My first time at The Briars this past weekend and I can honestly say that it was very peaceful, relaxing with as much OR as little as you want to do. Our room was overlooking the lake side and the sunrise was amazing each morning. It was family day weekend so a lot of activities had been scheduled....from horse drawn...

Thanks Giannina for your lovely comments. I'm so please you found "as much or as little " to do as you wanted. That's a great tip for readers - we have activities each weekend as well as holidays like March Break and summer. So pleased too that the sunrise cooperated for your getaway! Best wishes, Hugh Sibbald, owner.

We were actually there in February 2016, sorry for taking so long to do my review. We had the Blue Room on the main level. Tastefully decorated with antiques, super spacious with a lovely fireplace and nice bathroom. My only suggestion to the Briars would be to remove the carpet from the entrance of the room and install tile. We...

Thanks for following up 408eva. So glad that you enjoyed the room, meals, games room and pool. Guests love to get out and walk the beautiful grounds and woods and that's a really good suggestion about putting tile in the room entrance for your your boots. Hope we have an opportunity to welcome you back. Hugh Sibbald, owner.

My wife and I stayed for the Valentine's weekend (Feb 11 to 13) and had a wonderful time. We had a room on the second floor with a fireplace, overlooking the front lawn and Peacock House. We have visited the Briars many times (since the 1980's) and can say that that the owners and staff have continually maintained and upgraded...

What an interesting and historical property. The hotel started as an old house (1800s) then was added on several times to create a unique hotel. The view from the tower is fabulous. The meals were scrumptious and served to perfection. The rooms were clean and spacious with balcony and fireplace. The grounds are beautiful. We snowshoed through the woods, took...

We have been to Briars in the past and wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. I would expect that for returning guests a suggestion about the room (we always stayed in the Manor House/ Heritage room) would be made considering our celebration that we mentioned few times when booking...It wasn't really and we ended up in musty smelling room...

We were married there in June. Excellent staff, the grounds are breathtaking and the food was unbelievably good. This is on the expensive side, and could use some updating of decor, but there are very cool little nooks and cranny places to explore in the building. It has alot of charm

We spent 2 nights at The Briars (mid January) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The highlight of our stay was the food which was fantastic. Can't say enough about the staff either. Spent our days by the indoor pool, at the spa, and finding quiet little rooms that were perfect for a bit of reading. Evenings were a highlight with awesome...

A friend and I just returned from staying one night at the Briars Resort. From the outside the resort has a nice quaint feel. The food was good but not extraordinary,we were told we were upgraded to a better room with a king-size bed. However the room was extremely dated had not been renovated in a very long time. The...

We booked a 2 night New Year package and were very pleased with our stay. We had the Canopy Room, which overlooks the lake. The food was excellent; the New Year's Eve buffet impressive. We went for a tour, a sleigh ride, and even Scottish Dancing lessons. there was dancing on both nights. What sets this place apart is that...
