We had a truly awful experience at Canyon Hot Springs this past August 2019. There were 7 of us in one family, 4 adults and 3 kids, travelling in 1 trailer with a truck and a van. We had been camping throughout Alberta and BC for 2 weeks and had had nothing but great experiences - until we arrived at Canyon Hot Springs. The employee at the front desk said that she could fit us in... but it would be tight... and it would cost more. But there were extra charges for everything! Only 2 people per campsite ($39 with no power or water) and an additional $15 for 5 more people. And they wouldn't allow us to park both vehicles in one campsite, so we would have to leave one up in the parking lot and pay extra for that. The employee (who seemed irritated to have to be talking to customers) told us to walk down to the campsite and come back to tell her if we wanted it. So we did... but when we got back and told her we would take it - she said she wouldn't give us the campsite, we would have to pay for two. And they didn't have two side by side, so we'd have to pay for one we wouldn't even see. So bizarre! Needless to say, her story kept changing, and the cost kept going up, and we were treated in a very disrespectful way. So we left and drove another 45min down the road to Crazy Creek Resort where we paid $35 for a campsite WITH power and water and there were NO extra charges for anything. The staff at Crazy Creek were delightful. And their hot pools were much nicer than the ones at Canyon! So please, do yourself a favour and do not waste your time and money at Canyon Hot Springs.

If you are planning on going here do yourself a favour and go somewhere else...anywhere else in Revelstoke! Very pricey for what they (don’t) offer. They have a pool and a mineral spring but charge for it’s use. They try to make even more money by saying they will fine you for every conceivable/perceived offence. There is even a $100 fine for moving a picnic table! If all that isn’t enough, the sites are directly beside a railroad track. The trains go all night with at least two per hour. The track is on a curve and the cars screech going around it. Unbelievable noise.

Campsites are OK and washrooms are well kept and clean. HOWEVER: the train track is right beside the campground and the trains run all night! With screeching brakes and squeaking wheels. Horrible! Worst night ever - and we've slept alongside highways before. Nobody even hinted at the noise before we registered.

We stayed at the Ramada In the centre of town. Everyone should realize that Revelstoke is a small narrow town in a valley in the Rockies, so the rail line that goes through it is near everything, so that's a moot point. That being said, the Ramada is a new build with excellent concrete construction, and vastly reduces noise. Canyon hot springs is NOT. I cannot speak to the camping, but we were mountain biking the whole area and the Hot Springs in these pools was excellent. The grounds are clean and cut, and the pools are about as good as they're going to get considering all the minerals that will eat away at anything over time. The little pool is 40C, and the big pool is 32C. A really nice change up for when the hot pool gets too much. In all honesty the whole building should be demolished and rebuilt, it really shows it's age, but for $12-14 to drop in and sit as long as you want before going out to town at night, it's perfect. People that don't understand what a hot spring is are giving misleading info. I didn't inquire as to the source, but all hot springs are is geothermically heated natural waters. It doesn't matter if the water comes from the glacial Columbia River and then heated, or from heated groundwater that contributes to the river. It's the basically the same, and you can really feel the minerals and extra buoyancy, and feels great on your joints. Alternate places like Nakusp and Halcyon are a 2h drive south and a ferry ride across Arrow Lake, which can be absolutely packed on weekends and add to the commute. These true hot springs have no/little facilities, require bear awareness and bug spray sometimes, and some are a true hike into the woods. The advantages of this place are: Concrete pool to sit in Much reduced sulfurous odor Option of cooler pool as well It's close proximity to Revy (<20 mins). Amenities nearby, including a corner store/restaurant inside. Disadvantages: No natural vibe Facilities are run down (albeit they HAVE some) I'd do it again, but it's not mind blowing. If you want the real experience and BYOB then budget the afternoon/evening to drive to Nakusp. If you want a decent soak, here you are.

The place is very run down and needs serious updating. The pools and public facilities are old and filthy. The sites don’t have fire pits and the train nearby is extremely noisy and constant all day and night. Camping is 45 per night for two people and extra for additional person and does not include access to the pools
