RUNNNN!!!!! I rarely if ever leave a bad review but what we experienced here was fraud! We checked in the seemingly nice lobby and was given our key. They sent us across the parking lot to a dark, dismal, cold dumpy room with literally no window and the picture was nothing like what we thought we reserved. We nicely went back to the lobby to return the key and just let them know this was not for us, and they said they would not refund us!!!! We had paid for the room only 5 min previously!!!! We stayed at another hotel and tried to get our money returned which was never done. This is absolute extortion and false advertisement. Scam! There are so many beautiful places to stay in Tahoe…this is NOT one of them…just a wretched experience! The staff were unapologetic, uncaring and frankly just plain cruel.…
My husband and I are currently here. I want to start with saying staff is amazing, friendly, and very helpful! They were accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We requested a room that had World Cup on their tv so we could watch and they made it happen. They have an app where you can request towels and room service which is nice BUT it doesn’t always get communicated to the correct person so we had to call down a few times to get the services we needed, but again-staff always accommodated us. They have a kitchen with basic needs and complimentary coffee in the morning which is really nice and convenient. They have a fire in the lobby and free games for you to play if you’re spending an afternoon in. My husband and I loved this! Now on to why I only gave them 3 stars. The walls. These walls are so paper thin that my husband and I have been woken up every single night and morning to our neighbors talking/tv/music. Whoever is next to us didn’t get in until 2:30 in the morning and was loud until about 4 am. I had to sleep with headphones in just to try and get a tad bit of sleep. We even tried to upgrade to a suite in hopes that maybe since those are a tad nicer, they would have better insulation on them. Thank goodness we’re on the top floor or else I don’t think I would have slept at all. They really need to do a better job soundproofing. If you’re someone who sleeps through everything-this won’t be an issue. I want to give them my business again but I can’t get passed this issue!!…
This place is getting one star because they canceled our family's existing Booking.com holiday reservation at the last minute due to lack of space without so much as an apology. Happy Holidays eh?! Don't reserve a room at the Coachman if you want a reliable place to stay.
Stayed for about 3 nights in August. The rooms are decent and pretty clean. They provide soap, lotion, body wash and shampoo. The beds are ok nothing too bad. The room itself is decent and it’s a pretty trendy looking hotel. Downside- there is no “free breakfast” you can buy breakfast items like a burrito, oats, bagels or a waffle in the morning and they give free coffee during their breakfast hours (nothing special) they have free bikes to rent out, not the most comfortable but they do the job for a short ride. The walls are extremely thin you will hear everything happening upstairs or besides you (and I mean everything) the coffee shop is “open” till 10pm but certain (random) days you’ll stop by at 8:30 and they’ll tell you they already cleaned everything so you can’t order. There is a private beach close by about 10 min walking and you can get a voucher so entrance is $5 instead of $25 so that’s nice but it is a pretty small beach. You’re also about a 8min walk to the souvenir stores and restaurants. The pool is nice just pretty small and heated. Also, weirdly there is no trash can IN the bathroom it’s just outside and the shower itself has no door it’s just one glass pane.…
We had a lovely visit here as a family of three in a king family suite. Highlight was definitely the atmosphere in the evenings — drinks and s’mores by the fire and and swimming. We met a lot of interesting travelers from all over the world. Lots of good vibes here. Friendly staff, very spacious suite, decent but not extensive breakfast options. Nice coffee and beer/wine options all day, really nice outdoor space for chilling. We were on the side of the street opposite the reception area, which is good because it got a little loud out there. Would highly recommend.
I think it’s all about managing expectations. The photos are accurate and the rooms do look as they appear in the photos. However, if you’re expecting a boutique experience, you may be a little disappointed. PROS: * Pet friendly and a flat fee per stay (instead of per night) * Tesla chargers on site * Malin + Goetz toiletries * The common area/deck and fireplace is very well done * Friendly staff * Heated toilet seats (bet these are a hit in winter * Walking distance to Heavenly shops CONS: * The stairwells and exterior breezeways (near building 5) are dated and dirty * Walls are thin, you can hear neighbors and guests passing by outside * Rooms facing Manzanitas hear every car driving by * Tiny closet size bathroom * Area rug under the bed is thin and feels like a dirt magnet…
Nice happy hour, smores. Very social environment. The hotel was in a good location. Wish breakfast was included in the price. The pool area was not inviting to children. We got a few "looks" from couples because we ruined their chill vibe.
Booked for family vacation thru booking site and confirmed room for 6 with balcony and all amenities. Price was in line with rest of similar hotels. Checked in to find they gave us small room for 4. When we went back to front desk clerk admitted they’ve had problem with booking site giving wrong rooms. Manager refused to fix problem and forced us to pay for 2nd room. We could have booked at numerous other hotels to meet our family’s needs for similar price. Instead we paid 50% premium and were met with immature and indignant management and staff. If you’re traveling with family and can’t afford that big resorts steer clear of this place.
This place is charming and cool and we absolutely loved the reception and bar, the s'mores and firepits, and the pool and hot tub. The bikes were also an awesome benefit of staying here. The staff are all terrific and friendly. Also liked the "digital concierge" feature. The hotel is convenient to everything in South Tahoe at a reasonable price. The room was comfortable with a nice large shower, plenty of hot water, and a comfortable bed. Good shades to block out all the light from the window. What we did not love was debating whether it was Bigfoot or Gaston tromping around in the room above us each night and morning. The rooms are modern and, as such, have no carpeting. Our floor (ground level) was a concrete floor. Presumably, the upper level rooms also have bare floors. Which means that every footstep of the family in the room above ours sounded like Clydesdales were marching around. Remember the cheap apartment you had as a young adult where you would have sworn the people above you strapped anvils to their feet and walked around??--it was like that. Choose a room on a high floor to avoid this.…
Was just in Lake Tahoe to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. When we pulled up to the hotel it was a bit hard to find the area to check in. Once we found it we started to park in an area that had signage indicating parking for check in. Imagine my surprise when I’m yelled at by Hotel staff member for parking in the area that they had just had sand put down. When I mentioned the sign the response was that they still needed to remove the sign. Needless to say not the best welcome to the Coachman hotel. Room was just ok and there was definitely some “wear & tear” on the furniture. I had paid for premium king with balcony but our balcony overlooked the common fire pit area so not really the ambience I was anticipating. The guys working in the hotel bar were awesome and the nightly s’mores a nice touch. Just wish we would’ve had a better first impression and overall nicer accommodations for the amount we paid and especially for the big event we were there to celebrate.…
