Detailed Reviews
We were very disappointed on our arrival at the hotel, the entire place was deserted with just one of the waiters to take us to our room, the aids which had been requested and promised were absent but eventually obtained upon request, although the shower chair had evidently not been cleaned or sanitised, the glide about chair which had been promised they did not have but to the managers credit he ordered one which arrived as we boarded the bus to return home! We tried to order some lunch on arrival but was told there wasn't anything available, I pointed out that we were told lunches are available, so eventually some dry toast with cheese in which was supposedly toasted sandwiches was brought to us in the dining room for which we were charged £15, they were inedible! We had been told it was possible to walk out to the surrounding area , be warned it is impossible to leave the premises without transport.
However the transport and all the drivers are absolutely excellent, the drivers are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, they made up for our original disappointment. We had been told to expect fine dining cooked by a chef who had recently joined them from The Savoy., again this was not true, the food was very repetitive, extremely poor quality, no fresh ingredients whatsoever and the same menu for 5 consecutive days, . The hotel is extremely clean , the rooms are well equipped but missing some of the essential comforts of an hotel ie a mirror, comfortable chair hairdryer etc, these items are available on request but should be offered when being shown to your room, This hotel could be improved so much with just small adjustments, it has an identity crisis it is almost akin to a care home rather than an hotel. we had been promised evening entertainment but there was none. Despite all the disappointments we really enjoyed our holiday and it gave us an opportunity to see Jersey,
I would recommend that you double check the promises that were made when making the booking because many of the things were told to us by a member of staff who has now left and were simply not true. The hotel is in a remote location which is beautiful but impossible to leave on foot even for the able bodied , and certainly not for a wheelchair user.

The hotel had a family environment to it because the manager Steve brought his daughter in daily, the staff were very friendly, especailly Steve, Sarah, Christine, Kevin ,Castro, Karen and Lynne.
the hotel had an over 40's feel to it because of the clientele vibe to the place
the facilities are amazing celling track hoists in my bed room and one in the swimming pool area on request along with ramped access in the pool as well l except from the bathroom.
the location of the hotel was idyllic but if you are a family you want to explore, but the hotel has a minibus which you can request at the time of booking, but we felt tied to it because of the distance to everything, and are restricted to times such as pick up times when you are at your day out, after saying that Kevin and Castro are the main minibus drivers are so knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly. there is an alnerative to their minibus with public buses that are frequent but you have to walk to the bus stop.
if you are a family visiting expect no entertainment and the menu changes every 3 days regards food, but the bar is reasonable.
this hotel is ideal for couples who has a disabled partner
solo travellers and is ideal for a weekend retreat to relax.

Staff, facilities & location all excellent. The manager and his staff were all very helpful, and knowledgable about location. Facilities very carefully designed. Food and dining room staff excellent. We were fortunate to have a great cohort of fellow guests would highly recommend.

The first time that I stayed here with my Assistance GSD (Sept 2023) I was so impressed that I booked and paid for June and Sept 24 before I left.
Sadly, this visit was a 360% change and within the first 2 hours of arriving I wanted to go home :-(
I have to state a couple of things categoricallyin this review, it is entirely mine, uninfluenced by anyone else and with no hidden agendas.
The welcome from the minibus drivers who knew me from last year was genuinely warm and welcoming as was the one from the new drivers.
Likewise the lovely serving staff and the housekeeping team offered a warm welcome, catching up with staff from last year and meeting new ones.
The reason that my stay was at times poor was sadly and solely down to the Manager who I had met and had little interaction with last year.
Last year, I dealt almost exclusively with the Assistant Manager - primarily because she was always available and visible to guests throughout my 14 night stay.
Before she left, it had been agreed that I would be accompanied by not only my Assistance Dog but a 12 week old Tonkinese kitten in training as an Emotional Support cat.
The Manager appeared to be unaware of this arrangement and was quite abrasive in his comments.
I pointed out that she had a secure playpen and would not be free in the public areas, when I was out on trips she would accompany me as part of her training.
His "welcome" left me feeling unwelcome, tearful and a nuisance.
Throughout, he and I sadly were not to see an improvement in our lackof relationship.
I'm profoundly deaf (a change from last year) and Luda barks to inform me of people behind me, or approaching if she knows I'm not paying attention.
There was a large party booked in and I was asked to "muzzle" her for the sake of other guests following a complaint.
I felt that I had no option but to agree, although I did point out in an email that this stopped her from doing her job as my Assistance Dog, not just alerting me, but picking up dropped items, alerting me to seizures ect.
My email was responded to though the several issues raised I had "misconstrued", "misheard", was totally wrong or they were completely disregarded.
A new reason was given for Luda's need to be "muzzled" in public places. Apparently a new complaint "that she had tried to bite someone and displayed aggressive behaviour. Professional advice (had been) sought and the outcome was the muzzling decree.
I asked in writing for details of the complaint as Luda is permanently attched to my chair when on duty, and never off duty around other people. I asked for details of the professional these questions were ignored.
I was unfortunately admitted twice to A&E accompanied on both occasions by Luda and spending firstly 16 hours and secondly 8 hours in a busy hospital with an unmuzzled (and loved by the majority off staff) Luda.
We went on Wet Wheels x 2, fabulous experiences and they were delighted to welcome dog and kitten.
Throughout, our stay at MDL the fly in the ointment was the Manager who on top of everything else did his best to ignore my requests for conversations to be on record in writing.
This trip scores a poor and not a terrible because the large number of times that he was thankfully not present.
I made it clear that this would be my final visit and that my friends would be cancelling too. He has made no efforts to rectify the situation in anyway.
The rest of the staff were fantastic and I wish for their sakes that this could have been the glowing review they so richly deserve.
Sadly however the Manager is the one with overall responsibility for guests welfare and he failed in this area.
Apart from my direct issues, I was present when he offered drinks to an elderly lady who had, had a fall resulting in a head injury and subsequently a hip operation as hers was broken in the fall.
I'm extremely concerned that he was not aware of this basic in First Aid practise of not offering food or drink to someone with a head injury or the potential for one. Thankfully another staff member interviened.
These issues and others have been raised with one of the Trustees but I have no trust in anything being followed up or dealt with.

