Positives: The service in general. The shower, the fridge, the microwave, being able to open the window. Things to work on: The thin walls. We heard a baby consistently crying and a guy vomiting in the wee hours. Someone tried to get into our room using the door that we shared - pushing against it and pulling hard, several times. Thankfully we locked it right when we arrived. The pillows smelled like cheap aftershave and cigarettes. Unfortunately, we were greeted by a lot of garbage thrown at the front entrance consisting of used diapers, condoms, and PPE equipment. Alas, we won’t return. We’ve enjoyed our previous 2 stays, pre-covid. Perhaps they might be undergoing some tough times given the pandemic, and the lifting of restrictions. It can’t be easy. I hope they’re able to land on workable solutions.…
They upgraded me (for IHG Spire) to a loft king suite. This was greatly appreciated as we were on a skiing vacation and could really use the extra space. The suite, although dated in design and showing quite some signs of tear and wear, was very clean and super spacious. The lower level featured an office desk, a small sofa, a sofa chair a couch table, a fireplace and an extended countertop in the kitchenette. I only wish they put in a proper kitchen table with two chairs as well. There was a full bathroom in each of the levels. The top (loft) level included a king bed, a jacuzzi next to it and another bathroom. The views from the suite over the mountain peaks were amazing. The stayover housekeeping service on each of the 5 days was great, they did not miss anything and even vacuumed the suite. The hotel itself is a bit dated and tired in some areas, the staff are mostly friendly and accommodating. The only disappointment was the offered welcome drink - you can only choose a non-alcoholic one. When in Canmore again, I will gladly stay here.…
My friend and I go to Canmore 4 times a year. We always stay at the Holiday Inn. Last time we were there we had a problem with the heat in our room. Ana and her staff worked diligently to get us another room and solve the heat problem in our favourite room. We were treated like family and will continue to go there whenever we go to Canmore. We have tried another place years ago and were not impressed so went back to the Holiday Inn. We will not stay anywhere else.
I had booked a room for one evening , and the day of my booking my mother slipped and dislocated her shoulder so i was unable to go as i had to take her to the emergency room and care for her. Upon calling and speaking with the management team at the Holiday Inn they said that under no circumstances emergency or not will the approve the cancellation and refund me the payment because they have a strict no cancellation policy. This management clearly cares about money more then family and the care and well being of others.
I have to say the new chef Earl makes the most amazing pancakes 100% hands down the best we’ve ever had! We look forward to Earl’s breakfast when we come to Canmore. Having a great chef honestly makes a huge difference and we will be back knowing he’s here! Thanks Earl we love our pancakes from you : )
