Maynard Lake Lodge is the only lodge and outpost on an 8000 acher section of the English River System. We are only accessable by float plane , yet offer five star accommodations and dinning in this remote setting. We catch trophy walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, and musky on a daily basis. Our full service resort allows you to think about nothing but catching the next fish and enjoying the friends, family and bussines partners you came with. We take care of everything from your morning coffee to your evenning cocktail and the in between is unforgetable

My friend Rick and I were first-timers at Maynard Lake Lodge as ice fishing guests. Lodge owner Josh, fishing guide Goose, and support guy Jordan were nothing short of friendly, welcoming and experienced. Our objective was primarily lake trout and Goose dialed us in to two days of superb lake trout action but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. On the day of our arrival (mid-afternoon), we snowmobiled about a block or two down the shore from the lodge with walleyes in mind. It didn't take long and my partner Rick hauled in (and released) a 29" walleye - a personal best for him! The nest two days were focused on lake trout which required snowmobile travel to a remote lake which we hoped would produce trout - produce it did and not just trout. A nice walleye, several big northerns and a few whitefish added to the mix and were a nice bonus. The trout action was everything I had hoped it would be, and then some. Our guide, Goose, was helpful, knowledgeable, and just a great guy to have around. We enjoyed everything from start to finish and I'm already looking forward to returning next winter. Special thanks to Josh for his preparation of the lake trout excursion as well as his overall coordination of everything that goes into a winter stay - much appreciated! This review wouldn't be complete without mention of Josh's fine cooking - from hearty breakfasts to grilling moose brats out on the ice for lunch/snacks to ribeye steaks and fresh fish dinner, it just doesn't get any better! Thanks again for a great ice fishing vacation in such a beautiful, remote setting as Maynard Lake.

No access roads, so you take a float plane from Kenora into Maynard Lake. The staff greeted us at the dock and took us directly to a great breakfast. After breakfast we went directly to fishing. Everything is 5-Star and First Class! The meals are chef-prepared and excellent. You could eat as much as you want and I left every meal stuffed. For breakfast there was a special every day (omlet, pancakes, French toast) or you could do any combination of eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns. There was a shore lunch every day with fresh caught walleye, plenty of sides, and fantastic spuds by the fire. Dinners were 3 courses consisting of a soup/salad, main course (steak, ribs, roast pig, pork chop), then a desert. All were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and willing to chat or offer fishing advice, whether you were taking a guide or not. The facilities were very nice for a remote destination. The staff brought hot chocolate and/or coffee every morning before breakfast. The rooms were cleaned every day while we were out fishing Most of the other guests seemed to be jigging for walleye most of the time. They were catching a seemingly endless supply. I heard one group state that their boat caught 100 walleye in a morning. We mostly trolled or cast around the lake looking for larger northern or walleye. We still caught a ton of fish. Some of my personal highlights: * 4 bass (15”, 16.5”, 17.5”, and 19”) * Countless Northern Pike, including 4-5 from 34-36” * Lots of walleye and a couple sauger My Father-in-Law caught a 37” pike and Brother-in-Law caught a 39” pike. DEFINITELY GOING BACK NEXT YEAR!

Had an outstanding fishing adventure in September 2021. LOOK, if you want to fish in Canada, Maynard Lake Lodge is where you need to go. PERIOD! Maynard Lodge offers the total package for the outdoors man and the family. This includes the facilities, boats, food, guides, shore lunch and of course catching fish. Not just fishing, but catching as many as you can handle. I’ve had the opportunity to fish in many states as well as the Amazon and Maynard Lake Resort is the best.

Fantastic experience. Did a 3 day fishing trip with the boys and it was unreal. The guides are awesome and the food is five star. And the fishing is just ridiculous. We own a camp on Lake of the Woods so we know the deal. This is next level. Thanks to Josh and the staff. See you next year. Mark

Josh & Kayla run an outstanding lodge. The facilities are top notch, the staff and guides were always looking to make our experience comfortable and the food was amazing. The fishing experience was beyond description. Our entire group caught in excess of 100 fish daily. The shore lunch was always excellent and the variety of the menu was excellent. I hope to return next year

I have been to various remote fly in camps/lodges in northern Ontario and I have to say that Josh & Kayla and their staff run the best camp I've ever been to. They are extremely organized and very friendly. From the minute you arrive to the time you board the plane to leave, they pay attention to every detail to make sure your stay is perfect. The cabins are clean and comfortable with fresh towels every day. The lodge is top notch with fantastic food and deserts, not to mention a full bar with a fireplace to enjoy a before or after meal drink. Their guides are experienced and very knowledgable, they'll have you catching fish within minutes. I've been to camps where the fishing was very good...but Maynard Lake is the best that has a very healthy fishery. I estimate that we (me and my fishing buddy) caught over 100 fish each day. A lot of 20-25" walleye....my buddy caught a 42" and a 43.5" northern...not to mention several smallmouth in that 16-20" range. Guides use 50 & 60 hp Yamaha 4 stroke motors that run perfectly. Each boat is equipped with the latest electronics and fishing tackle for what ever type fishing you want to do. I really don't know how anyone could be disappointed with this place. Just "Outstanding"!!

From the staff, to the accommodations, to the food…. It’s all first class and an incredible fly-in fishing experience! It’s clear that Josh and his wife Kayla are intent on making your stay at the lodge the best it can be. They care about every detail and want to know if something isn’t quite right! The guides are fantastic and know the lake system well. They are treated like family and it shows!

We took our 2 young girls to Maynard Lake Lodge and we had the most amazing time! We were lucky enough to get to go out onto the lake with Josh not once, but twice and could not have asked for a better experience. Our girls caught their first fish, we had delicious shore lunches, walked some incredible bush trails, my husband even got to give Muskie fishing a try, and of course we were surrounded by amazing people. The food was awesome as well!! Can't wait to go back to this beautiful and make more memories! Thank you Josh, Kayla, Storm, and Axton!!

After two earlier trips to Maynard Lake with "the guys", I decided to organize a trip with my 3 sons along with my best friend and his son this past summer. It was an incredible trip that surpassed all expectations and will be remembered forever.I have to mention that I have done somewhere around 12 - 15 fishing trips to NW Ontario fishing lodges. I have organized friend trips and corporate trips over the past 25 years. Maynard Lake stands out as the best, and that is why I will continue coming back. Josh & Kayla along with their team are a cut above the rest in many significant facets of their operation. Here are a few things that stand out compared to some of the other lodges I have fished with previously: They are organized! Details and requests for your trip are asked for, noted and fulfilled! Cabins are super clean, well cared for and recently built or updated! The staff is so far beyond any other I have been around, they are a well oiled machine trained to take care of all your needs! The boats and motors are new and well maintained. Your boat will be scrubbed clean, gear organized and loaded with your requested drinks, food and supplies everyday like magic! The fishing is diverse, challenging enough without being too challenging, and has some incredibly unique terrain including rivers, creeks, waterfalls and endless structure. Four species of game fish in one body of water that far north is hard to find! I don't even know where to start regarding the food. I have been to other fishing lodges where you are denied second helpings because of the excessive cost of supplies at "fly in" locations. Let me promise you that you'll not ever go hungry at Maynard! The food is outstanding, and the portions were never limited. When you package all this together with niceties not even mentioned such as fresh coffee delivered to your cabin each morning, and a bucketful of ice each evening at cocktail time, you begin to understand why Maynard has become the lodge of choice for us veterans. I am a bit hesitant to write this because I really don't want the secret out, but these guys deserve it because they are that good!
