We have rented the small two bedroom lakeside cottages several times. They are fully equipped for cooking and always clean and comfortable in a relaxed way. This is a lovely spot to stay and enjoy as well as a good base for visiting Algonquin. Highly recommend!
Nice staff (always with smile), free activities (kayak, ping pong, pool, tennis, basketball...), spacious cottage (3 bedroom luxury cottage), we even saw deer outside of the cottage, perfect for family vacation!
We stayed here in July. Accommodation was clean and well equipped. There is a swimming pool and small gym and also games available. Canoes are free to use on the lake.Reception staff and caretaker super friendly and helpful. Huntsville is a short drive away where there are nice restaurants and cafes. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed in the Algonquin Cottage and were very pleased. The cottage itself was very clean, well equipped and spacious for our family of four. The beach was great and there was plenty of equipment available to use (kayaks, stand up paddleboards, canoes). We enjoyed the tennis courts and the playground structure. The basketball nets were a little bit of a trek from our cottage but nice to have the option. Perhaps they could add another net to the tennis courts closer to the beach. It's a super quick drive into Huntsville if you need groceries or want to eat out. And an easy drive from Toronto. Complaints? Our boys slept in the bunk beds which were not very sturdy...they literally swayed several inches every time they moved and banged into the wall which we could hear from the master bedroom. This could be easily fixed by bolting them directly into the wall. The front load washer hasn't been taken care of. It smelled quite moldy and I'm sure previous guests have left the door closed for long periods of time. The dishwasher was incorrectly installed at an angle so the door slammed open and the bottom rack would come flying out if you aren't careful. I'm writing these complaints to give people full information but this wouldn't stop me from returning for another trip. Overall very pleased with the resort and the individual cottage.…
2 nights near lake, very quiet in April. Easy check in, cabin very clean, most things present we needed. Missing bbq lighter and matches and batteries in tv remote, glad we checked before office closed. Worked well for 2 people. Spent one day in Algonquin park nearby for hikes!! Only minor problem was turning on and controlling tv, perhaps notes about 3 controllers would help
We were looking for a short get-away from the city, and really appreciated that Blue Water Acres allows for short-term rentals during the summer, rather than having to commit to a full week. We stayed in the semi-detached Chalet Suite, which is a studio cabin. The kitchenette was well stocked with dishware, linens, salt and pepper, and dish soap. Shampoo, conditioner and soap were provided in the bathroom, as well as towels. The cabin was retro, but clean and cozy, and the bed was comfortable (but squeaky). We were thankful for the DVD player on our one rainy night, but it was strange that it was set up in a way that the plug couldn't reach the outlet! We had to adjust some cords so that it would reach. The other oddity is that there were no curtains on the entry door window, which looks straight into the bed area. There wasn't a cottage across from us, but it felt kind of creepy. Since we were only there for two days, we didn't really use the resort amenities so cannot comment on those, but the area was pretty and peaceful. The location is great, very easy to drive to both Huntsville centre and Algonquin Park. We would return to Blue Water Acres.…
Very nice place to stay and everyone enjoyed it. We stayed in a deluxe cottage, it's clean, cozy. The kitchen supplies were well stocked, we had everything we need. We will come back and stay here if we are visiting Algonquin park in the future. Highly recommend to everyone.
We booked a mid week stay in one of the small semi-detached units and were very pleased to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom Traditional Cottage. Basic, but has everything you need to enjoy a cottage stay. The cottages are well spaced giving lots of privacy and a fantastic view of the water. The beach area is well maintained, as are all the grounds and the indoor pool and hot tub were a delightful surprise. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The location is terrific, basically half way between Algonquin Park and Huntsville. We are already planning a return trip! A true hidden gem.
We went with another couple near the end of September for a quiet weekend and to enjoy the fall colours. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We had booked a 2 bedroom cottage knew it would not be spacious but did not expect to have the dining table in the middle of the living room. They were aware that 2 couples were coming but only provided seating for 3 people. We had 2 call for light bulbs as lamps did not work. My husband actually had to repair one of the lamps. Only 2 burners worked on the stove and it had to be replaced the next day. We paid over $600.00 for a 2 night stay that would have been more enjoyable and more comfortable roadside motel. The beds were the only comfortable piece of furnishing in the whole cottage. When we mentioned how dissatisfied we were with the accommodations the handyman told us we should have booked a luxury cottage if we weren't happy. Not what I would call an appropriate comment to a guest. Needless to say, we will not be returning…
This was an Interval Intl Exchange, we stayed in Unit 101, visiting Sept 22-29. Front desk staff very nice, the small issues we had were handled expediently. It was quiet and peaceful this week. Compared to a completely rustic cottage (which I peeked into while visiting), this premium cottage was appreciated. Upscale sofa, chair, dining area, gas fireplace, heated tiles in the bathroom (only a shower)! Water pressure and temp was good. Gas bbq and Muskoka chairs outside. Rec room games were fun and varied (pool table, ping pong, tabletop soccer and shuffleboard). There is an exercise room with some fitness equipment. Water sports (kayaking and canoeing) would have been nice to take advantage of, but the weather was pretty dreary, not much sun and cool. Tennis courts and racquets available too. On-site trail seemed pretty good, I only walked part way, so I can't say how long it is. We had to do a bit of a shuffle of night tables and lamps. Moved a lamp temporarily into the Muskoka Room when we did our evening reading. The dining table had 6 chairs for it, two were already in the Muskoka Room, we had moved another out to make more room ... that area was a little tight, but there were only two of us. Relatively close to attractions/hiking trails. We visited Dyer Memorial, Dorset town and Tower, Dwight, Huntsville (Portage Flyer, Group of 7 Murals, Lions Point Lookout, Brunel Lock) Bracebridge, Ragged Falls, Echo Valley trails, Screaming Heads (Burks Falls), so you won't be bored if you're an active person. The only thing negative I have to say is that we were quite disappointed in was the location of our unit within the resort. We believe it was the ONLY unit (at least of the premium units) that did not have ANY view of the lake (I took a walk around to check this out) nor a deck (2 other units may not have had a deck either). When I asked the the front desk person about this, that person admitted that 101 was the EXCHANGE unit. I had a pretty good idea beforehand that this was the case. It's also the closest to the resort exit (which isn't really a negative). But this is still not a good way to make an impression if the exchange visitors were considering a purchase at this resort. A shout out to Michelle and Mary-Lynn, they were great front desk staff. And to the fix-it staff who quickly came out to oil the front door lock when our keys started to give us trouble. I'd recommend this to others for a nice week in Muskoka, but just be prepared to be disappointed with location. However, I was told if you keep calling (after booking), you may get lucky and get moved elsewhere.…
