This is one of the more terrible hotels I have stayed at. There wifi if public so it is not secure and there keycards don’t work at all, we had to rebound them over 5 times. The quality in there name is just a lie. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at any costs.

Dear Alexedm, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at our hotel. We are very sorry that you had an unpleasant stay. Our goal is to ensure everyone has a great stay. Our new WIFI system has just been installed one week ago and it is indeed a secure system through CLIENT ISOLATION. We are very happy with the system. There is a modem outside of every room and it offers uninterrupted WIFI. The CLIENT ISOLATION feature allows for a lock down on the Wi-Fi network. This feature confines and restricts each client connected to the Wi-Fi network. They can’t interact with devices connected to the network, nor can they communicate with each other. They can only access the Internet. I did contact the company Cyberdon who installed our system to verify this and they assured me that each client is secure. It’s unfortunate that you had to waste your time with going back and forth to have your key programmed. The battery in the lock likely needed changing. I am very sorry that our staff did not assess the problem and deal with it immediately. I can imagine that this was very annoying. We apologize for that. After reading your review, I did speak with our new desk staff and asked them to be diligent in dealing with such issues and if in doubt, contact a supervisor or manager for assistance. Your feedback is very important to us and we can assure you that we will use this information to do everything possible to create an enjoyable experience for each of our guests. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Donna Trautman General Manager Quality Resort Chateau Canmore 403-678-6699

This is a difficult hotel to review. You could focus on the bad things and be right or focus on the good and be right as well. The truth is somewhere in between. They have done some renovations but not enough. You can literally see the wear and tear (and sloppy workmanship) in the rooms and in the hotel. That's too bad because the things they have that worked are fairly nice and the staff is friendly. It's hard to describe this lack of attention but I'll try. There's a nice new sink top on top of a beaten down base. The HVAC unit was out of the 1970's, I think, but still works. The wall above the nice fireplace had some kind of damage. The curtains were stained above the HVAC unit. There was a nice chair and sofa but the chair had some kind of stain that needed to be cleaned. Nice desk and chair. Bed were not comfortable at all. As an older hotel, you can hear the feet hitting the floor above you. There is no free breakfast but a 10% discount card at the overpriced restaurant that is in the hotel. That said, there is a Tim Horton's down the street and if you want a real Canadian breakfast, it's Tim's. The restaurant closes at 3 p.m. so you'll need to look elsewhere for dinner. The two major grocery stores in town have fresh prepared food you can bring back and warm up. There are many restaurants in Canmore as well and, if you are a drinker, bars that are open late. There is a guest laundry in the hotel. Parking was a hassle and snow and ice wasn't cleared well from the parking lot. I would stay here again but it would not be my first choice. If only they took more pride in maintenance . . .

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you provided to make improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guests in the future. We are currently working on a plan to renovate and update the property. Most of the beds are new and another section of room’s beds are being replaced this week. Having been built in the early 90’s, the hotel does look dated in some areas. There have been infrastructure purchases in the past year that were very costly and slowed plans for more of the aesthetics and comforts of the property. Chez Francois is locally renowned for putting on a great breakfast yet it will cost you more that a visit to Tim’s. They have recently moved in from another location and will eventually be open for dinner as well. The 10% discount card is for hotel guests only and is intended to entice guests to stay on site to eat. Most of the staff are new to the property having worked here under 2 years, including myself. There were many maintenance and operational issues and we take pride in the fact that we have made great headway in correcting and improving the operation. However, we know there is still much to be done. Parking has been a struggle this winter with the tremendous amount of snow we have received and lack of space available to dispose of it. This is a daily endeavor. Again, we apologize and hope that you will consider staying with us in the future so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. Sincerely, Donna Trautman General Manager Quality Resort Chateau Canmore 403-678-6699

