This property is a renovated motel. It is nestled among other motels and resorts near major ski resorts and other outdoor actives. There are plenty of food and entertainment options near by on the California side and late night options like bars and casinos on the Nevada side. The property itself is nothing special. The rooms and bed are comfortable but noisy with insufficient parking. The property boasts about a hot tub and heated pool. in our experience only the hot tub was heated and it had no jets. The pool was as cold as the lake. The experience at Coachman would have been average and I would have given it 3 stars if it was not for the exceptionally terrible service. The rudeness and general vibe of misery among the staff was almost comical. Were they told to treat guests, who paid on average $300 a night on the weekend we used the room, with utter disdain and disgust? The check in process which is done at a coffee and bar counter is completely in efficient. At one point when my key card became demagnetized I waited at least 15 minutes while the worker at the counter had a personal covesation seeing that I was waiting in wet clothes unable to get into my room. We were never told that breakfast was available and when we got to the kitchen area the worker was carrying away food and told us we just missed breakfast. it was a few minutes before 10 am and he was literally holding the food on tray in his hands. One of the travel companions ordered a ramen and she noted it was worse than Cup-O-Noodles. We found the place to be so miserable that we actually forfeited our final night at the hotel and left on Sunday. The level of discourteous service must be authorized by management or the hotel group that owns this property. Suffice it to say I would avoid this place in the future and feel like I am skeptical about other hotels in the vicinity if owned or managed by the same group.

My partner & I stayed at this "motel" for 3 nights in Aug 2023. It's not worth the $300 a night. I wouldn't pay more than $150 a night for this place. The only going for this place is maybe the location & the heated toilet seat. It's dated and it's spread out to 5 different areas. The customer service was the worse. It's young adults running the place. When we checked in after 6pm at the bar area was fine. But, the rest of our stay it was terrible as if they're doing us a favor staying there. Really! They need to retrain their employees for a better service. What's with checking in at the bar. I've never experienced that before. We booked a sunset beach picnic for $75. It only had cheese, 4 crackers, meats & tiny cup of almonds. NO fruit! We tried to contact the hotel via text only way they want you to communicate with them since there's NO phone in the room. It was raining so we tried to cancel the picnic basket, 2 hours prior. No response until the next day and only for them to text back and say " this is something that the sales manager is in charge of and we would have to ask them but they do not come in until Monday. I guess you can't talk or change anything to your reservation if it's the weekend. Wow! I would not recommend this MOTEL to anyone. I should have listened to the reviews. It's crazy how this place received so many good reviews. It's baffling!

What made this a three star review instead of a one star was the gracious and generous intervention of Darcy, the manager who really heard us and tried her best to address our problem. Upon check-in we discovered that the photos on the website are quite inaccurate. The size of the Premium King room was misrepresented. The photos showed furniture that just was not present in the room. For example, the photos showed a wet bar and two club style chairs; what the actual room has is no wet bar and one chair. To be fair, the online description says one chair, even though the photos show two. The bed was a bit lumpy looking, not firm, and there was fluff of some kind on the rug, indicating a lack of thorough vacuuming. The actual square footage of the room did not align with the spaciousness the photos showed. When we talked to Darcy, she said she could upgrade and we waited while she had housekeeping clean and prepare a One Bed Suite. Again, we were put off by the website description and what we saw in person. The website description said it had a "couch that easily converts into a twin bed...". In actuality, it was a trundle bed, no pillows to arrange and lean back on, no way to get comfortable to relax or watch the TV which happened to be at an awkward 90 degree angle from that bed. The king in the bedroom was much firmer than in the first room. Overall, the photos gave the impression that we would have a different experience and although Darcy really tried to work it out for us, we ended up finding another hotel. Darcy said she would give us a 100% refund under the circumstances, which was very kind and generous. The Coachman has a lot of perks that we did like, such as a community area with fire pits, a bar, merchandise and snacks, and a communal kitchen. Great staff, really friendly. Recommend for young couples and families.

This is an old updated motel, when looking at the images it appears you are getting an upscale room with amenities. Its divided into two propertie, one side looks like an old apartment building with stairs and no elevator for pregnant, disabled or those with pets. The floors are concrete with no rug very cold and not cozy as shown in images. Checkin is at a bar and not the friendliest of service, almost felt like it was an inconvenience to check in guest. Smores we’re not fresh and parking was horrible. The mini refrigerator was not working and all my food had to be thrown out. I see potential in this property, but for now it was one of my worse stays visiting for first time.