My review is as I found the hotel etc in my own words not influenced by anyone.
Just got home from a week at the hotel. 7th-14th October 2024. This is my 2nd visit to the newly refurbished hotel. My 5th visit to the hotel. I was so looking forward to my week away as last year had been amazing, the assistant manager was just brilliant she made sure we knew where we could go organised the hotel minibuses etc. We even got to go surfing! This year the hotel feels like it's lost it's heart. The amazing assistance manager had left which was sad as she really looked after us. Steve the manager was very rude to me he implied that i was greedy, at breakfast I had sausage egg and beans. He came over and I asked why no sunday roast? his reply, looking at my food, said 'you'd eat a roast dinner after that' implying I'm greedy. He sat down in a public area by me in the dining hall. He said he had had an e mail from the trust who I had a partial grant from, he then asked me who was going to pay the balance of £126, I said I had paid it in May!! How embarrassing anyone could of heard!! I then had to ask him later if all was ok he said yes, why hadn't he come to me, why did i have to go to him!!! I reported my wash toilet to him as I couldn't get it to work he said 'what's a wash toilet? then added ask the cleaner'. Maybe a little card by the toilet to say how it worked would be good? Then on Saturday morning we were just finishing breakfast ready to go to St Aubin. The driver was waiting Steve told him to go with the other 2 ladies not saying to us bus is going do you want to go. Later he was leaving with his family i asked if the driver was coming back to get us he then said the bus goes every day at 11 and the drivers said you've been late everyday. The driver returned with the 2 ladies at 2.15. (The driver took us out we had a nice afternoon.) Later I asked both drivers if they had said that about us, they both confirmed no, so he was lying to me and my friend. At our 1st morning he came to our table said what would you like to do, then added you can do what you like the buses will take us anywhere he gave us no time restrictions. On our way home this morning I said goodbye to Ruth the supervisor as she was sat in the lounging area of the dining room. She replied 'oh are you going home?' If we hadn't organised what time we needed to leave for airport with the drivers which was 11.30 the buses could of been out with other guests! Steve the manager didn't say anything he didn't even see us off we just left. The drivers were amazing. The dining room staff excellent the food was lovely and the cleaning staff were great. The only thing bad about the hotel was the manager and the supervisor who only approached us on 1 day (our last day) of 7 to find out what we wanted to do. The refurbishment of the hotel is lovely the rooms are comfortable clean, nice bedding and a fully equipped wet room. Only thing missing is a red alarm cord by the bed. We were not shown to our rooms and shown the facilities, our luggage was just taken to our rooms. The other let down was the furniture in the orangery its not sutible for disabled people. We met the chairman i asked him about it, he said we know we bought the wrong furniture, he said that last year to and we are not the only people to say it's not comfortable. We were promised entertainment we had 1 night a singer and guitarist. There was a pop up jewellery shop Friday eve at 6pm. My friend and I went down to the dining room we passed the gentleman with his jewellery i asked if he had put it out, he replied I've hurt my leg so wasn't going to put it out we had gone down specifically to see it so he put it out, my friend and I bought some items we then found out Steve had said there's only a few guests you don't have to put it out. Then the jewellery salesman told us that evenings entertainment was cancelled that wasnt his place to tell us, it was managements!! Really can't believe this man is the manager he's not interested in the guests just himself. We won't go back unless he goes. If you go, expect 5* service from staff but not management.