Stayed at the hotel for a weekend getaway. Definitely a cute rustic feel to the rooms which my friend and I enjoyed! The staff member working the evenings, around 4 and later or so, was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Got to our room, (we started in room 428) and enjoyed the amenities we got. Electric fireplace, awesome!! Checked the room out, noticed hair and some smalVl stains. Could easily tell the room was old, had wear and tear and could see there were Reno’s in process. But could also tell that the cleaners really didn’t put a ton of effort into the rooms, which is crazy when seeing how long they took per room. When going to bed, realized we couldn’t get the air conditioner/heater to work. But as it was 1AM we just opened the window and decided to get it looked at the next day. Well to our surprise we didn’t get to stay in that room passed the second day of our 3 day trip. While getting ready to go explore town, we had noticed something crawling on the ceiling above the bed. After inspecting and trying to kill it. We found out it was a BEDBUG. A full one at that as it exploded on the ceiling. After tearing apart the room and a lot of googling. We took the bug down to the main desk. Told the 2 staff members working, and were met with a mix of sympathy and what felt like annoyance. They took the bug, inspected it. Asked us if we had any bites, and offered for us to move rooms. We got the cards for our new room and had asked the 2 male staff members if it would be possible to get change for the dryer. So that we could put all of our clothing, bags, and anything else we could into the dryer to kill off anything that may have gotten in it. (We were in the room for 23 hours, had stuff all over the place in the bedroom and on the floor/beds) and wanted to kill any chance of taking it home with us. After being stumped by our request and rolling their eyes at our concern, they told us we could bag up our stuff and bring it down to them and they could put it in the big industrial dryer. Needless to say we had decided (being 2 females) that we would just splurge the $2 to use the dryer on our floor in order to not have to A. male strangers taking our clothing and INTIMATES to be heat treated. B. Them tell us it was done, and have the chance it never truly was. And C. As we had to throw everything clothing related into the dryer as it was all in the bedroom and could be contaminated, we didn’t want to walk around the bulk of the hotel.. butt naked wrapped in bed sheets. The new room they gave us was 418. The room smelt a lot better, had a lot newer amenities, the air conditioner worked. And after a full inspection, couldn’t find any traces of bugs. All in all felt a lot more comfortable instantly. The issue was more the cleanliness again. When your tearing through beds and all the cracks and crevasses you really find a lot. Found one of our tv removes under a chair, the other was missing all together. There was a cheeto on the floor by the bed, popcorn and mint wrappers behind the bed, a coffee cup behind the bedroom nightstand. What looked to be crusty boogers in one of the bathroom towels. The only reason I’m giving the hotel 2 stars is due to the evening staff member who was very helpful, and the fact that the rooms were nice, just needed an upgrade and a better clean. But with finding bedbugs, getting what felt like attitude with our precautionary concerns, (to the fact we didnt feel comfortable going and asking for anything after the incident unless it was the evening worker) and we couldn’t even be compensated $2 to be able to give ourselves peace of mind after finding bedbugs in our room. There was no compensation offered besides a “sorry here’s another room” I was gifted this almost $300 reservation and was treated like I was over reacting.

We loved our stay at this adorable hotel in Canmore. All of the rooms are suites equipped with stone fireplaces, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, fridge, and two televisions. The hot tub is outside and was wonderful on our warm NYE stay. Things to be aware of is that there are no wine glasses or cutlery available for your use, no room service, and the towels in the pool are hand towel size so if you need something bigger, bring one from your room. There is a mountain view from every room. All in all, we loved our stay and would be happy to return for our next visit.

Very happy with our stay in this hotel. Loved the outdoor hot tub - had it to myself in the morning where I enjoyed my morning coffee. Loved having a suite where I could watch TV in the living room and my hubby could watch his show in the bedroom. Very happy with our stay. If breakfast was included, it would have been perfect. They did provide the 10% off coupon to the restaurant, though. I thought it was a little high priced too because it was not very busy. But all the hotels were asking high prices for one night. Unfortunately because the prices were so high we only stayed one night. In the past we would have stayed 2 or 3 nights so we carried on to Calgary where you could get a reasonable priced hotel which included a restaurant. I know it is based on demand but in mid September, I do not think the demand is there.
