We love a well design hotel. This one was very stylish with great friendly authentic service. Priced well during winter. We enjoyed nice draft beers, games in the common room, complimentary s'mores, and delicious waffles in the morning with home made raspberry sauce. Our room was a little small and dark but we didn't mind since it was winter. We can't wait to return in the summer with our doggie. The Coachman will be our Tahoe home base for sure.
Have been to this hotel for drinks and pool more often than staying. We just stayed in the family suite for several days: 2 grandparents, one adult child, grandkids 9 & 11. Three linked BRs with TVs, fridges, microwave and a spacious living room with sink and counter space for basic food prep.. Understated, less-is-more decor. Bunk room was perfect for kids to separately play a game, watch a cartoon or knock off early. We couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation setup! Mattresses comfortable, nice bedside reading lamp. People who come to this hotel seem to be focused on seasonal outdoor recreation and common area social times at the start or finish of the day’s activities. We really enjoyed the pool area with the kids. Clean, well maintained. Spacious decks, comfortable furniture and separate gathering spaces for more than one family. Well-trained staff, high retention rate. Greeted by name, check in and out smooth. Covid restrictions explained clearly with a nice combo of seriousness & good cheer. Staff consistent in following precautions. As a former hotel front desk man I like to observe staff in those roles; Coachman folks get how to be competent and their own unique selves but pitch their interactions to each set of guests in targeted ways. Very skilled. They still have an excellent range of beers and wines. Free Stumptown morning coffee a quality option. Outdoor seating by the gas fire pits perfect for quiet morning or evening sipping and/or conversation. Portable seating allows for separation between guests. Oh, the bathrooms. Spacious, very nice bath products in dispensers, high quality and quantity of bath towels!…
Very nice place to stay. Grounds and room were very clean and stylish. Comfy beds loved the style. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided were nice products and great that they have them to use. Nice, friendly service from staff. Delicious made to order breakfast in the lobby. Coffee and alcohol also available for purchase in the lobby. Would stay here again!
In my first visit - mid 2016 - I was very impressed by the Coachman property and operation. It retains a lot of the same charm, but the overall experience has room for improvement as the Hotel expands across the road. The location, design aesthetic and friendliness of the staff is still excellent. The price point is about right if you want to avoid the nasty casino hotels for half the price. So what could have been better? The reception/front desk is understaffed. Every visit - from check in, to breakfast, to bar, to service, involved a long wait. Often it was unattended for up to 10-15 minutes. The rooms are a little dinged up / worse for wear, as you would expect in a ski hotel after several years. The beds creak dramatically with every movement. The air con is a little creaky too (incidentally the A/C temperature indicator is as bright as the moon so we bought some tape to cover this up at night). The veneer on the back of the bathroom door was coming away. The shower and basin didn't drain smoothly. Apple TV was in the room, but not connected, and setup was challenging. Who needs that if you can go for a bike ride? Bikes are $5 an hour, which seems steep relative to most hotels making these available free of charge. You could always pick up one of the hundreds of Lime scooters littered around Tahoe though. Breakfast used to be included but cannot be in COVID times. Unfortunately the morning we wanted to buy breakfast, half the menu was sold out. There is a lot of construction in the area. That's no fault of the Coachman, though I was surprised that crews could start engines and machinery before 7am on the neighboring site. In spite of this, there's a charm about the Coachman I still love. It's just the right size, has the things you need, and I can't emphasize enough how amazingly friendly everyone working there was.…
Never in my life have I had to deal with such immaturity and unprofessionalism by. First and foremost - we were lied to and accused by management. There is a nearby lake here that apparently Coachman gives FREE access to. We were never informed of this. Lucky for us we met a guest the last night who told us about it. Unfortunately though, we had to pay a $25 fee each time of entry. When we asked management if there's anything that can be done, he kindly offered $100 in credit to make up for this. When our invoice did not reflect this discount, we contacted management who said they took back the discount because they changed their minds. This is hospitality 101 to never lie to a customer. Or even better - ACCUSE a customer. He accused us of having a lake pass the entire time and mentioned he heard this on surveillance (another hospitality 101-audio surveillance is illegal). I am very sad of this experience and though a solid solution was given. Management if you read this - please don't lie anymore to your customers. We pay good money to stay here and deserve a little hospitality and honesty. All we want is a solution. And we thought we had one until management took it back. Another thing - I really try to support staff members and relate to that them. I know it can be frustrating working in the hospitality business, but this staff couldn't even fake being nice. So right off the bat, we had bad vibes. Room were comparable to a dark closet as well.…