Extremely well equipped hotel for people with disabilities, staying at Maison des Landes will certainly not disappoint!
I stayed in a Premium room which had direct ceiling track hoist facilities from bed to the toilet, if one wishes to use the shower however make sure to ask for a roll in shower chair as the track hoist doesn't reach the fold down shower chair.
The bathroom was equipped with a Closomat wash/dry toilet and a sink which one should be able to wheel under in a wheelchair (however my chair wouldn't quite fit so I would recommend that the hotel considers a height adjustable sink or places it just a tad higher. There is an emergency alarm cord next to the loo but sadly not by the bed which would also be handy.
Wardrobes have lowered rails and the main door despite being a fire door has a clever mechanism which means it is very light and easier to open if like me you struggle with limited shoulder strength and range of movement.
The keyed entry is tricky to use, lovely key rings but not practical as bulky - scanning a card would be much easier. I also struggled opening the patio door and window so automatic door and window openers should be considered.
The room had a modern profiling bed as standard but I couldn't reach the light switches so again this is where environmental controls would come in handy.
Plenty of power sockets with USB ports with one assigned for charging a scooter.
Room was clean, modern and feeling fresh with direct access to a private patio area, no carpets so easy to keep clean, non slip flooring in the wet room. One must request if they want their tea/coffee facilities topping up though. The kettle was tricky to use with one hand as the lid wouldn't stand open - I would recommend a kettle tipper in each room too.
I also had to ask for a hairdryer as these are no longer kept in the rooms as they have disappeared!
Other equipment can be asked for, I requested a raised loo seat as the commode wouldn't fit over the loo - Closomats are notorious for being bulky but other wash/dry options are available. I also asked for a grabber to help with the light switches.
The restaurant is amazing! Spacious and light with great sea views and the food honestly the best I have ever eaten. The menu changes every so many days but it was that good I would order anything knowing it would be well prepared and tasty. Compliments to the chef and all kitchen staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it is literally like home away from home. Small touches like a welcome mocktail make such a difference.
There is also a lounge area with TV, games and jigsaws etc. We fed back that it would benefit from some comfy high backed chairs as the high chairs were still to low for some to be able to get up from easily. Consider also comfy chairs with a hi-lo raise function as well as those that tilt you forward.
The setting is beautiful as well. Rural and on top of the moors! Just the ticket for some rest and relaxation.
Hydro pool is clean and accessed by ramp or hoist - bring your own sling if wanting to use this facility. Floatation devices are a plenty!
The excursions which are optional are also well recommended. The drivers are lovely and huggable! As the hotel isn't beach accessible make sure to use this facility if you fancy some trips to the sea.
I would also recommend checking out Healing Waves for accessible surfing. St Brelades Bay for beach wheelchair hire and WetWheels for accessible speed boat tours and driving!
Thank you for a pleasurable stay! You have totally spoilt us in a world where accessibility is a challenging topic.

Thank you for a pleasurable stay! You have totally spoilt us in a world where accessibility is a challenging topic.

+1
This hotel is amazing, all the staff members are lovely, the food was catered for me as I have food intolerances, the location the hotel is at is lovely for sunsets and is close to the beach via cliff roads, would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone especially anyone who is disabled, visited for a week with my aunt and limitless, disabled holidaymakers. The pool at the hotel is also fully disabled friendly.

I don’t write reviews on tripadvisor. However I feel compelled to write this one. My father has dementia and Parkinson’s, and he, together with my mother and my father’s carer went to Maison des Landes for three nights over Easter. My teenage children and I joined them all for lunch yesterday. There are not enough superlatives to describe the experience. This is a properly accessible hotel so when they say it is setup for people with disabilities it actually is (anyone in this situation knows only too well the moment when at a traditional hotel they discover a step in an ‘accessible’ room). The setting is beautiful with onsite parking and an ambience of calm from the moment you enter the hotel. It is light and airy having just been refurbished and my parents had a terrace so they could enjoy a cup of tea with fresh air and a view. The food is delicious - my teenagers (yes teenagers) keep saying how amazing it was and I wholeheartedly agree. The portions are generous and served by staff who are absolutely delightful. Steve Martin the manager has a background in care and that shows in his attention to detail and making it all work so seamlessly. I have urged my mother to book more stays for rest of the season - it is a welcome change for her and my father and important respite for her. We will certainly be back for lunch. The only drawback at the moment is the pool is not yet open as I understand the lining is being replaced. Hopefully that will be finished soon.
This is an amazing hotel that deserves to be showcased - it was full yesterday for lunch and I would encourage locals to visit for lunch if they haven’t been yet, and/or to have a staycation and for those outside Jersey who may be wavering, I would say book with full confidence that this is somewhere you will be looked after, and well. It is also exceptionally good value.
Just for the avoidance of doubt, I am not on commission, I just feel that something as amazing as this deserves to be given the credit it is so worthy of and those responsible, to be congratulated. We are so lucky to have this facility on our Island.

Thankyou Heather for you wonderful review of our hotel. We are all so pleased that your family enjoyed lunch, and your parents had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We do apologise that the pool wasn't open during your parents stay - the changing room floors have been relaid and the pool is scheduled to reopen very shortly. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. With our best wishes, the Maison des Landes team.
