but use every dollar spent buy using every single item in the room to its full potential and place them... everywhere. I knew I wasn’t dealing with the younger or actually posh country mates of yours, I was dealing with Mr and Mrs MORE. That always make more fuss, use more things, take more of my time and require far more of my stretched patience and energy output. Therefore in “negotiations “ I explained it was my one room left for the evening and the month. This was one of the 5 months of the year we might retain a profit so our prices would be agreed to and that was for one Queen (not double) bed for two persons. A hope on my part to decrease the amount of work I was going to have to do the next day and for the planet, maybe decrease the amount of energy we’d have to use by trying to do less laundry then all the other days when we might have some of those older American or Older English persons that can’t fathom that using two beds might actually be part of the climate problem and not the solution. Think about it. I’m sorry you had a poor sleep, I’m sure it had nothing to do with your jet lag and decision to gorge on McDonalds in the late evening hours. It’s entirely our fault and righteously so we are now and for the future, be paying for it. Apologies to you and yours for not living up to your standard. You keep kicking us down there. We feel it and though our little efforts to create and intimate experience in a beautiful setting might not have rubbed off on you, we’ll try to keep going and literally squeezing out a financial ability to keep a roof over our heads and food in my small family’s mouths. Just like that Nepalese tea maker we’ll get by.

Had a nice stay here. Patio off our room for cocktails was lovely. Breakfast was excellent. Quiet night. Served at 8:30, and all guests were served together. Fun table- we are from Texas. The other couples were from Italy & Netherlands; and BC and Sweden who lived in Berlin.

We stopped here for one night on our way to Vancouver. This is a really lovely guest house and excellent value for money. The rooms are very comfortable and the decor and attention to detail is wonderful. The breakfast is simple but substantial and Christian, the host, is a fun guy with a real angle on people. We appreciated his help with the baggage and it was great to meet his lovely little boy.

My husband and I arrived at Evergreen B & B just after the number plates had been stolen from our hire car. To make it worse our phone wouldn't work and I was unwell. Not a good start when staying in an unknown town. The host made us welcome, he tried ringing Avis to help us out with the car and was on hold for a long while, He gave us correct information so we could decide the best way out of our predicament. He also asked if we needed anything to make me more comfortable. He could not have done anymore to help. We found the decor here elegant and stylish. Our room was furnished beautifully, it was comfortable and spotless. Our breakfast was cooked fresh and served hot. If we lived closer we would certainly stop here again.

Thank you very much, it was a pleasure to help. I don’t think the way I acted was doing anything above and beyond that which most People would do to help people in need, you just happen to be my guests. Anytime you are around here, would love to have you again. Hope you have kicked that bug and nice and are and nestled back home again.

We stayed as a family (5 people) and loved it. Rooms were beautiful, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious. So many personal touches throughout the property and service. The owner/host clearly loves what he does and it shows in how he treats his guests. Hopefully we will get a chance to stay at Evergreen B&B again soon.
