I stayed twice during my stay on Koh Rong. First in a treehouse then later in the deluxe bungalow. Both were comfortable and clean. I preferred the deluxe for a few more dollars for AC, closed walls, and the newly renovated feel. The location is perfect, between the main town and Longset beach. It has its own quiet beach. The staff were very friendly. I had the best service here, especially at their restaurant, which is why I returned, and why I hope to return in the future!
I spent two nights in one of the basic bungalows and really enjoyed my time here. Treehouse Bungalows is perfectly located right in the middle of all the places you'd want to go in Koh Rong, and even has it's own pier which you can organise boats to pick you up / drop you off from. The bungalow I stayed in was basic but just what I needed, the restaurant has a great variety of Western and Khmer food (included delicious pizzas!), and the restaurant also has the best wi-fi in Koh Rong I experienced (not saying much, the bar is pretty low in Cambodia but that's expected). The service is also very Cambodian, friendly and relaxed, but seeing as you're on one of the most gorgeous islands in the world - what's the rush?
We recently stayed 3 nights at Tree House bungalows in a triple room treehouse overlooking the beach. It is in a wonderful location, being easy walking distance to Koh Tuch beach and amenities and the stunning Longset beach, as well as being sited on a small but lovely beach. The resort has obviously been very beautiful in the past but has become very run down. I appreciate that the website does state renovations on currently underway, and some treehouses were in the process of being maintained while we were there, but I was disappointed to see rubbish everywhere which no one seemed bothered to remove. At the start of the pier there were full rubbish bins ( for days) and building materials everywhere which was adjacent to our treehouse and the first thing you see when arriving! There was also rubbish in lots of other areas as well as dirty looking ( or empty) water features. Our treehouse bedroom was basic but comfortable inside but we were concerned as the floorboards were rotten in places particularly on the verandah. The floor was not sealed within the cabin with large gaps so I got badly bitten one night by mosquitos, despite the nets, as they could get in under the floorboards. The tree next to our treehouse shook the cabin in the wind and kept banging the house so one night in the wind we hardly slept. I feel this treehouse should not have been used until it had had some maintenance and attention. The boat transfer from the pier was terrible when we arrived. We waited an hour to be picked up, then the 2 boatmen walked past us to get themselves snacks from the shop ignoring us. Then once on the boat their boat handling skills were terrible. This was not a language problem, they were just rude, giving a poor first impression. Having said all that the restaurant area was lovely, overlooking the beach. The breakfast and meals were much enjoyed and reasonably priced. The restaurant staff and receptionist were friendly and helpful. I just feel that the resort needed an overhaul much earlier, with more attention to detail- like clearing up the rubbish!…
My girlfriend and I stayed there for three nights in February. The bungalows were really good, comfortable, large and clean, including bathroom / shower. The restaurant and service were excellent, being attentive at all times, with good quality of the food. Also, they have their own beach parcel with its pier, which is really nice. However, we missed a kind of ‘Information Point’ at the reception (limited English), with some information about the area or some recommendations. In my opinion, Tree House Bungalows placement have a lot of potential, but they should get more out of it.
The best thing about this guesthouse is its quiet location directly on the beach. From a wonderful tree house we had direct view to the sea. At present the tree houses are being renovated step by step - which seems to be necessary. Many restaurants nearby are within walking distance, the guesthouse also has a large restaurant breakfast terrace. Wifi does not always work, the shower is cold. Most disturbing: There were no bed sheets in the room. Instead we got the covers for the matrace. Already in previous evaluations people pointed out this shortcoming, obviously with no consequences for improvement.
