Detailed Reviews
During our week at Skeena Spey, my wife and I both caught and released fish, although the hot, sunny weather made the fishing difficult. We mostly did guided fishing on the Skeena, a very famous wide but comparatively shallow river, but we also spent a guided day on the Kitimat, a smaller river with some deep runs. Both were exceptionally beautiful. Since the weather was sunny and very hot, the fish were not especially bitey; we'd have hoped for more overcast weather, but that was out of the control of the lodge owner.
Altogether, we had a most enjoyable week. Skeena Spey accepts guests for any number of days/nights, unlike many lodges that only book for blocks of a week. The cabins are individual A-frames, with private bathroom in each and ceiling fans. There is heat for cold weather. The lodge is looking into installing air conditioners for hot weather, but the ceiling fans helped the cabin to cool off nicely at night and we found the cabin very comfortable. The lodge itself is extremely beautiful and rustic, with a cozy dining room/bar at which guests ran tabs, and a capacious sitting room with comfortable furniture, a beautiful pool table and a fly tying desk. A tackle shop well stocked with quality fishing equipment, clothing and fly tying materials was open upon request.
The two highly experienced guides with whom we fished, Adrienne and Mike, were very simply superb guides and absolutely lovely people. At our request, they each brought a dog on the river with them, which made the experience even more fun. They were energetic, helpful, charming, fun, and real treats to chill with on the rivers. They both were among the best guides we have fished with and were proficient and not overbearing instructors.
We had not expected the quality of the meals. The food isn't just good, rather the meals were gourmet quality excellent. Dom and Seb, the chef and sous chef, Vinnie the bartender, Arièle the sommeliere, Mik the utility staff member, and Laurie the houskeeper were all very friendly and could not do enough to make us comfortable. Brian, the co-owner/operator of Skeena Spey, is a highly accomplished and well known casting instructor and fly rod designer. He took us out one morning to give us each a casting lesson, teaching us to make single spey, snake roll, and Perry Poke casts. His instruction was excellent.
Skeena Spey is a wonderful place, and we look forward to returning!

I really can’t say enough good things about my stay at Skeena Spey lodge but here goes!
I had contacted Brian late on in 2020 and with everything that had gone before (covid) he was able to accommodate me no problem! I flew up from Vancouver and was met at the airport by Brian. The flexibility of the accommodation and angling options is unlike anywhere else and what made this a special trip. Along with that my flight home was cancelled and it was worked out on the spot and I even got a few extra hours fishing the next morning!
Combine that with the food, hospitality and guiding and you have a winning combination. Nobody wants to leave the riverbank when fishing the Skeena but when you’re met with rustic hearty food it softens the blow!
Last but not the least the guides! My first full day of fishing this watershed I caught my first steelhead, one I’ll not forget any time soon! After the fishing the sense of camaraderie at the lodge was brilliant.
Amazing lodge, food, fishing and most importantly knowledgeable, friendly people that not only want the best for their patrons but for river on which they reside

Every aspect of Skeena Spey Riverside Lodge is top notch service, friendly staff, knoledgable guides, great food, nice cabins, fishing is 100 ft walk to the jetboats.
The atmosphere is "we are all friends and family" betwen guests and staff.
They make you feel welcome and sets an at mood the makes a very enteraining evening at the guests shared dining tables. It just makes you relaxed. After seven hours of speycasting the food is the great reward. Just outstanding!

My parents, myself and my young son spent 4 nights at Skeena Spey this summer and it truly was a dream vacation. The lodge is located right on the river and the grounds held more than enough activities to keep my son happy during the non-fishing hours (whiffle golf and billiards were a big hit, as was the sauna and random river dips.) The staff, service and food were all exemplary. Friendly and engaging people are what make a destination most memorably. On the water, Skeena Spey guides were incredibly patient, spey casting can prove difficult to learn but both my parents and i received nothing but support and positivity from all the guides. The Skeena landscape is truly world-class and it's an incredibly special thing to get three generations of family out on the river fishing in one of the most beautiful spots in BC. The Skeena Spey experience suited us perfectly and i can't wait to return.

One of the best fishing operations on the planet. They exceeded my expectations in every aspect of my stay. The lodge atmosphere is quite comfortable and welcoming. The staff is family oriented, and you really do feel like home and part of the family during your stay. Excellent, instruction oriented guides operating boats of the highest quality make sure your time on the water is efficient, comfortable, and memorable. The fish are a bonus. Lodge staff and elite management team make sure your goals and expectations for your trip are satisfied.

Fantastic facility, staff and location. Can't appropriately express how amazing this place is. The guides took our family of four (with no previous spey experience) and had us fighting fish all day long!
Cabins were cozy, beautifully decorated and super comfortable. Food was a huge surprise and was absolutely delicious. Bar was super well stocked and bartender made fantastic drinks - great way to end a great day on the river.

This was my second trip to Skeena Spey. The accommodations are great with great common areas for hanging out and chatting and great privacy in individual A-frames. The food is great. The guides are great, and the scenery is outstanding. I want to go in 2023; please don't book before I get my slot nailed down.
Brian Niska is exceptionally helpful. My age is beginning to show a bit, and things got done without ever making me feel patronized.
Always get your Caesar with two shots; it's the only way to fly.

Skeena Spey was the perfect choice for my first experience with Pacific Northwest fishing. My guides taught me how to fish with a spey rod and they coached me expertly so that I was able to enjoy the experience to the fullest. I learned a lot and I now understand the attraction and the beauty of fishing great rivers like the Skeena. The fish are magnificent.
The lodge is superbly managed. The guides are superb. The cabins are superbly comfortable. The meals are superb and beautifully presented. It is clear that everyone on the staff enjoys being there. It is equally clear that they are personally dedicated to providing the best service. Everything about the place is professionally designed and executed.
My wife, who is not an angler, enjoyed the experience as much as I did. There are plenty of attractions in and near Terrace, BC, such as art museums and galleries. When traveling we always try to balance the trip so that we both enjoy the experience equally. That balance was easy to achieve at Skeena Spey. We both had a great time.

Had an absolute blast here once again. All the staff is friendly and go above and beyond day in and day out. The food is out of this world and the runs are as fishy as they can’t get. Can’t wait until next year!

I stayed for a weekend steelhead fishing and had a great time. the lodge is beautiful, the staff great, food amazing. I had a awesome time and was so well looked after. I would highly recommend this as a place for couples or a family.
The rivers were the worst they have seen them in 20 years so the fishing was almost impossible, but the guides worked really hard and got me in to one steelhead and a ton of pink salmon. The staff all love and live for fishing. each evening we discussed various topics from fly tying to sinking leaders and I learnt so much.

No I'm sorry I haven't been there in October but if you email the lodge they will be pleased to answer all your questions. I think September - October are pretty busy so I would inquire sooner rather than later. Good luck.
Hello. Although we hooked steelhead, we were not able to net any. But that is how flyfishing is. Flyfishing for steelhead is best in August, Chinook in July. The guides were extremely good! They know their water, pools and fish. The lodge is fantastic as well, the service is outstanding. What are you wating for? 😉
