My boyfriend and I had the loveliest stay at The Landing Resort. From a friendly arrival at check-in to helpful bell service, the entire staff at the hotel made us feel welcome. We dined at the restaurant Jimmy’s for dinner which was a standout. Definitely get the Pork Cracklins and filet. Perfect location - walk to beach/marina or shopping + dining in town. We traveled during COVID and felt completely safe - room was clean, everyone wore face coverings and hand sanitizer was provided in several areas. This was our first trip to Tahoe and we can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I brought our two girls and Labrador with us for a quick weekend away from San Jose. We are well traveled, and expect extraordinary service as I do tons of research before booking places to stay, especially doing Covid. Our other option was The Ritz, but they have had disappointing recent reviews, and Resort at Squaw Valley but that is closed, so we came here. I made a huge mistake with our scheduling, our reservations were for Wed thru Sat, but I had thought I booked Thurs till Sun. When we arrived and realized how much I messed up, it was 930pm, our girls were tired and I said “is there anything that can be done, as I realize this was my fault.” I felt terrible, and apologized a lot. The male night clerk on duty on 10/29 said our room type wasn’t available but he booked us into the large two queen (not lake view, but we understood). He did not smile. He did not look up from the computer, and said our deposit from the previous reservation couldn’t be refunded unless someone approved it. Again, we understood. Then he told us where the elevator was. That was it. My husband made two trips for luggage and wasn’t offered any assistance or even a luggage cart. I was concerned immediately that the resort appeared a bit, motel-ish. Lots of rooms opened not into a hallway but into a parking lot. And with our cold welcome, we just wanted to get some sleep. Friday was uneventful and we thought the hot tub was super nice. The heated pool was frigid. Again, we understand...it’s offseason. They do not offer housekeeping at this time. We pilfered the housekeeping cart for towels, coffee, etc. we did request a microwave that was never delivered. Saturday morning we had breakfast at Jimmy’s. Our waiter was awesome and brought my almost 6 year old a bday dessert to celebrate her day early. The food was delicious with the exception that my eggs were questionable....not cooked completely. So we did not order room service due to that. We ended up doing a candy hunt with our girls on the resort property for Halloween rather than trick or treating, which was really fun for them, and other guests seem to find it funny. And this is where we saw shocking differences with our checkin. Lots of folks were arriving during our candy hunt, we saw amazing welcomes from staff, luggage assistance, champagne on arrival, detailed explanations of the resort....it was phenomenal. They were engaging and made you feel super welcome. Just, that wasn’t our experience. Will we return? Possibly, as they generously refunded our deposit from the original reservation. It was clean and we felt safe, but we weren’t treated as well as we could have been. I’m rating them a 4 because of the refund courtesy, otherwise my review would have been a 3.

I wish this was a review for a stay at The Landing, but unfortunately it's only a review for the level of service and communication I received from them after booking a trip. Made a tentative, cancelable December reservation for my wife and I at The Landing in Tahoe, hoping COVID restrictions would ease by then. I emailed The Landing no less than three times after booking a room to enquire about dining and entertainment options in Tahoe and how things were going for guests. It would not be enjoyable to go to a ski vacation in the snow if no indoor dining options were allowed by the city/state. I did not receive a single email or call back regarding my enquiries. Yesterday I emailed again instructing them to cancel my reservation and to please inform me when this was actioned. NO REPLY. I literally just got off the phone to The Landing - when I called and asked for my reservation to be canceled, I was told "it's already been done". I understand it's a crazy year and lots of things are messed up with COVID, especially in the hospitality industry. But this is an absolutely ridiculous way of treating valued guests in a time like this . I'm glad not to be staying at The Landing if they can't even get their pre-stay guest experience right.

After arriving in Tahoe and being gravely disappointed in our original hotel choice, we quickly called Reservations and spoke with Joanie whom took the time to assist my wife in making a needed last minute booking at the Landing. From the moment we arrived, Casey at the Front Desk took immediate control and made my wife and daughter at ease that we had made the right choice. He was personable, funny, and empathetic to tired family that had travelled all day. He even took our bags to the room for us! The balance of our 4 day stay was phenomenal. Food and room service was quick and delicious. The Landing was clean. Parking was easy, and everyone was super friendly and attentive. Eillot made awesome food and around town recommendations Derek took us anywhere we asked to go within the boundaries allowed. And the Richard made me chuckle and laugh everytime we got a chance to say "hello". I will only take my family to stay at the Landing on our future trips to Tahoe. Thank you to the entire staff for making our trip more enjoyable.