We had a clean, comfortable room on the newer side of the property and certainly enjoyed the space. The room was a classic motel with majority of the effort going into a large comfortable bed and functional bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality fixtures through out. The Coachman really shines when it comes to the amenities and this is why you want to stay here. Pool, hot tub, outdoor deck with fire places, multiple group seating areas throughout, indoor bar with hot breakfast and snacks, and more seating areas. You could easily spend a majority of your time at the hotel. It’s wonderful to see others enjoying these spaces at all times of the day.

My husband and I decided to go Tahoe to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and stayed at this hotel. Overall, the experience at the hotel was ok, not the greatest. Pros: -You get ticket for free access to Lakeside beach (would've been great if they provided this while we waited for our room to be ready so we could've been hanging out at the beach) -Free coffee in the AM and S'mores in the PM -Walking distance to restaurants and shops Cons: -Room needs more lighting, very dark unless you have window shake open but you get no privacy -No elevator -Parking lot gets pretty packed -No full body mirror (not a must, but would be nice) -hotel room doors are right next to each other, so you can hear your neighbors -Customer service could improve. Receptionist wasn't very friendly.

I have so much to say about this place. The first thing, is there is nothing "hotel" about the experience, at best this is an elevated motel in look, experience, and customer service. Btw, a premium room will get you a chair in addition to your beds, --- no safe, no microwave, no iron, honestly you get nothing for the price you pay -- so save your money ans splurge on the many other options nearby with excellent rooms and competent staff. The customer service with the front staff is disgusting, rude and condescending. They will roll their eyes at you and blame their rudeness on dyslexia. Also, if you ask to use your drink ticket and then proceed to get drinks they will accuse you of theft and bark "what did you take" like a street shop owner. I expected more from a "hotel" at this price, and more from just basic customer service. Please, please take your business elsewhere, and save yourself the mediocrity and rudeness.

Overrated and overpriced I say. The rooms are modern. The noise from room above atrocious. The surrounds, passageways and stairs very ratty tatty. The reception/bar not well maintained / clean. The coffee machine looked very unloved. I suspect many other better options in town.

I had a bad experience dealing with thei front counter personnel named Pamela. The hotel failed to clean our room despite the assurance before we left in the morning. We discovered the mess only when we arrived in the evening. Unfortunately, after reporting to the front counter, Pamela didnt want to help but gave excuses why the room was not cleaned to begin with. She didnt even bother to offer clean towels for us. She was rude, arrogant and doesnt have basic customer service skills. It was definitely useless to deal with her. She even taunted me when I asked for her name. Another staff (Florencia) who have witnessed the encounter saved the situation. She jumped in during my conversation with Pamela. She solved my problem and went beyond her duty. She demonstrated how to be an excellent model in customer service. Great Job to you Florencia. The facility is a bit dated but the fire place was a hit! It could have been a great experince experience but Pamela ruined everything. 😤

We traveled as a family but no teens, two grown sons and me for a quick ski adventure at Heavenly Valley. First, the hotel is a short enough hop to the gondola that it can be done in ski boots, so that is a plus. Parking is easy so you don't have to haul all the ski equipment across the county to get to the room. It is also a short walk, best without ski boots to Stateline or the sandy beach a few blocks away. Second, the room was simple and pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the shower stocked with shampoo and conditioner that minimizes waste. Everything was very clean. While some folks complain about no sink in the bathroom, I vastly prefer a sink out of the bathroom so you can wash hands or brush teeth when somebody else is in the bathroom. Really? That's a point of complaint? The decor was simple and cabin like in the room and the balcony was a plus to catch some morning sun before heading out. We noticed right away that there was no coffee maker nor microwave but please read on, since in our opinion, this is not a negative, but a good thing. Finally, the Coachman has a great meeting space with a bar, coffee bar, breakfast menu including a decent burrito, with outstanding staff who make it totally worth it to go down and get a complementary coffee or hot chocolate, hang out inside or out by the fire pits or if you want to brave the elements, hop into the heated pool. The Coachman offers a bit of social interaction and again, a friendly staff that far outweigh the lack of coffee maker in the room to savor alone. We only wish we had a longer stay. And a special shout out to Florencia, Gianella, and Pam who are the type of people that if I owned a hotel, would want them working the front desk. They understand and practice hospitality in their helpfulness, friendliness, and enthusiasm. So, a short stay, but five stars all around.
