Everything about this hotel if 5 star. My wife and I, along with friends, had one night to ourselves before checking into a time share with family to celebrate a milestone birthday. I am very happy we chose The Landing! Throughout our stay, we were given a high level of care and attention to detail one could only dream of. Our room was clean, spacious, and offered a spectacular view of the lake. The team at The Landing were attentive and gracious at all times. Big shout out to their General Manager, David Ahern. The wine list did not disappoint! If you are contemplating where to stay while in South Lake Tahoe, look no further than The Landing. We will be back!
Stayed here for one night with a friend for a short little girls trip. We were doing a spa day at the Edgewood. We saved some money by booking this hotel rather than staying there and used that money towards the spa. This is not the cheapest or most expensive place in Southlake Tahoe. It’s still on the upper end but a great value for what you get. Beautiful room with an amazing view of the lake. Very comfortable beds and loved the heated floor in the bathroom. The staff were so friendly. I want to come back again with my family so we can use the pool! We were even able to hear the Eric Church concert from our balcony. Great time.
First things first - though this is rated as a 5 Star hotel, it does not deserve 5 stars. A 4 star rating would be more appropriate. That being said, the amenities are quite nice - we stayed in a Lake View King and had a lovely view of the lake. The fireplace in the room was a nice touch, and the heated floors in the bathroom + heated toilet seat + rainfall shower were all very much appreciated. We didn’t use the hot tub but were tempted. I used the fitness studio, which was well appointed with Peloton bikes and Nordic Trac treadmills and rowing machines. I found the staff to be helpful, kind and attentive. From the late night receptionist, to the manager, to the valet… all provided great service. Jimmy’s had good food and good service (though I heard way too many personal staff conversations). However, the food is extremely overpriced for what it is. I’m sure the views in the summer make it worth it for non-hotel guests. Proximity to the lake can’t be beat, you’re just steps away and during the winter it was an exceptional experience to be able to walk out to the snow covered beach at sunset and take in the beauty of the lake and scenery. We booked a TravelZoo deal and got our room at half price. At full price I would have been upset with my booking, as the resort would not have met my expectations. Here is why: the room itself looked dated, with the furniture damaged, the carpet floors dark and questionable in terms of their cleanliness, and the ceiling stained. At a 5 Star resort I expect an immaculate experience in every way, especially at 500-1000/night, and this was not that. The only saving grace was that I paid a fraction of that price and was content with what I received for that price. Go in with appropriate expectations and you might not be disappointed. But there is no way anyone will feel good about paying north of $500/night, regardless of the amenities, for The Landing. Perhaps Edgewood is a better bet……
Brought my family there and absolutely blown away by the rooms, amenities, and service. The entire team from top to bottom was amazing, and made my whole family feel special. Great restaurant with amazing food. Proximity to Heavenly village was key for easy days on the slopes, and situated right on the lake for stunning sun sets.
Had a wonderful stay with my family. Front Desk made our stay most relaxing and memorable. By paying attention to the details of what we needed. From a welcome drink to accommodate our needs to make our stay most relaxing. The rooms are very nice and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Bringing that warm cozy cabin feel. The hotel was very dog friendly as they provided to every need of my pup. The Food was amazing and the servers were very friendly. Our stay was overall an amazing experience. Can’t wait to visit again.
My husband and I visited the first week in January for a Ski/relaxing trip. The Landing could not have been a more perfect location for us to stay. The room was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need available. Jimmy’s restaurant was beyond amazing. We had breakfast and lunch there and all meals were delicious and service was excellent. The front desk staff and Kevin were beyond accommodating and had great recommendations on where to go for dining and skiing. We also enjoyed a couples massage and out of the many massages I have had, it was by far the best one! The spa was so relaxing and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back and visit during the summer to experience Lake Tahoe’s summer activities!
Review for The Landing If there is one take away from this review, it’s that The Landing is simply the greatest place to stay in the greater Lake Tahoe area. I mean WOW. We had such a memorable and fantastic experience that we will be booking another trip up to Tahoe JUST to stay here! The moment you walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile and some spa water. The smell of pine and good memories leads the way to the room (which feels more like an entire apartment). The decor in the room definitely wow’ed us, but the BATHROOM was the real trophy winner for us. Heated tiles, heated toilet seat, steam shower with multiple shower heads, giant tub, gold hardware finishes. You get it, it was deluxe. We are at Jimmy’s restaurant downstairs twice a day not because it was conveniently located, but because it is truly the most superior restaurant in the area and actually towards the top of the list of some restaurants I may have ever been to. The chef is passionate about his craft in culinary arts, and it shows through the delightful dishes, and the bartenders were highly skilled cocktail concoctors. The manager of the hotel was extremely warm, welcoming, hospitable, and made me and my fiancée feel like we were family. The hot tub is huge and the gym had what we needed to get a good workout in, but the real activity happened up in the mountains, which was a lovely short 5 minutes from the resort. They conveniently have a shuttle that took us to and from the base of the mountain, and kindly took care of our ski storage so we wouldn’t lift a finger! All in all, our experience was beyond magical, and we are very excited to return to a place that feels like home. 10/10 highly recommend making this stay a plan for your near future!…
The Landing Resort in South Lake Tahoe is one of the best experiences I've had while traveling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to every need that my fiancee and I had. The food at Jimmy's was first class and they offered a nice variety of dishes. Huge shoutout to the bartenders as well, they crafted the best cocktails I've ever had. The amenities were excellent as well, which included a nice big hot tub to soak in after a long day on the slopes. By the way, Heavenly Mountain is just down the street! We stayed in the suit that overlooked the lake. My favorite features were the heated bathroom floors and steam shower. There is no doubt that I will be staying at The Landing when I revisit Tahoe. Excited to see this place in a whole new way this summer.
We found the Landing because it was the only "5-star" resort in Lake Tahoe, and I was looking for something special for my fiance. Actually, before I start this review I'd like to explain why I put 5 stars in quotes. Simply put, many hotels claim to be 4 or 5 stars, but when it comes to details, location, customer service, amenities, and true luxury, they fall very short. So with that said please understand The Landing is a TRUE 5-star experience. From the moment we walked in we were treated like we were special, our bags taken and put away, welcomed with an incredible scent, smile, and drink. It was exactly what we wanted after a long flight. Our room was not only extremely comfortable and well furnished, it just felt expensive and what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The bathroom cut ZERO corners as it was nicer than any hotel (or house) bathroom I've ever been in as the piano tile floors were preheated to 85 degrees and the toilet seat was also preheated! I can not explain what a treat this was. My fiance and I said "wow" probably 500 times just putting our toiletries away. Now onto the rest of the hotel (views, restaurant, gym, pool, location, staff). The hotel is literally right in front of the beach. You wake up to the sun lighting up the mountains and it took our breath away. We also ended up eating at the restaurant every night (which is extremely unlike us). Normally my fiance and I like to venture outside the hotel and see whats around but the food at Jimmy's wasn't just "good for a hotel", or "good for a 5 star hotel" it was Fantastic and I would put it up with some of the best restaurants I've been to, period. The gym and pool/ hot tub are clean, and more than what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. Lastly, and most importantly, what makes this place so special, and why I've already booked my next trip, the people who work here are next level. I left feeling like I had friends for life. They're caring, kind, obviously hospitable, and now I feel like I have a real connection to a place I love. From the front desk to the bartenders to the GM and everyone in between. Thank you Okay I think I said enough. Just book your stay if you read all of this.…
