Friends suggested we upgrade to the gold floor, i.e. 14th floor, (for an extra $100 in our case)… so worth it considering you have access to the lounge with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, all day snacks, and 5-7pm hot and cold appetizers/snacks (enough to substitute for dinner). There also a self serve liquor bar via an honour system, a bit pricy as each ounce is $15-17. Wine bottles are a better deal if you’re planning on 4 ounces or more. Make sure you ask for a room on the tarmac side if you like watching planes take off/land.

I was travelling with my two young kids. No husband in tow and it was a very challenging experience for me. I missed my connecting flight due to my first flight being delayed. Coming home from holidays my kids were over tired & missed their dad. Long story short. I needed a place to stay, I ended up at the elevator of the fairmont yvr with my screaming two year old & around the corner comes Naryan. Hero #1. Instantly offers me a water and assists me onto the elevator while my son is still screaming. He didn’t even ask if I was staying at the fairmont. He didn’t think twice about helping me. Amazing human being. Once he assisted me to the front desk the tears started rolling down my face as I told him I didn’t have a room and was hoping they could accommodate. Which is when the lovely Jenny stepped in. Hero #2. So calm, so supportive. Another amazing human being. Grabbed me tissues. She Took control of the situation & I appreciated it so much. While I was speaking with Jenny, Naryan quickly grabbed a box full of stuffed toys behind the counter and offered them to my kids. At that time, my son had finally calmed down thanks to Naryan. My Long story short… isn’t so short anymore! I realize the importance of explaining my situation to really emphasize the appreciation I had and have for Jenny & Naryan. The second my kids entered the room it felt like a huge weight off my shoulders. Their joy to see the runway and planes was incredible and quickly changed everyone’s moods. Mine especially. And that was all thanks to Jenny. I worked at the fairmont waterfront from 2013-2018 and now live in beautiful Smithers, BC. But it reminded me why I loved working at the Fairmont. The people you work with was always the reason to stay. Oh & The BATHTUB was hero #3. There is No one Better then the Fairmont. End of Story!

This was our third stay this year, we had a great stay back in February but I now realize what a difference your room assignment can make. The obvious pros of this property remain, the biggest being its amazing location! It's located directly at the airport, attached to the IS departure area. We generally park our car at the YVR long term parking lot and then hop on SkyTrain and it's maybe a five minute walk to the check in from the the train. Likewise it was five minutes or less to walk from our hotel room to our check in for our flight las week. Although a nice property, pricing here is generally surprisingly high, sometimes signi more than even other Vancouver area Fairmonts. So how much you value the location will play against the potential cost premium of your stay. The last two times we stayed here we were placed, in the "deluxe rooms", these aren't the gold level floors or anything and at the time I thought they were just the baseline rooms. I didn't pay extra for them but I guess they had availability and the check in people just proactively upgraded us. This time I actually thought to ask what room we were getting and when I was told it was a lower floor I asked for a higher floor with maybe a view. I was told those were the deluxe rooms and that they were more recently renovated, and was told it would be extra for one so we just took the bse room. The two queen rooms all have the same layout: they're quite large with a enough room for some nice seating next to the large picture windows, Keurig coffee machines, a stocked mini bar but no fridge. The bathrooms are huge with a really nice oversized soaker tub, separate shower and the toilet is in its own compartment. The only issue is the bathroom opens with shutters to the bed area. Very nice for a couple or single person but not ideal for a family or group travelling together as there's a lot of light and noise leaking from the bathroom to the other areas of the room. Our room wasn't bad or anything, it just wasn't quite up to the same niceness of the previous rooms we'd had. The biggest hassle was a lack of plugs by the beds. I use a CPAP machine and I had to climb under and the bedside table and unplug the lamp just to have a plug. There didn't even seem to be usb chargers at the bedside, maybe that sounds pretty but at $400 for an airport location one expects these things. The lightning system in these rooms is infuriating with vaguely worded panels that mysteriously control all of the lightning in the room. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice hotel but the older rooms are definitely showing their are and it becomes a little galling considering their age. If you can get a decent rate and are flying out of YVR then it's a no brainer. Otherwise you may want to consider other options.

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport is an excellent choice if you are ever in Vancouver, BC. Great location! Comfortable, modern & very quite & clean. All guest services personnel were helpful & friendly. It was especially great to just walk out of the hotel & board our flight back to North Carolina. Wonderful experience!

I just wanted to send a huge Thank You to all of your Front Desk staff and especially Cathy Chen from IRD. You all took such great care of my mom - who stayed last night May 27th for 1 night. The prompt responses, emails, text messages and phone calls I received from your outstanding IRD team were exceptional, regarding an amenity I had ordered prior to arrival. My request to your Front Desk team for an early check in for Mom was never guaranteed- yet you were able to accommodate- which I really appreciate. Thanks again to all your fabulous staff, what an incredible team you have at Fairmont YVR. Sent from my iPhone

I had a great experience at this hotel. We upgraded to Gold at the check in desk and we couldn’t be happier. The staff were helpful and the hotel is so conveniently located in the airport terminal. I’ll definitely be going back on future trips.

We had stayed here before and love the fact that it is within the airport terminal. Excellent location of course in Canada’s best airport. The room and the food were superb but everything is very expensive at the Fairmont.

Stayed on the Gold Floor as my wife and son had an early flight out to avoid them having to wake up really early to get to the airport. The view from our room and the Gold lounge is amazing. My kids thought it was great to see the planes landing and taking off. The pool was nice as well and pretty unique to overlook the check-in area. Definitely worth a splurge if you want to avoid the hassle of commuting to the airport to catch a flight!

Great food at the Jetside lounge. Location is perfect for an early morning flight if you don't want to commute to the airport in the early, early morning. Room amenities are great - the personal touches eg. a welcome pastry platter with a nice Birthday greeting was a pleasant surprise. Thank you Team Accor !!

We stayed for one night prior to our flight. The room was very large and comfortable. The bathroom was also very large, with separate shower and tub. We found the room very quiet. You can't beat the convenience of the location. We stopped by for a snack and drinks at the Jetside Lounge, and enjoyed the live music.
