The owner came to transport us from the main road in Villany. We had a great tour by wagon of the vineyards.Amazing views. We then had a wine tasting and dinner. Excellent service, food. and of course wine. A must see and experience while in the area

After a lot of searching, I have been able to discover where to write a review on this hotel. We did not stay overnight however a group of friends including locals visited this restaurant, the food was relatively simple had a tremendous taste and served with professionalism and friendliness. The local musical group played interesting Hungarian music with a gypsy flavour. Well worth finding and certainly a restaurant I would revisit

Every year we are in Villany for the 1st weekend after the red wine festival, and we always stay @ Bock, but we always try out something new. This year it was the wine tasting @ Polgar's. Not only we had a beautiful selection of wines, but we were also accompanied by the owner and his wife for about an hour. There was a lot of story telling, quite many wine, and we just had a great time! In terms of the wines, I particularly suggest the Chardonnay - Muscat Cuvee and the Kadarka. None of them belonged to my favorites before, but that has changed!

Lovely family, definitely try the unique barique chardonnay! Nice traditional Hungarian food, served by the owners, lots of wine stories and anecdotes...these guys know how to entertain guests! Simple but very good value for money. Definitely come here rather than the big names!!

If you want to experience the real hospitality in Villany this is your winery! A guided tour with the winemaker is a must :) They will join your table and tell a lot about the wines you are having. They serve the best wines - go for the red ones - can't wait to go back again!

When in Villany, you must go to this place. A 200 year old wine cellar cum hotel welcomed us with warmth and took us around the cellar sharing all the minute details about the varieties of wine they have how they make it. Special Kudos to Mr. Simon and his team to take care of us and educating us and giving good insights about wine culture in Hungary.

If you are looking for the lap of luxury there are other choices in Villany that offer more comfortable and modern rooms....But, if you are seeking a warm greeting at check in( plus a nice welcome glass of wine to boot!) genuine hospitality and a lovely dinner then this is a good economical choice. Attila who works the front desk speaks excellent English and was very helpful and kind. Mrs Polgar took a small group of us to cellars where we sampled some of their excellent wine. She is someone who obviously cares about her guests and it really shows in the dinners served at the hotel... With a limited menu that changes with the seasons we had a very nice al-fresco dinner in the peaceful courtyard. The fresh pea soup poured over crunchy baby aubergines , mild onion and shredded cheese was especially delicious... It is also a good time to try some of their prize winning wines by the glass... If your Hungarian isn't up to snuff Attila will be happy to talk about the varietal and vintage as it is poured... This will be one of your better meals in a town that serves some very nice food... Even if you chose to stay elsewhere It is well worth booking a table for dinner..

Since 2004 we are returning each year, because it is a very nice place, great hospitality, excellent wines and gastronomy + they accept dogs. The family owns the hotel follow - as role model - traditions, really passionized about their work, grape, wines and gastronomy. I strongly recommend to try it, I think ir is a good choice and provide high value for the money.

This is a very fine panzio. Well located a 10 minute walk from the main street in Villany. The rooms are large (we were given a suite) Each room appears to have a balcony or terrace. Very nice and helpful staff. Their wines are excellent and a very good meal is served in thier restaurant. A good breakfast is provided. Highly recommended.

I stayed here in 2013 for a weekend (Friday and Sunday). The rooms are lovely, the food was tasty and we had a very interesting wine-cellar tour with the owner (Zoltán Polgár). We have spent a relaxing weekend, I can advise this place for anyone who would like to see an authentic wine cellar.
